  1. Joe Panini was an American journalist that came to Chernarous for work. He was doing a lengthy field reporting for the aftermath of the civil war. Many reporters and networks in his industry follow the model of the 24 hour news cycle. One week after the war was over, the media had mostly forgotten about Chenarous. Joe Panini would be different though. He was filming a long investigated piece about the Chernos recovery from the war. The war left many impoverished, and many without medical care. As soon as him and his team of 4 others heard rumors of a brand new disease developing in the area, they thought it would perfectly encapsulate to the rest of the world how the Cherno citizens were recovering. Joe and his crew were filming the refugee crisis in Elektro when their van was ransacked and looted. There were disputes with the news crew on if it was time to go home or not. Two of his crew left that night, Joe doesnt know if they ever made it home or not. He admits that going to elektro was a mistake. Some nights he feels guilty about pressuring his crew to go. Other nights he realizes no one could have predicted how devastating and destructive those two weeks were. Joe has good intentions, but at times his ambitiousness to help others can turn into cockiness and counterproductive. He stuck with his remaining crew members for several months, but like many others they also succumbed the infection.
