  1. My name is Symon Harris, and I was born in the late summer of 1994. I was raised in a small, rural town in eastern Vermont, and after graduating from college with prestige in my field of Computer Engineering, I was immediately approached with a contract from a Turkish Government employee. They sought an engineer to upgrade Turkey's facial recognition and tracking software, and the contract was accompanied by a satisfying wage. With nothing keeping me tied to Vermont, I accepted the offer and arrived in July of 2016 in Samsun, Turkey. My contract thus ensued, and for the following year I diligently worked in the Government Office. Great strides were made in the software development of Turkish security, and as the end of my contract neared, I was again approached in June, 2017 with the offer of continuing my work for another year in Turkey. I had no later signed that contract to continue my work when I received multiple private alerts from my government agency, regarding the attacks from a Russian helicopter upon small towns. The weeks that followed that bombing have shaped my current status. By early August, the civilized Turkey that I had come to work for no longer existed. Hundreds of people fled south everyday from the fear that now ruled the world, and I was left to make my own decisions following the abandonment of the Turkish government. It had never occurred to me before that going north would be the answer, but on the morning of August 7, I headed to the docks of Samsun that boarded the Black Sea. Without turning back, I took only what I could carry in my arms onto a boat, and sailed towards my only chance of survival.
