Since there may be some questions about my application as a whole I have copied it below. I NOW understand the admins may have been looking for examples [since it was not specified in my application rejection I needed to do so], but I believe I covered everything here in its entirety, and also gave an enormous character background afterwards. To me, this signifies I have a thorough understanding of both the rules and what it is to roleplay - and thus, providing examples to each rule would just be redundant - as my understanding of both the rules and roleplaying are all already there.
To me, there is a difference between being thorough and "overkilling" a topic, and after reading these comments I still do not see a really legitimate reason that I was denied, and it seems like all of the time, effort, and understanding I put into this was denied either due to a lack of understanding by admins, or the simple "letter of the law" versus the "spirit of the law." I would encourage both admins and general users to let me hear their thoughts - not that it necessarily matters anymore [to me] since I cannot join the community, but I hope this thread helps any future applicants out there!
What is NLR: The New Life Rule is the idea that every time your character spawns, he/she spawns fresh, with no recollection of past events [ergo: how he/she died, why, who did it, et cetera]. The only thing that remains at the beginning of each new life is my friends, enemies, people I've met, and groups [relationships] that I had/met before the events which lead to my demise - so going back for revenge, or to loot my old corpse immediately after death - is totally out of the question. I can only go back to that area after 90 minutes have passed. Specifically, one cannot return to the area within a 1km radius of the location where I died in that time. It is important to note that you cannot take revenge for a hostile act that happened before you died. In terms of the NLR, also avoid Metagaming, which is basically the use of outside factors or information to effect in-game play, like saying "I got killed by those guys an hour ago!" or using teamspeak to find a group, because your character does not remember the events leading up to his death.
What is KoS: Killing on sight is essentially the act of killing an innocent player without rhyme or reason. Before killing another player make sure the action is defensive, justified, or within role-playing "reasonability" - if you will. Pretend you are actually the character in the game and make sure to engage in decent interactions with another player before (unless your character is an aggressive "bandit" - then the interactions will not exactly be decent I guess) engaging combat. Literally and basically speaking, do not kill a person immediately when you see them, and interact with them before you do ANYTHING else. If taking a hostage/robbing an individual you cannot harm them unless they directly disobey your clearly explained demands. Killing a hostage should only be done if your demands are not met, if they present an immediate threat, or if they try to escape/disobey your instruction. Hostages must be defended from external threats, and also left with a realistic chance of survival. Killing on sight has shared rights only when you are within 500 meters of the hostile situation at the time it occurred, or were recently a part of one of the parties involved. Please note that you may only take revenge for a hostile action within 2 hours of its initial occurrence, and revenge may only take place if you have not been died or been killed in the mean time.
Character Name: Silas Anders
Character Background: Silas Anders [named Silas for his father's love of the wilderness, named from the Latin word Silvas, meaning "woods,"] was a married father of two, and college graduate, dubbed a U.S. national guard Sergeant by rank upon his completion of an ROTC program, who was deployed to U.S. outpost 10, Chernaraus, Russia, after the zombie situation seemed contained in the Americas. Because of this, the U.S. sent in what forces it could muster to help contain the violent spread of the "Z" Virus around the world, but not soon after, the virus hit the world again hard, and his outpost in Russia, along with the vast majority of the world, was soon overrun. Months later he received word of the death of his family in the Americas while living safely at outpost 8 on what was the most survivable edge of the Siberian Tundra, the last known American-run safe haven in Russia. In the pit of his devastation, Silvas went AWOL, and left the safety of outpost 8 to wander the wild lands of Russia as a man dedicated to being a good person, like he was a father and husband, but above that, surviving off of the land by any means necessary like his father taught him as child. He can now be found wandering the wastes of Chernaraus just living day-to-day, enjoying what little amenities life has left, like reading, and writing - sometimes in good spirits with company, and in other times, indulging in the darkness of solitude. How he changes from here though, is up to the world.
Why you want to Join: My name is Tim and I am a U.S. resident looking to join DayZRP for a group of people to [role]play with, a significantly more immersive experience, and the opportunity to have much more fun in a realistic community. I am all about having fun [especially because this IS just a game], and want to join a role play server because that is where I know I will have most of it - ridiculous, fun, and maybe even emotional moments, are what make this game what it is, and I know there will be TONS of those in a role play server. I simply cannot wait to be a part of that!
