I get there is times where you're not home, for sure. What I'm getting at is that it literally wastes your time, with no meaningful outcome when you're raided offline. There are ways to stop it for sure. I've suggested one.

How do you prove that though?

It's a completely different topic. Wearing cat ears isn't the same as offline raiding. But you're attacking my point of repeating the topic doesn't mean it's a big issue, and yeah, that's true. However, I think that coupled with the fact that this is waisting literal hours of people's time to collect the stuff they need/want is an important distinction. Especially when they're not even gaining anything from it.

Weebs have nothing to do with gameplay. That's kind of a strawman argument. Well, I do believe it to be an issue and codelocks is a step in the right direction.

I suppose it is a fair point about hoarding crap. I'm not keen on the offline bit, as I've made quite clear, and I don't think I'm alone in it. With how often this topic arises, do you not think there needs to some change or adjustment?

We require heavy rules for RP holding someone up, but not raiding a base. It just seems odd to me, considering that raiding a base seems even more like gear play than holding someone up, and arguably wastes more of that players time. I suggested a solution where the would be raiders are required to stake out the base and get video or photo evidence of someone being present at the base. Then, the proximity logs will confirm that evidence in disputes. It might work. Might not. I just think there's enough discussion on the topic that it should be addressed somehow.

I mean, I agree that there are trades to make surrounding ruleplay, but I think that the community will benefit as a whole with some in place, rather than what it is now.

I just think there's enough discussion around the topic that it probably is an issue that should be addressed in some way. How many people? One probably. If they organize all being online at the same time... is that an issue? Player population and all. They could screen shot evidence, too, if they don't have a PC that can handle video, though we do require video for other things (like hold up disputes), don't we? Then, the logs will confirm whether or not someone was actually in the area at the time. You asked for people to provide suggestions, so this is why I'm continuing the topic. I'm not trying to troll or annoy you. If I am, please let me know and I'll drop it.

It's not really about being attached to gear as much as it is feeling the idea of a home, I think. Building something together. At least not for me or my group. We stash mostly clothing, food, and maybe some ammunition and a backup weapon at most, so I get not being attached to gear. That's not as much as my concern as it just feels lame to have someone have broken in and taken everything while I wasn't around to have any sort of meaningful interaction. We have OOC rules to dictate IC behavior. Hell, asking your friend if they're going to be on tonight is a form of metagaming. We have to accept that we are playing a game and there are rules. Why this particular form of metagaming is worse than the ones that already exist is really the consideration here, and I don't see it. I see the constraints about getting admin permission now, and I agree with you. What about my second suggestion? (To require the raiding player to stake out the base and obtain video evidence that someone was in the base for any disputes).

Hm. I don't completely buy into the metagaming argument, as irl people are always "online" but I get where you're coming from. I believe that is a trade, and an acceptable one in my opinion. The admin availability issue is real... I suppose I'd just say "tough luck, just wait until one is around," but I also understand that it puts a tremendous amount of more work on your team. Perhaps it would require the raiding player to stake out the base, and document the raid via video evidence in case of a dispute?

What's wrong with asking a admin if someone is online before raiding a base? If there is RP surrounding a raid as we would hope there is, they should know the person they're raiding, right?

My 2 cents on this, there needs to be roleplay surrounding a raid, just like there does with hold ups. Offline raiding does not foster that mentality whatsoever. You can't have special rules about only allowing offline raiding while you're building a base. That's far too detailed, and there's way too many ways to abuse that rule. Just allow it, or don't. This needs to be addressed, however, as I don't think your case is a unique one at all @Finn.
