  1. Donovan March was born into a small family on a farm near Deerfield, Virginia, with two older brothers. Donovan was always seen as the runt of the family, unlike his two brothers he never excelled in sports or any manual activities. While his two brothers were busy picking up girls and playing Track and Field in high school, Don was more interested in becoming a doctor. Spending a majority of his time at school with his nose stuck in a book in the library. When Don graduated from high school, he applied to the West Virginia School of Medicine, where he was accepted. Don was always looking out for other people, he would often give his services for free to anyone who needed it to save them the extortionate hospital bills. One day on a summer break, Donovan was at home when a man was suddenly rushed to his house in the back of a pickup truck who had just recently broken his leg in a motorcycling accident. Don was sceptical about performing this procedure, as this was an open fracture, but he saw the man needed help and continued anyway. After a difficult procedure, the man was sent on his way and Don was left to clean up the blood left in his makeshift surgery. About a month passes, and Don returned to medical school. He was filling out paperwork in his dorm when he received a knock at his door, he opened it to see two police officers who promptly placed him in handcuffs and took him to the local station. Don later learnt that the man he treated for a broken leg had been taken into hospital due to unforeseen complications with his injury which had led to an infection. Don was charged with performing surgery without a medical license and was sentenced to eight years in prison. During this time, knowing full well he was never going to get his medical license after he was released, he continued to carry out freelance emergency aid within the prison, even after getting a prisoner transfer to Skalisty Island in Chernarus due to overcrowding in the US prison system. One night, Don was woken in his cell to the sound of scuffles and screaming, he assumed it was yet another fight broken out between Americans and Chernarussians and rolled over to try and get back to sleep. Suddenly came a huge roar coming from a cellblock down, it sounded like a prison riot, and one prisoner was waving a set of cell door keys in front of a helpless guard, covered in blood on the floor. The group made their way around as much of the prison as they could, unlocking and opening cell doors along the way. Soon they reached Don's cell. "You are lucky, American." one of the Chernarussians smiled at him before swinging his cell door open. "Now, my friend, we are free men."
  2. Thanks @Zero and @Brayces for the kind words! AEGIS: A Mercenary’s Tale Chapter One: Arrival Although a rarity, the peaceful and serene Chernarussian countryside is a pleasant sight, the vast rolling hills accompanied by the dotting of small farming villages would surely leave a mark in anyone’s mind. This was interrupted suddenly by a small squadron of BlackHawk helicopters flying overhead, loud and low enough to shake the ground itself. “Take a good look, boys, this is the best it’s going to get!” John Baker, a young man from Zimbabwe (although more proud to call it Rhodesia) turned in his seat to see who was speaking. “You mean we’re not going to get this view once we land?” He asked with a hint of sadness. His commander, William Briscoe, a fellow ‘Rhodesian’ gave a huge grin as he let out a sadistic laugh. “Believe me, it gets so much worse!” He let out another loud laugh as he leant forward to nudge the pilot. “How long until we land this piece of shit?” The pilot, clearly annoyed at the sudden comment, half-heartedly replied. “Five minutes” he mumbled, before flipping the sun-visor down on his helmet and returning his attention to his navigation. Accompanying the two men in the helicopter was a collection of fine men, hand-picked by Aegis to carry out defence, reconnaissance, and to maintain public relations with the local populace. Of these men were two riflemen, named Michael Smith and Hans Olsen. Both fine young men with extensive military background. John, who at this point became mesmerized by the rolling hills flying past him. He produced a cigarette box from his jacket pocket before placing one in his mouth. “Olsen! y’got a lighter there?” he shouted. The young Danish soldier, who had been silent up until now leant forward and replied “Yeah I got one somewhere, give me a minute” before digging one out of his webbing set. He then attempted to toss it over to John. John extended his gloved hand to catch the lighter. He could only watch in despair as it skipped along his fingers before plummeting to the ground. In an act of instinct -a split second mistake caused him to let go of the handle, the only thing keeping him from falling to his death. For John, time stood still. Could this be it already? Could he really die before touchdown? And worst of all, over a cigarette lighter? John closed his eyes and accepted his fate, if he dies then that’s it, it’s too late now to change that. “John you fucking idiot!” came a loud roar. He slowly and shakily turned his head around to see the other rifleman, Smith, with his hand clasped firmly to John’s webbing grimacing in pain as he struggles to lift him back up. Next to him was Briscoe who had now got up from his seat and had started practically foaming at the mouth. “Sorry, sir.” muttered John, his voice still clearly shaken by the ordeal. Briscoe’s face suddenly turned from red rage to a hearty smile as he assisted Smith in pulling John back into the chopper. “Ciggies aren’t worth dying over, brother.” Briscoe said, calmly. Smith then piped up “But they’re going to kill him anyway, sir!” he shouted while laughing. Briscoe, who luckily saw the funny side to this comment laughed loudly before replying “We’re Rhodesians. We never die.” John, who somehow still managed to keep his cigarette in his mouth, placed it back into his cigarette box. “He’s right.” He grunted as he lifted himself back into his seat. “We either go down in a firefight, or in a hospital after severe alcohol poisoning.” he joked as he nudged Briscoe with a smirk. “Hah!” he exclaimed as he slapped the back of John’s helmet. “That’s why he’s Alpha command! He knows what really matters!” John left the men to their discussion as he reached for his canteen. He shakily unscrewed the lid and took a brief swig before re-securing it back in his pouch. John then continued scanning the horizon as the men’s laughs echoed around him. He chuckled to himself silently before looking up with a smile before saying quietly to himself. “Rhodesians never die.”
  3. *John, holed up in a small room, holds the PTT to reply, before he could speak, he hears an unknown amount of people entering the building. He turns his radio volume to minimum and presses the PTT accordingly.* ... . .--. .- .-. .- - . -.. / ... . ...- . .-. .- .-.. / ..-. .- - .- .-.. .. - .. . ... / .-- .. .-.. .-.. / .-. . --. .-. --- ..- .--. / .-. .- -.. .. --- / ... .. .-.. . -. -.-. . / --- ..- - *on the last press, a very brief thud could be heard, transmission ends*

  5. Hi guys! In advance please excuse the sloppy writing for the introduction. I've recently decided to start writing an ongoing story, based off my character in DayZRP. I hope you guys enjoy the ride! AEGIS Introduction There isn’t much known about the country of Chernarus. A small nation of rich heritage and a broad history, scattered with small farming towns and villages. Each one brimming with locals always gleaming with pride of their country. Chernarus was, and still is a bit behind the times, but doesn’t go without it’s charming scenery and rich cultural heritage. That was until the day everything changed. The once peaceful and serene Chernarussian countryside became a constant warzone. During the first week, the country had already turned from a peaceful nation, desperate to rebuild after a long civil war, to a spectacle of chaos and war. No one knows exactly how the outbreak started, except that it all centred in a small plot of farmland just north of the town of Severograd. A large company called The Aegis Corporation, specializing in biological research and pharmaceuticals set out to Chernarus, accompanied by their own defence force as well as their ‘Countermeasure Service’, at the time only comprising of 7 men from all around the world who offered their services in return for vast wealth. This is their story.
  6. John was born into a large white family in 1988, long after the Bush war. Although the conflict was over, violence was still a more-than common scene. During the mass genocide he moved away with his parents to Johannesburg, South Africa. Here he saw documented the catastrophe of what he left behind. Desperate to gain military and tactical knowledge, he attempted to join the British army but was rejected numerous times due to not having British citizenship. After a long time making connections and hard research, he finally found a job opening for a company called 'The Aegis Corporation' working out of Chernarus.
  7. Alright so I've been having this thought recently, from what I've seen a few newcomers have a really tough time getting used to the rules and other things both in-game and on the forums. I'm not sure if this has been suggested before but I was thinking a very short series of brief videos to teach newcomers all the ins and outs of becoming a part of the DayZRP community. I was thinking maybe: Episode 1: Brief introduction to DayZRP, basic rules Episode 2: Creating a profile and whitelisting application Episode 3: Character creation Episode 4: Your first RP encounter Episode 5: Making friends/forming alliances/CampfireRP Episode 6: HostileRP Episode 7: HostileRP Part 2: TortureRP Episode 8: Extras on the forums (beans, ranks etc) Episode 9: Overview and summary What I'm hoping to accomplish with this idea is that if someone is unsure of the rules or gameplay, they can simply be sent a link to the video which covers it. Now I'm after opinions. Could this idea work? If so could it work well? Is there anything I'm missing? And of course, has this been done before?
  8. *Tommy grunts as he climbs into his secluded tent, nestled between two pine trees in the wilderness. He is in the process of removing his rucksack when he is interrupted by the voice on the radio. He sighs and presses the PTT, a harsh cockney voice can be heard.* "Now what's all this then? I'm afraid I might be a bit late to the party here posh-boy so I reckon you're on your own." *He pauses as he mouths to himself "Posh-boy? Fucks sake you can do better than that." He continues* "Alright then my 'lord', this cry for help would be much more helpful if you gave your whereabouts, we're not all mind-readers around here. That being said I can already tell you're very ill-equipped. You need guns? I have guns. You need supplies? I can supply. Until then, have fun holding out your little siege." *He releases the PTT as he casually tosses the radio into the corner of the tent. Shaking his head he carries on unpacking.*
  9. Okay so I've been caught up in this a few times: Example Scenario: My character's been perma-killed, gone out in a blaze of glory, very sad moment. So I bring up a new character. The first person my new character meets asks about his backstory (Where are you from, why are you here etc.) Now a few times I've been caught in the headlights when questioned as to why my character doesn't know anyone or the current politics etc. So I end up replying with "Uhh well.. I've been keeping to myself." How do you guys play this out?
  10. I usually find it hard to find an impromptu RP partner but don't let it get you down! It's best not to go out looking for some RP but let the RP come to you You can also use the 'alone time' to develop your character like I do! I always imagine solo DayZ as a very, very long movie introduction, I go into monologue mode as if it's a narrative while I'm running around looting. It immerses you a lot more and also teaches you more about your own character which is weird!
  11. Tommy was brought up in the quiet suburbs in Lewisham, London. From a young age Tommy had always been a gambler, he would occasionally actually organise fights within the playground at school and ask his schoolmates to place bets, resulting in him taking a tidy profit. Tommy got his ways with money from his father, who was also a gambler, but then he was also an abusive alcoholic with severe depression. Because of this, the money that Tommy made would go towards the upkeep of the house, and trying to help his father regardless of the abuse he received. When Tommy left school at the age of 16, he befriended a group of Irish travellers, Gypsies. At this time Tommy learned he was never much of a fighter, after being invited to numerous sparring sessions with the Gypsy bare-knuckle boxers. Although he wasn't good with his hands, he saw this as a major business opportunity and started organising unlicensed boxing matches. By the time he was 20 he attracted the attention of many large names in the London criminal underworld. Fast-forward 3 years. After a total of 7 years spending every penny he had on helping his alcoholic father, Tommy's old man tragically took his own life jumping off the London Bridge. It was later that Tommy discovered that a lot of money he had made for his father wasn't spent on alcohol, drugs, or prostitutes. It was to pay off a loan shark that he borrowed money from to put Tommy through school. Tommy decided to track down the elusive loan shark, and when he did, interrogated him on how he could live with himself after driving his father to suicide. It was at this point that the shark explained that Tommy's father didn't kill himself. He was in-fact killed by the shark's goons. £200 away from clearing his debt. At this point Tommy erupted into rage and flipped the office table over before pinning the shark against a wall. He already realised the mistake he made as two of the sharks goons quickly pulled him off the man and threw him across the room. At this point, before the goons could pummel Tommy, the shark waved them off, and explained that he'd heard of Tommy and understood why he erupted, and respected him as a businessman and entrepreneur. He Told him he had two options. Stay in the UK and forever be on the run from the shark and his contacts. Or run. Tommy chose the latter, and was swiftly thrown £1000 in cash. Tommy packed it all in his bag and scarpered out the door. He hailed a cab and took it to London Airport. And paid, in cash, a one-way ticket to Chernarus.
  12. Been away and now I'm back and probably already way behind in the new lore.

    Asking out of need {Open Frequency}

*Henry, crossing an open field, cracks his first smile in a long time as he overhears the conversation on the radio. He breaks into hysterics and is heard laughing as he presses the PTT* "Isaac is it? You soppy prick! Man the fuck up get your own food!" *He pauses as he tries to compose himself* "People like you.. I mean seriously how are you still alive!?" *His voice is heard turning suddenly serious as he addresses the other male voice* "As for you, I need to see you soon. Certain matters need discussing." *He releases the PTT as he continues his journey*

GOD SAVE THE QUEEN [Open Freq/Cavaliers]

*Henry sits down in an abandoned general store, and opens his rucksack to admire his collection from a hard day's work gathering food and supplies. He strikes a match to light his gas stove which he places a can of beans over. He jolts as he hears the voices on his radio and pauses before holding the PTT button* "So he's dead, huh? Shit. Was it those fucking Ukrainians? They've been fucking with these guys for too long. And now they take out Ashford?" *Henry can be heard raising his voice as his anguish turns to anger* "They've unleashed a fucking shit-storm! I've warned them in the past and now they do this!?" *He pauses, as he returns with a much calmer voice.* "Ashford was a great man. An honest man. A selfless man. He probably always knew me as 'That guy who won't stop calling himself a one-man-army.'" *He is heard chuckling to himself as he composes himself.* "Time to live up to my name." *He releases the PTT button and sits, continuing to stare into the subtle blue flames of the stove as he lifts the beans off. He places the beans next to him as he suddenly decides he's not hungry and rolls over to sleep.*
  15. Alright so this has happened to me a few times. A number of times when I've encountered hostile RP I've found that although the aggressors generally do roleplay very well and I try and give my best RP back, does anyone else feel like all the effort put into your character is kind of overlooked? I know that might not have made sense so say for instance I get taken hostage, here I know RP is limited but I still do what I can (try and negotiate, bargain, sometimes beg idk) and you're replied with (generally) "shut up or you die" Now here I know that this isn't exactly the time to dish out your life story, but something that I discovered is that in a majority of hostile RP, little effort is made to actually 'get to know' the character. It doesn't matter if you're a man, woman, child/whatever you'll still be told to shut up either way. Now what are people's thoughts? Do you prefer it this way? Or do you wish you had more of a chance to use your character's characteristics more? Asking only because I'm planning on making my first "bad guy" character and want to make sure everyone I come across enjoys the RP.

Extreme abuse of Ooc / nvfl S1 Lopatino 2330

That was me. I wasn't being serious about it I was saying it in a joking manner, I wouldn't have acted on it and wasn't expecting anyone else to either as I know that would be clear metagaming. hardly audible but I did laugh a little afterwards. It was only the cavaliers in the Teamspeak so I had no way of conversing with the guy who opened fire first. I know how it seems but it is purely a coincidence.

    TEATIME - [OPEN FREQ]

*Henry is sat in a hunting platform drinking from his hipflask. He looks down at the half-finished 'surgical procedure' on his thigh, dreading that he'll eventually have to dig the bullet fragments out. He sighs as he hears the conversation on the radio, and presses the PTT.* "Mr. Ashford. Nice to hear your voice once again... Was wondering what happened to everyone." *Henry is heard coughing and spluttering over the radio as he grunts in pain from his leg* "Don't worry, I know where you boys are, don't you worry.... You still there Daley? Haven't heard from you in a while, we need to catch up my friend." *Henry releases his PTT, throwing his radio across the platform and looks down at his leg. He places his bandanna in his mouth and grits his teeth while he draws his machete. And begins cutting the bullet fragments out.*

Extreme abuse of Ooc / nvfl S1 Lopatino 2330

Henry Wilkinson's POV: Okay so myself and the Cavaliers were venturing to Lopatino to meet up with Miss Smith, we eventually got to the church and started a fire as it was raining heavily, over time more and more people turned up and we had some pretty good RP going, the two groups were sitting around the fire exchanging stories and playing/listening to music. There was some semi-hostile RP between myself and a member of the other group (only in the sense of being distrustful and eyeing another down from across the room.) There were a few scares, member of the other group would leave the church and we'd hear gunshots which would later turn out to be them shooting infected. I go back inside the church from guard duty to sit by the fire, suddenly I see the man I was eyeing down sprint out the back door so I promptly follow where I'm confronted by a man in a ghillie suit who then initiates (I personally think they thought there were a lot less of us) During the initiation the front door was open briefly, I heard one man go "stop the truck!" And they opened fire on a passing truck, (I didn't see any text initiation but I was on the other side of the church so I might have been out of range) There was some RP and the accused was lagging, as seen from video evidence he does draw his weapon, and yes the men opened fire. Although I must disagree when the accusee states he opened fire. He was shot a couple times and died, after he died the fire continued and 3 of the hostiles are hit. The RP continued from there, the hostages continued to comply as they were bandaging, one man pulls out his M4 (I think) and opens fire on the hostiles, killing 2 or 3, I see this as an opportunity and draw my magnum fiiring 4 rounds at the man behind me, he turned his fire on me and we both died. ..
  19. *Henry walks through the tattered remains of his camp, becoming increasingly angry as he rifles through the collapsed tents looking for his belongings. He finds an old rucksack, riddled with bullet holes and practically useless, he rummages inside it regardless and finds a battered yet still operable radio, he flings the rucksack aside and holds the PTT button* "Right... you little fucks. You know who you are and so do I.... The camp at the dam? You might not know me but believe me when I say I'm not someone you want to fuck with." *He pauses as he finds his trusty machete still in it's sheathe. he clips it to his belt as he continues* "You guys probably think that you're doing the right thing here, maybe you're just looking out for your group and see us as a threat and I understand that, but believe me when I say this..." *He pauses again as he tries to refrain from shouting, tapping the side of his slung shotgun* "You're wrong if you think this group is a threat. I know I'm no saint but I know good people when I meet them... Me on the other hand... You may think you've seen the worst, lived through hell but honestly..." *He pulls on his white balaclava and continues* "You haven't seen anything yet. You think you've seen evil? You couldn't be more wrong. I'm coming for you." "He releases the PTT, clipping the radio to his belt as he carries on searching through the wreckage."
  20. "'Ello there my good sir/madam, do you have the time to talk to a fellow traveller like myself?" Depends on the circumstances really, I don't even know why I made such a charismatic character...
  21. Agreed, I've seen so many heated arguments in reports (I'm a bit of a reports creep so I've seen it all) These arguments could be easily avoided if the OP has some time to play a bit more, re-gear and RP a bit more (if they don't decide to call it a day/night) so hopefully they'll be in a better state of mind for civilised discussion.
  22. I couldn't agree with this more, the whole point we have an age restriction on DayZRP is so that we can ensure a sensible and mature community. I think a big problem is that people do get angry at the game easily and it is frustrating when you die, regardless of the circumstances (as made clear from a recent video evidence I posted when I went a lil ragey when I died) About 2 weeks ago I was misidentified and killed-on-sight, i was getting ready to post my first report until Lyca poked me on TS and brought me into an OOC chat with the party that killed me. The other player couldn't have been more courteous and apologized for the situation to which I accepted the apology and we left it on a high note. The fact that people overreact and cry to admins is a problem because it also stirs up OOC hate which isn't healthy for the community at all. On a last note there are only so many admins, and I'm sure they have much better things to do than sort out childish arguments over things that can easily be sorted out on TS.
  23. Alright so recently I've come across several cases of 'camp griefing' where someone's come across an empty camp with several tents, help themselves to loot, move the tents around and claim the camp as their own, now I know there's nothing in the rules that prevents this, but it has brought up a discussion as to whether or not it's some sort of unwritten rule not to rearrange and claim inhabited camps. One interesting point was that if the inhabitants are offline then there's a chance that characters are 'sleeping' in said tents so would it be BadRP to move the tents? What are people's thoughts?
  24. The thing is it's not going to be aimed at you personally, I mean my character has a lot to do with the Cavaliers and as they're predominantly British a lot of people poke fun at the Cavs for it, but as a British person I don't get offended At the end of the day, 9 times out of 10 it's the character that is mean to your character, Not the player being mean to you personally. What I would do is if you think the RP is going too far in terms of racism then just say in OOC something like "this is too much can you tone down the racism" But then on the other hand it might effect the RP experience. Hope my input helps
