  1. Mercy grew up an orphan, left on the institution doorsteps with very little chance of surviving. She was always a little smaller and slower than the other kids. To protect her, the staff sent her to a local farm at a young age where they hoped she would prosper. She worked the fields with the other hands, shucked the stalls, and learned to speak from them. Mercy was never taught how to read or write very well, one would evaluate it as equivalent to a first-grade level. When Mercy was nearing adult-hood the owners of the farm sent her to a family member that was building up a community, much like a little settlement. There Mercy became a nurse of sorts, following the doctor around and helping the best she could. Mercy never had any formal teachings and it was entirely uncertain if the doctor had an actual degree. Mercy did her best to stay out of trouble within the settlement since she was the only woman for quite some time. The settlement was open to the public, especially traders, and unfortunately, not all were upstanding. Despite her attachment to the doctor, Marcy began doing small tasks for the mayor. The mayor wanted the best for his pocket, and in turn, sold Mercy to a foreign trader in exchange for riches and a favor. Mercy was never the smartest of the bunch and easily manipulated so she got onto the merchant's boat thinking she was having a vacation. The journey on the sea was long and straining. Mercy was busy trying her best to keep the sick from dying with the little she knew. After some light prodding, Mercy was able to find out they were heading for Chernarus. Not entirely trusting of her company, Mercy vowed to herself she would do her best to expand her knowledge and become an official nurse in hopes of escaping. Mercy knew she wasn't meant to be stuck in some kitchen making biscuits, but Chernarus definitely isn't Kansas. Mercy is ready to roll with the punches life throws at her.
