A balance of groups would be nice but it's difficult to enforce it. Hero type group tend to give up due to it being very difficult to try to be lawful in a unlawful environment. This isn't something new though, bandit groups are needed to add that bit of danger but when there aren't groups trying to push back it can get a bit tedious for the neutral/peaceful groups as those bandit groups then focus on them. I think the big issue is when bandit groups become too friendly with each other which feels like that's all is on the server so the smaller peaceful groups turn into an easy meal. In theory this should motivate those groups to try to push back however that's easier said than done. Predictability isn't fun either if a group just robs, robs and robs. It shouldn't be a simple as "we're a bandit group so we do bandity things". I like bandit groups that are unpredictable, and they keep you guessing. On the reverse those peaceful groups or individuals shouldnt be predictable either, if you expect to get the same old 'take your stuff RP' your RP in turn will be the same. Your almost tempting fate. Back in the mod SDS were one of the most infamous PvP groups (by reputation) due to their amazing fight win record, however if you went with their initiation their RP was fantastic, some of which I experienced several times myself but no one ever seems to mention that (their RP). There are some great bandit groups right now and if you let them will show the great RP that they can give you. However if you push back and don't comply then there is only one outcome. Remember everyone involved in the interaction can push the RP (or PvP) in a particular direction. It's fine to push back against these naughty bandit groups but there is a time and a place. I love to see some more hero groups pop up though, I was considering rebooting The Gray Fangs but that is still under debate (with myself). Not sure what the interest would be. How much I would like to see The Trinity of Heroes return (Cerberus, Task Force Whiskey and The Gray Fangs) we certainly pushed back, didn't always win but we stood up for the small guy. Anyway, I've talked enough for one post.

Heya, you don´t know me but I wanted to make myself known with a statement/question( Whoah, dude... That´s risky. Yeah, I know) so here we go.. How about we make rule or something about groups so that there can´t be too many bandit group, not too many friendly groups etc. Because right now the bandit groups are soooo many and many of them are ganging up on the smaller friendly communities and I mean how much fun can it be always destroying these smaller factions/groups? I mean in the end you do not have anyone to face off against. I do not want to limit anyones roleplay but this is ridiculous, I usually get robbed on an average 2 times a day. That might not be that much.. But it should be. Most times hostile/robbery rp isn´t enjoyable for anyone but the bandits. You get shot over talking back and stuff and you might say "That is just realism hurr durr.." Well how realistic is it that all these bandit groups cooperate with each other if one looks at the lore? Not very, so could we please chill on the "Get ur fucking hands in air or we shoot ur head off." You already have all the weapons on the map, just take one day and chill so we other people can have enjoyable roleplay. (I know some hostile/robbery rp is enjoyable but as I said most times it isn´t.) Thanks for reading and hearing this idiot out. Have a good night/day Please respond if you feel I am either a retard or the smartest man you´ve met:) I want your opinions. Hey maybe you can change my mind Your bestest pal, Hanro

Right around the corner, creepin'. On a more serious note, I wish I had the time and drive to reboot Cerberus but I don't see it happening. Cerberus lore was tied very closely to the formation of the Trade Post so a complete re-write would have to be done. I also don't see myself opposing a mostly hostile server, getting shoved into a map corner only to dissipate into nothingness under a few weeks because we can't have nice things. Not worth the trouble. I for myself have never been really fond goodie-two-shoes characters and prefer to surf the grey line. I think it brings more depth, realism and unpredictability. I don't feel like being boxed into the "good guy" archetype. Everyone's should have something that will make them snap and break, go overboard or act impulsively. Being predictable is boring which is why the current hostile roleplay is stale. Within a few seconds of meeting, you can tell where they're steering the situation and it's easy to call it, no surprise.

It's been the same all throughout DayZRP's lifespan. There's always been more bandits than heroes, it's been like that since the mod days (though there has been a point to near equality. I remember at some point in the mod the largest hero groups bundled forces and actually managed to hold out against the bandits for a while. And the Northern Alliance in Standalone, if I recall correctly) it'll continue like that until the game/community fizzles out in the future. The difference currently is that there's zero drive to make any hero groups due to repeating cycle that's been more prevalent in Standalone than the Mod. Some hero group pops up, they build up a bit of strength, settle somewhere and proceed to get absolutely destroyed once the bigger powerhouses get wind of them. I don't blame people for not even bothering to start up something new if all that's going to happen is maybe a good few weeks of initial RP followed by constant IC (Solely in character, remember, this is just a game) harassment and attacks until members quit and the group goes inactive/archives. One example from the earlier Standalone would be the NFC. We attempted to hold a town for a while and it went pretty well. However, at some point the IC strongarming and attacks became too much to reasonably enjoy the RP that came with it. That's not to say it's impossible. But in the end, people play this to get away from reality. And if you escape from reality only to have to face constant hostility I can imagine that wears out real fast and you either stop playing or become a bandit yourself. It's a bit of a cheesy quote, but "You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain" really applies to most of the DayZRP playerbase. Do you take in three-headed strays?

As me and my mother always say, "Too many chiefs, not enough Indians." I tell my group to not put anything valuable in the tents of the camp we DID stay at since we have had 3 break ins, one of them someone tried griefing and another us all being offline whilst being raided by a very large group for one to log on and be strong armed. I was asleep when all of this happened. This is what drives people to hide on the edges of maps or leave the server for weeks/months/forever. Then (as it happened many of times as a community discussion once before) threads are made complaining why people are hiding and how said person can't find roleplay or reports are tossed here there and everywhere for it. It is unfortunate. Normally there is a balance between hostile groups and roleplaying/campfire groups. But this doesn't seem to be the case currently. I've seen bandit groups and campfire groups, the attitudes both sides persue - everything. I have been apart of a hostile group (non-official) but stuck around them to see how it can be perceived and done (as my child character). And I have been apart of campfire roleplaying many of times (as we all probably know). I've had many people start to state that this is becoming DayZPvP with a bit of talking and this isn't really an impression we want to give to new comers. And then what happens? Not only the hostile groups shoot back but the non-hostile groups. Why? Because OOCly there drive of being pushed about/strong armed/ have tiny excuses to get them harassed starts to get to them. Then no roleplay involvement happens because everyone is shooting at each other. Which is basically the butterfly effect: In chaos theory, the butterfly effect is the sensitive dependence on initial conditions in which a small change in one state of a deterministic nonlinear system can result in large differences in a later state. There is nothing we can really do unless the big boss steps in or some of the hostile groups archive and join other hostile groups to condense the differences. But the hostile groups will have the same characters or goals. It's unfortunate but again: Too many chiefs, not enough Indians.

Rough Translation - Nomads of the Forest The story of Reika Skògur starts with a lone nomad by the name of Aiden Walsh. Aiden was always the quiet solitary type, he generally kept to himself. Once the infection stuck and Aiden found himself trapped in the South Zagoria region, Aiden was quick to adopt a life in the forests and mountains. Avoiding town and cities and only venturing away from his camp to hunt animals for food and to gather water. One day after months alone in the wilderness, Aidens camp was discovered by a group of locals who weren't interested in being friends. Aiden had heard them coming from a distance and took off running through the trees. Unfortunately for Aiden, the bandits had already spotted him and began chasing him. After about a hundred meters of running one of the bandits fired a shot from his rifle which hit Aiden in the leg. Tumbling to a halt Aiden clutched the bleeding wound and slid into a burrow formed by a fallen tree. Hiding and trying to be a quiet as he could Aiden ripped the sleeve off his shirt and tried to dress his wound. By a sheer stroke of luck, the bandits would end up running right past Aiden’s hiding spot and begin searching the nearby woods. Eventually, the group decided they weren’t going to find Aiden and left the area. Crawling out of the burrow and unable to hold weight on his left leg. Aiden used his knife to cut down a nearby sapling to fashion a makeshift crutch. Stumbling back to his camp to find it completely looted and razed. Wounded, defeated and hopeless Aiden sat in the dirt of his destroyed camp not knowing what to do. Eventually, Aiden was getting delirious from blood loss and he accepted his death. Aiden wrote a short message on some scrap paper in his native language (Icelandic) it read “Frá náttúrunni, í náttúrunni kemur ég aftur.” As Aiden signed the note he fell unconscious. “Hey brother, hey we gotta move” Aiden was awoken by the voice of a man wearing U.S Military fatigues. “They’re coming back, I think they saw me coming up here”. Still dazed and shaky, Aiden mumbled incoherently and tried to stand but fell over from the pain. “Alright, buddy I guess we’re holding here then” the man pulled his sidearm from its holster and handed it to Aiden. “I’m going to go keep them busy. Don’t shoot me, I just saved your life”. Aiden nodded and stared at the pistol as the man picked up his rifle and disappeared into the woods. Aiden sat in silence for a moment before automatic gunfire broke out in the woods nearby. The chaos snapped Aiden back into reality and he cocked the pistol and began scanning the nearby forest. After a few minutes of gunfire, the wilderness settled in silence once again. Aiden through his cloudy vision saw a man climbing up the nearby bank and aimed the pistol. Shaking and terrified Aiden fired a shot at the figure, which hit the tree beside. “Woah Jesus fuck buddy, I said don’t shoot me”. Aiden let out a long sigh of relief as the voice was the same one that he awoke to. “I'm Sean by the way” Sean says as he sits down beside Aiden. “Aiden” Aiden mumbles in a raspy dry voice. “Well, Aiden, you sound like shit. Here have some water” Sean reaches into his rucksack and slides out a canteen, unscrews the lid and hands it to Aiden. Aiden grabs the canteen and starts chugging down the water. “Easy there buddy, you were basically dead just a few minutes ago” Sean explained. Aiden choked down one more mouthful and handed the canteen back to Sean. “Wait a second did you?… I mean back there” Aiden shakily asked. “Of course they shot you and would have shot me, but they’re God's problem now” Sean answered and continued “We gotta move though, there are bound to be more on the way. How’s the leg?”. Aiden was quiet for a moment then replied “I- Uh, yea just need a crutch I can move” The two then packed up what they could, took the rifles off the dead bandits and headed North. Along the way, while passing through a town Aiden and Sean heard yelling and gunfire coming from the other side of the town. Moving closer to investigate, taking a position in a 2 story building they could see 2 men trapped in a shop down the street fighting off infected. “We gotta help them” whispered Aiden. “Yeah, well there’s a lot of freaks out there” replied Sean. “I’ll cover from this window, and you watch the door downstairs” he continued. Aiden nodded and limped to a position by the front door. Upstairs Sean began opening fire on the infected down the road. Aiden shattered the window on the main floor with his pistol and began firing as well. After all the infected were dead the town sat in silence for about an hour. Finally, the two that were trapped originally came out of the shop and were yelling “Hello!?” “Anyone out here, thanks for the help!”. Sean replied from the second-floor window “Yea who are you two!?, get in here!” The two outside came running over to the house and introduced themselves. “I’m Eddie” said the first. “Slavoj, uuuh thanks again” continued the other. The four eventually made it to the hills and dense forests of the North along with some scavengers they picked up along the way. The group decided to set up camp near a small settlement they discovered. One night around the campfire Aiden decided the group needed a name and he decided to go with Reika Skògur which means Nomads of the Forest in Icelandic. The group started a healthy farm of vegetables and spices and began trading with the nearby settlement. Keeping to themselves, Rekia Skògur strongly defends their territory, trades their food stock for what they need and is always looking for more survivors needing sanctuary and purpose. 1. Set up a strong and hidden base in the woodland of the North (Day 680) 2. Set up a publicly known trade hub in the North (Day 725) 3. Set up stashes around the general area of our base in case of raids (Day 725) 4. Establish a foothold in the North through presence and group ally attempts (0/5 Day 725) 5. Recruit more people to assist in defending the group and the group home (Indefinite) 6. Train and send scavengers on scavenging missions across the map (Indefinite) 7. Maintain a well-stocked food and weapons supply (Indefinite) The Bosses: Aiden Walsh Sean McCallahan Security Sergeant: Vacant Scavenger: Andrew Kyle Walden Eddie Jameson Security: Corey Nines Slavoj Milosevic Commoner: Kennedy Anderson Traveler: Mack Gruber

Bump to the thread. Loot economy is still broken. Are there not that many guns that spawn? Doubtful. Stashes are still an issue. A 48 timer is pointless as they can’t just hop in game every other day and re bury the stash. I know because that’s what I did (I got bored of re burying as I really don’t care about loot). We had three dry bags full of high tier guns. That’s two guns per bag for a total of six. That’s not including tent and barrels. We had five barrels, two tents. Now imagine every other person on the server doing this.

"You can pretty much overdose on anything" -Unknown Entity It really depends on how you wish to roleplay this as a roleplayer. If you wish for your character to have an allergic reaction you can. However this drug mainly is an extremely strong antidepressant. Overdosing on this drug due to a lot of the dangerous chemicals seen in this drug is more than possible. However it would take heavy amounts of it to do so.

B-b-but Misho! I need my SVD, MP5, and 5.56 to RP effectively! I can't play my character unless I have it! My grandfather gave me that SVD! Misho PLS. /s Sarcasm aside, I'm with Misho on this. If the Dev straight up tells you nothing has changed in terms of loot and in fact MORE guns have been added I'm starting to think maybe perhaps possibly it's not a loot issue at this point ... If we remove underground stashes you will hear a hoot and hollering from people who have them when they suddenly lose them. @Misho can the ability to remove Loot Stashes even be accomplished in the game from a Mod standpoint? I'm unsure how that works and if it mucks with the core functionality of the game, such as the animation stagger and collision weapon stances.

If people got all the gear they got they are not going to robb random people without history but rather do rp stuff make deals and so on. @Roland, I am pleading with you to reconsider your stance on Sexual RP and Rape RP in this community. It is the apocalypse and yes, if it were real, atrocious sexual acts would be committed against men and woman. But please, don’t make us subjected to them for the sake of realism. I fail to see how sexual harassment and rape is so necessary to RP that you would risk distressing members of the community to allow others to fulfil their twisted fantasies. The woman of this community (and some men) are not playthings to be humiliated, degraded, paraded around, called whores, made sex slaves and forced or pressured into RP of a sexual nature. I find it disturbing that there are people in this community who are so eager and willing to engage in this type of RP, exploiting the rules to take all control away from victims, leaving them no choice but to be subject of unwanted sexual behaviour. Below are some points I feel are worthy of consideration: Saying No: In real life, there are countless situations where girls have been brutally raped without saying no or fighting back. There are physical and psychological reasons for this. Many people in real life situations are left unable to react due to fear or shock. They may be in a coercive or controlling relationship with their rapist, or they may be too young to give consent. It is very easy to look at a situation in hindsight and say, well why didn’t you just go OOC and say stop. But in reality, it is far more complicated than that. There are plenty of occasions in game where I wish I had gone OOC to say stop. Not wanting to ruin immersion, not wanting to cause OOC conflict, or because I was caught off guard in the chaos of the situation and didn’t quite know how to react in the moment. Another thing to keep in mind is that while permission must still be asked to power game a character, the events leading up to the request and the request itself can still be distressing and of a sexual nature. The rules give people who want to indulge in rape and other sexual RP permission to attempt to seek out victims. Putting the burden on the victim of sexual abuse to end the situation is in my opinion, is a rather disgusting stance to have. To say following an event that its okay because she didn’t say no astounds me. I understand that it is a game, but the emotion and psychology of peoples actions is not all too dissimilar to real life in my opinion. Comparing rape and torture: While everyone may have triggers based on their real life experiences, this is not a valid argument in my opinion. Torture for most people is something so far out of the realms of what they have experienced that it’s almost impossible to truly imagine being subjected to it. However, rape and sexual assault is something that has most likely affected each one of us in some way. Most women here will have had to deal with unwanted sexual attention, and its not always as simple as saying no to make it stop. Unlike torture, its easy to imagine the feel of someone holding you down and forcing themselves upon you. It’s deeply distressing and not something that people should be subjected to in game. Age: As there is no way to verify age on this server, how can the rules possibly allow content of a sexual nature? Inciting minors to engage in sexual activity would violate laws in most of the world. Asking someone to ERP without making reasonable efforts to ensure that they are legally of age to consent risks violating criminal law. In addition, someone under age cannot legally consent to sexual activity, so even gaining //permission would not be valid. Allowing sexual RP in the rules may result in children either observing or participating is something that they should not be exposed to. Whether from a legal or moral standpoint, how can this be permitted on the server? Is allowing people to indulge in rape RP really such an essential part of role play that it should be allowed to continue, regardless of the distress and divide it causes in this community? Was the quality of RP any less when there were rules against sexual, racist and homophobic RP? Enough is enough. This is a game. We are here to have fun. Please change the rules to protect us.

God please YES! Put the death timer same as the character change timer. You died? Go play another character for a day and chill. That might mitigate the endless waves of attacks on settlements or groups. In my opinion, players who die in PvP situations they willingly participated in should have to shelve their characters after a certain numbers of times.

Pretty much what Jack said here, The loot economy not spawing high tier gear makes robberies much more common since anyone who does have that high tier gear will not be going safe at all. Since almost everyone wants the high tier stuff it makes them rob people for it which increased the rate of robberies and the formation of bandit groups

There will always be hostileRP'ers and PvP'ers. There's a difference. HostileRP'ers are here to have HostileRP and provide it to you, regardless of gear or location. PvP'ers probably still have the PUB mentality, will run around the triangle, or down south and attack any settlement, group or player(s) on end ad nauseam until that group/player(s) moves or stops playing for a bit. In my experiences this is what I've come to learn; - Decent HostileRP'ers will RP out their injuries, will perma when it makes IC sense, will have internal and external development and will want to talk to you OOC after a encounter to ensure you had a good time or to get feed back. - PvPers will not RP out injuries, will not perma, will shit post on the forums about how you're "salty" over your lost gear, provide lackluster RP(All that silence while they rifle through your jacket and pants...), will brag about their elite PvP skills and complain about how people always hide in debug because they don't want to be attacked all day long by them. Sadly, you can't always avoid the PvPers, even if the HostileRP'ers make it worth it. Just don't lump all Hostile Players into the same grouping, because they're not the same types of people. Also, we likely won't see any rules about capping groups or preventing people from playing Hostile characters or being in Hostile Groups. You set a Group Cap everyone will band under one Group Name and do the same thing there but under one name. I do prefer when the Hostile Groups aren't all getting along, simply because they have friends in each group. It makes more sense IMO when people (specially Hostile people) are fighting one another as that would be the biggest threat to their operation/IC Goals. The fallout from these conflicts affects the non-hostile players as well, and helps to cultivate a interesting and engaging server environment. Here are some tips you can try and employ to make your experiences a bit more bearable. Brayces QUIK TIPZ(mostly for new players): - Don't run around in fully kitted M4s and Ghillies and ALICE packs with vests, etc. You know the look. ^ Looking like a SNACC will get the ATTACC. - Avoid major HUBs or RP Settlements. They are often targets of initiations or fire fights. ^ Dis da Triangle, don't go here unless you wanna FITE and get robbed, 'cause 9/10 times that is what is gonna happen. - When getting robbed by a group or person(s), but be cool, man. Be cool. Don't shit talk, try and value your life. Act like you're scared and attempt some RP. ^ I find that people tend to give more RP when you act realistically than when you sit there like a grump because someone's taking your shiny SVD and Assault Vest. - And lastly, don't get attached to gear. ^ With the Item Shop we have now, any gear that gets taken I'm likely to just spawn it back in once the timer is up. Does this mean my canteen, scope, pack and rifle come along too? No, but you can use that as a RP reason to go looting again. \o/ After all at it's core DayZ is just "run and loot simulator." Thank you for coming to my TEDTalk.

hot take comin in from one of these dirty hostile RPers... There's like 5 different friend groups that are the hostile groups currently. They archive, create new groups, etc. What do you expect? It's the roleplay they enjoy. However, out of these ~5 or so groups, only 1 or 2 of them actually make RP sense and have RP as a top priority. And it's never the same group of people. There's times when after RPing out so seriously the different conflicts and none of the other hostile groups want to go along with at and all they wanna do is PVP, you get tired of putting in all the effort. Then one or two of the other groups go for it. Honestly, people need to just take breaks from the game as a whole more often and come back refreshed. Logging on 5 times a week for months on end is just going to lead you to put forth less effort and make things less enjoyable for all.
