  1. Nah, legit. It was fun. I had to try . Millie is too cold blooded not to try to turn the tables.
  2. So much fun today. @Sheriff, I love your reaction to 13 and 14. Whoever that guy was who held me up, gave me my shit back, and threw my pills away ( @NotMrPink), you're ridiculous. Nice reaction time. @Steel_Preacher, you're super intimidating when I'm on the other side of your rifle. And of course the entire Playhouse, you're always super fun. I'm loving the interactions I'm having with people on this new character. @JimboJimmyCorn Thanks for being a good sport. I'm coming for you.
  3. Losing her parents to a car crash at the age of 6, Millicent came to live with her paternal grandmother, Edith. Though well meaning, Edith was in poor health and was seldom able to do much to look after the girl, so she was mostly left to her own devices. When Millicent was 16 her grandmother died and she spent a month in a foster home before running away and beginning a life on the streets. With no applicable skills and a strong disdain for authority, she found employment prospects to be dim. She worked as a waitress briefly, but was soon caught stealing from the register and fired. She resolved to be more careful and was soon making ends meet primarily through petty theft. Pick-pocketing, disappearing in the night with dates' wallets, even the odd spot of car theft; she found that she did in fact have a skill that paid well, though it eventually left most of the bridges she made in cinders. As always, she resolved, she'd rely on herself and trust nothing but her own wits. As time went by, her methods became more sophisticated and she found that she could often talk people out of their valuables just as easily as she could snatch them. Eventually she stole from the wrong people and was caught, but narrowly escaped. Now on the run, she fled to Montreal to start over. Within a few months she met a wealthy consultant who offered to fly her to Paris with him and start a life together. She accepted and once they returned to his home she fleeced him and hit the road again. It was easy to disappear in Europe, staying in hostels or grifting her way from home to home and taking what she could. She tended to stick to tourist-heavy areas and typically avoided robbing locals, preferring obviously unwary sight-seers. In all the years she'd been on the street, however, she'd seldom had anyone to rely on or get close to. People were meal tickets, opportunities to lead her to a payday or a few nights somewhere comfortable or a ride down the road, one-time resources to be fully exploited and abandoned as soon as their immediate usefulness had reached its limit. As time went on her instability led to one harrowing experience after another with no real respite or sense of safety in between. From close calls with authorities or dangerous criminals to violent reprisals from those she was actually caught by, the years of chaos added up and took their toll. Her isolation turned to paranoia and her mind began to unravel. With no one to support her or even help her tell reality from her own fanciful misapprehensions, the outcome was all but inevitable. Now wandering in a fog of real and imagined threats, she made her way East. By the time the outbreaks began in 2017, she found herself imprisoned on Storozh for car theft and assaulting the police officer who apprehended her. As the infection spread throughout the facility she escaped with a group of fleeing prisoners and swam to the mainland. Falling in with bandits, she eventually robbed and abandoned them as well, striking it out on her own. Now she wanders South Zagoria holding up unwary travelers, sneaking into settlements, and taking what she can, once again treating the living as little more than walking bags of goods or tickets to much larger bags of goods.
  4. "It seems as though making my way to Novaya would be prudent, regardless of my final course of action. I will do so at the earliest possible opportunity. I hope to see you there, Dr Tatcher."
  5. *Her voice returns on the radio* "Ah yes, I misspoke. Kamensk not Kamenka. I seek the source of the outbreak, not a day at the beach, though I have many pleasant memories of the latter. I will take these warnings under advisement. I believe the information resulting from such an endeavor could be invaluable to my research and well worth the effort required to obtain the proper equipment, but I would like to be as prepared as possible before undertaking such a task and welcome any information I can obtain beforehand. I suppose I have some stops to make before embarking."
  6. *an woman's voice with a Chernorussian accent comes over the radio, an occasional slight rasp betraying her age* "I am Dr Yekaterina Cibulka, epidemiologist. I wish to hire the services of a mercenary group to accompany me on an expedition to Kamenka so that I may investigate the origins of the outbreak. I would like to leave as soon as possible. Please contact me via radio to discuss terms of an agreement."
  7. The daughter of Dominik Cibulka, a Chernorussian assembly-line worker, and Yelena Vetrova, a Russian engineer. Assigned to the same factory while Chernarus was dominated by the Soviet Union shortly after the 2nd World War, Dominik and Yelena fell in love and were wedded in September of 1951. By mid-June, they had given birth to their first child, Yekaterina. From a young age Katya excelled in science and mathematics, but had difficulty socializing. Going on to become a biologist, she immersed herself in her work to the exception of all other pursuits. Never having a family of her own and with few attachments to others, she took the crumbling of society in stride. At the start of the outbreak she was recruited by the Chernorussian government to help search for a cure to the infection, but made little progress before her lab was overrun. Narrowly escaping with her life and her notes, Katya continues her research on her own. Seeking out facilities and performing experiments on both the infected and the uninfected, the search for a cure has become her sole focus in life.
  8. I'm not arguing that it shouldn't be considered a condition, I'm saying that it should probably explicitly point out that it is in the rules. As it is 4.1 says that initiation requires an unambiguous demand and condition, it doesn't make it clear that simply pointing a gun at someone counts as a condition. Unless people go digging through reports looking for evidence they're probably going to find out by unintentionally granting someone defensive rights.

I like that it prevents people from standing around silently radioing their friends and requires a little more subtlety to deliver messages without being super obvious about it. However, it does make it hard to hear comms sometimes if you're around people who are on the same radio frequency as you and they're double-miccing. The echo is less than ideal. Overall, though, I think it adds to immersion while dealing with other groups by removing what is essentially psychic communication more than it detracts from communication among one's own group. Adding to what Camo said, I've also been left with a radio as a hostage since this rule was added and had a lot of fun subtly delivering messages to allies. I also found it interesting to have to go radio silent for a while after letting the group know I was being taken hostage until the aggressors returned my radio and told me to make contact.
  10. The precedent made by the decision in the thread linked below seems to contradict the wording of 4.1. I don't contest the ruling itself, but I think it would be helpful and appropriate to clear up any future confusion by explicitly calling out that pointing a gun at someone counts as a condition ("or you will be shot") and when accompanied by any demand constitutes an unambiguous initiation. There may be situations where RP would call for raising a weapon during which there is no intent to initiate on any target. If this rule explicitly called out aiming a weapon at someone as constituting a condition of failing to meet a demand, I'd expect there would be fewer reports and less confusion about potential invalid initiations.
  11. Upon reflection, I'd like to add to my initial report. I feel like ignoring my character model, Yiska's assertion that she's a lesbian, and my OOC correction and continuing to refer to her as male is also bad RP, on par with insisting that an imperfect accent negates a character's nationality. Before she ever pretended to be Jack Buzzsaw, G19 ignored her readily apparent gender. Frankly the continued insistence to do so in this thread feels very much like a violation of 1.1.
  12. "Shut the fuck up" is not an initiation. I made no threat (initiation requires a demand and a threat of consequence if the demand is not met) and immediately lowered my rifle. All Black Roses forces near the prison island died around 12:15 EST (4:15 UTC), well over 2 hours before this interaction. Again, if you watch the actual order of events in the video as indicated by the listed timestamps, the movement to cover was *before any demand was made*, let alone a threat of consequence. No opportunity to comply was given. As an aside, it's she, not he.
  13. Server and location: S2 Approximate time and date of the incident (SERVER TIME): 6:57 UTC Your in game name: Yiska Eigenmeow Names of allies involved: None Name of suspect/s: Unknown (Suspected Jaysh Allah members) Friendly/Enemy vehicles involved (if any): None Additional evidence? (video/screenshot): Detailed description of the events: I approached the trading post at Vybor (run by the Chernarus Trade Federation, not Jaysh Allah) and called out to see if any traders were there. Someone answers me that they are and tells me to come around back. Noticing an altercation going on in the street, I get closer to hear what's being said (Jihadists engaging in a homophobic interrogation) then turn around to go into the store, which is empty. Hearing gunshots outside, I run to the very back of the store, duck behind the shelves, put on a mask to cover my face, and pull my gun out in self-defense (having not heard any initiation yet). While I'm hiding behind the shelves two people walk in at different times and look through the gear laying around without saying a word. The first time I hear one of them speak, a man in a beige hat, it seems they're using an American accent, so I assume he's not associated with the Muslims. I speak to him and ask if the wahabists have left, and he comes behind me, now in an Arabic accent, and asks me about my support for "the gay agenda" and LGBTQ activism. I respond "I'm a fucking lesbian". I'm not sure what the guy in the blue hat is doing in terms of RP because he leaves with barely a word. At this point the guy in the beige hat runs outside yelling "this guy says he's a lesbian" and the rest of their group rushes in. He shows them where I am, while I raise my gun and whisper "shut the fuck up", but then lower it realizing that I'm hopelessly outnumbered. They start surrounding me, one saying "not cool" while the others insult me and question me about my sexuality. I adopt a gruffer voice and pretend to be a man named Jack Buzzsaw (my default plan of action for encountering Jihadists or slavers), but they're not buying it. One asks, without threatening, why I don't remove my mask, and I say it's comfortable. Another questions me about my Black Roses armband, which I say looks nice. He then backs up and raises his gun saying "you know what would look really nice?" I'm already moving forward when he starts saying to put my hands up and I'm shot, before he finishes his sentence, by both him and the person to the right of me. I was already moving by the time he made a demand (one not accompanied by a threat by the time I was killed) and I never raised my weapon. I was given no time to comply and no threat was delivered verbally before the execution. I believe this is Invalid Initiation, Invalid Kill and Attempted Invalid Kill, and Bad RP. I was already moving to avoid the direction he was pointing his weapon in by the time he started making any demands at gunpoint, so I was already taking steps in animation. You can also clearly hear that he didn't even finish the initiation before he and his ally shot me. For Bad RP, I sat in the store for nearly 6 minutes after being told (at the 4:33 mark) to come around back. When I finally did get RP, it was brief and had nothing to build on, with most of the interaction consisting of nothing but homophobia. One player seemed to lose his accent after he first came in, and I received barely any RP before being shot dead without justification. At the 12:20 mark, if you slow the playback speed (suggested speed .25) you can clearly see that I'm already moving and never made a move to raise my gun after having one pointed at me.
  14. Because red gloves match my medic jacket and my redpunk boots.
