Growing up in the hills of NC, Neal learned the art of self-reliance. His town was as isolated as it gets on the east coast of the US. The skill that Neal leaned most heavily on was that of quiet observation. Which happens to be the one trait that made him the best reporter South of the Mason Dixon line. When Neal was assigned to the Marine expeditionary force sent to Chernarus, he jumped at the opportunity. But Neal knew nothing of the horror that would await him there. Neal's unit was tasked with clearing the beaches near Elektro, when they were suddenly attacked by a swarm of infected. Neal's instincts for self preservation kicked in immediately and he was able to escape.
