Rumors spread fast back then. It was all over the news and on social media. Apparently something big had gone down between the Chernorussians and the Russians. Shit was getting heated, and for some god damned reason they needed us to fly down there in case of a possible outbreak of some sort. Damned bastards couldn't contain a bird flu? Jesus. Little did we know, that wasn't the concern. They needed us on the ground right away but we were hours away from the containment zone near some place called Severograd. Shit got serious real soon, especially when we started to hear that our hometown was getting ready to evac. This wasn't good, and I couldn't leave my family back there. This job needed to be done quick. We got our hazmat suits on, along with some testing equipment, when our commander told us to take the assault rifles. Why would we need so much damn heat? They told us it wasn't for the Chernorussians or the Russians, but for something we'd never seen before. Sure wasn't just a bird flu.
