Shawn Grey is a guitarist who is 30 years old, and was born on December 8, 1987 in Coloradosprings, Colorado. He was mostly raised by his single mother, since his father had left when he was 2. He is of French and Native American descent on his father's side, and Dutch and Irish on his mother's side. Shawn's grandmother introduced him to rock music, showing him a collection of Elvis Presley records from the 1950s to 1970s. He especially found songs like "Teddy Bear", "In the Ghetto", and "Suspicious Minds" to appeal to his interests the most, describing them as "good times". Shawn also began listening to Black Sabbath at a young age. By age 15, he had developed a drug addiction and had overdosed on cocaine twice. By this time, he was living in Cheyenne, but later set out on his own and ended up at his grandmother's house in Denver. She took legal custody of him so that he could continue going to school, and she helped him buy musical equipment. When Shawn was 18, he left his grandmother's house and went to start his band called "The Sickness" with his friends, Jim Jordison on vocals, Craig Wilson on drums, Paul Fehn on bass, and Sid Thomson on guitar. He has a wife and a dog at home in Denver, Colorado. He has experience with a gun since he occasionally goes hunting with his dog back at home. He has been in the band for 10 years and has played many shows over that amount of time. Him and his band got a offer to go on tour in Chernarus which they accepted. As he said his goodbyes to his wife and dog, he had no clue that maybe the last time he sees either of them.
