*Niall would chuckle listening to the edgy bastard talking big over HF frequencies * Stary's dead because no one is there plain and simple. As for this edgy miss nancy, anyone who claims they are a "dangerous fella" is probably as dangerous a baby kitten in a safety vest. You keep talking big boy like that and you gonna find yourself in an actual dark place where the sun don't shine during the day lad. Niall, out *PTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT*

*Everest sighs and rubs his temples, getting a headache from the man's annoyingly bland voice.* Muttering: "Alright you little fucking gerbil..." More Clearly: "Ok, listen up rodent- and listen fucking good since I will say this ONCE. Back. The Fuck. Off. Go scamper back to whatever little god damned sorry burrow in the woods you call home and leave us actual people alone. This is not just a suggestion. This is a warning. 'Cause if you don't do as I say... I will have you killed. I will butcher your corpse. I will take that thick, worthless skull of yours from your body. I will clean it, and clean it, and clean it- until it's pearly fucking white. And I will use it as a new paperweight. SINCE THAT'S WHAT YOUR LIFE IS FUCKING WORTH. *He takes a deep breath, composing himself after yelling so much.* "Use this opportunity to run. You will not get another one..." *He goes to click off his radio, but pauses and hits the PTT again.* "Oh yeah. And if you think what I said is just all talk- go ask about what happened to Max. Or Levi, for that matter..."

    1. What do you mean by "Weird or Funny" Character? (Intro) Basically the type of character I'm going to be explaining how to create and play is what the community would often call a "troll" character, however the reason that I'm writing this guide is to hopefully help eliminate some of the stigma that the server has towards characters that aren't gritty and edgy like what would be the norm for most characters. To put it into a bit more detail I'm talking about the kind of character who once you finish talking to them you un-mute Teamspeak and say something along the lines of, "I just met the funniest guy in Stary." or, "This guy I just talked to in Kab is hilarious." If done right this kind of character can be the highlight of someone's day and provide a slightly more lighthearted RP experience than the usual. Of course, for a lot of people this style of RP just isn't fun to them, and there's nothing wrong with that. Everyone needs to find their niche if they want to have their best time. Besides this, frankly the server would be pretty stale/annoying if everyone decided that they wanted to play a psycho joker-esque character. We've seen what happens when too many people try to become wacky, crazy individuals in the wake of the Masquerade's peak popularity. Things get weird and altogether not very fun. The world is a diverse place and as such there should be diverse people. 2. Where do I start? (What Kind of Characters to Play and how to Decide) Unfortunately there is no simple answer to the question of, "Who/what should my character be?" Everybody has very different styles of rp, different accents that they can do or enjoy doing, and different people that they play with. My best advice in figuring out who you want your character to be is to experiment with very different characters. Maybe for a month or so you decide you want to play a Canadian Lumberjack who loves to party, but realize you find the character boring. In this case what you should go about doing is thinking up a very different kind of character e.g a Japanese Manga Mogul. Experiment until you find a character archetype you love to play. 1. If you really can't decide, (you've experimented, seen other people in game, etc.) try joining a group who is way out of your norm. The best way to get better at RP is to do things you aren't comfortable with. Once you get good at RPing all styles, then possibilities are endless. Often times the best way to get better is playing with people that are already good at something and learning from them, because they have already figured out the nuances of their style. It's important to keep trying new things even when you've been in the community for a while. If you're a hero try playing with a group of bandits, if you're a bandit try playing with hero's, if you're always Chernarussian try playing a German. There are so many possibilities in this game and this community that it's very hard to pinpoint what you might enjoy the most. 3. I'm Not Stupid, I know How I Like to RP. How do I go About Making The Character? (Character Page Conduct) Alright, good we're getting closer to improving the atmosphere of the server. This section will touch on both general good practices of creating a character as well as specifics of making a weird character. 1. The most simple but yet often times most underpracticed thing to do when making a new character of any type is to come up with weird quirks or features of the character. Not only do these kinds of things make the character seem more human, but they also provide conversation pieces in game. 2. Put some detail and thought into the backstory. When you're roleplaying you shouldn't struggle to come up with replies to basic questions like "What happened to your family?" or "Whats your favorite hobby?" (Unless of course part of your character is being forgetful). The more time you put into your characters story and the better you understand the character then the better you will be able to play it. 3. It's important to have experience in roleplay when you're playing a weird character because you will often times find your self in situations where you have to be on your toes. People tend to ask you a lot of questions about a lot of things, whether it be because they don't like you and want to slip you up / make you nervous, or they like you a lot and are genuinely curious about who you are and what you're doing. Now on to what you should keep in mind when making specifically a funny, or weird character. 1. Your character needs to have something weird or off about them. This can be anywhere in the range of an extreme dissociative disorder, to someone who has a drug dependence, to something less serious like they enjoy selling figurines and action figures. What kind of weird quirk you decide to associate with your character is completely up to you and should fit your characters background. 2. When deciding what you want to be odd about your character don't just be like "I'm gonna make a character who's mentally challenged so I can get in game and be like 'Oh hello, I am mentally challenged *Makes fart noises*' ". Yes, there is actual effort required to having these quirks, and no it doesn't just come down to literally announcing there is something wrong with you and then trying to imitate a stereotype. It's important to focus on your chosen trait, and always keep it in mind in RP, but it's a cop-out to use it as crutch. What I mean by using it as a crutch is the example I used above. If you decide "Hey I want to make a character who is high on adderall all the time" then don't just run in a church in the middle of someones holdup yelling "WEWWW I'M HIGH SO WHAT I'M DOING ISN'T OBNOXIOUS , IMMERSION BREAKING, AND STUPID, AND YOU HAVE TO ACCEPT IT." It's things like that that will make people dislike you, and the style of RP. Instead, if you're in the area, and you decide that it makes sense for your character to intervene in some way try poking your head in the door, darting your head around, talking really fast, and moving around. Get a feel for how the people around you are responding and then either get out of there if it's not working, or start to pour on the act a bit more, and do the weird stupid stuff if they show they think you're funny or don't have an issue with you being there. If you want help with doing a "crazy character" or one who's drug addicted then please take the time to read @Kerkkoh's guide on Opioid Addiction and @Nocheluz's guide on "Crazy" characters. Also a good example of an extremely weird character that both meets and greatly exceeds these criteria is @Dio Brando's character Lucas Karter 4. Alright I've Made my Character, Now What? (In-Game Behavior.) Unfortunately many people who decide to go this route simply do it for the keks, and have no regard for the roleplay going on around them. It is when someone does this that it falls into the "trolly" category. When you make the decision to play a character of this ilk you are making the decision to ride a fine line of funny/interesting and annoying/intrusive. 1. One thing you have to get a feel for is the way the people around you are responding to how you act. If you walk into an area with many people and you're being loud and annoying and people are laughing about it and playing along then you should feel encouraged to continue with the RP, however if a similar situation occurs, but everyone is acting awkward or straight up telling you to stop then you should do so. Do not in any situation break character, but either dial down what you're doing, or simply figure out an excuse to remove yourself from the situation. 2. Like mentioned previously in the guide, unfortunately there isn't just an easy way to be funny, or make people like you, but when you make a character you have to stick to your guns. Often times it really doesn't take too long for you to realize how people act around your character, and how much enjoyment you and the people you talk to are getting. It's weird to think about it, but really playing funny characters should be done with the fun of the community in mind just as much if not more-so than your own. Maybe you have a character who you think is funny, and you get a good laugh out of it, and you like their story, but everyone around you finds them annoying and obnoxious so they start getting hostile. If this happens you have to know when to move on. 3. The best way to successfully play your character is to make situations where your characters weirdness makes sense. If you "bait" other people into bringing up something which you would usually have to bring up yourself, not only do you avoid becoming a nuisance, but in turn by doing so you have opened the floor to whatever you want to do. Think of it like an initiation. If you walk up to someone and just initiate on them for no reason you can maybe justify taking some of their stuff or whatever, but you can't torture them, or execute them which is the fun parts of initiations, however if someone is being hostile towards you, or being an asshole, etc. and you initiate then you have a valid reason to mess them up. In a way its the same with playing a weird character. If you trick the other person into setting the stage you have way more freedom with how you proceed. 4. Think about what you're going to do and how you want an interaction to go before it begins. If you have a plan for the beginning of an interaction it will help you set up your character, put you in a situation to be funnier, and allow you to bring the RP deeper than the all too common "Hi i'm john, I'm going to stary" "Oh, I'm Dylan I'm going to Kab." "Okay, bye". This is a trick which will be very useful not only when trying to play a funny character, but really any character in general. I'm going to list some situations and try to give you a feel for how to deal with them. Do's and Don'ts You are very hungry and need to eat something, someone gives you a can of beans; you are an ardent vegan. Don't: Scream, "I'm vegan, asshole, I'm not eating these because I'm vegan, oh by the way did I mention I'm vegan Do: Thank the person for the beans, eat them and then after read the ingredients and start emoting throwing up, or have an emotional breakdown. Obviously reading this it may seem obvious which one is funnier, or makes more sense, but you'll find so many people would choose to do the first one because it's easier, and feels obvious. The second situation however will lead to more RP as the person will ASK you what is wrong, and you can explain, putting the burden of the situation on them and making it their "fault" if you choose to monologue on ethics of eating animals or something like that. While walking down the street you see a couple who are trying to have a picnic in the grass; you are a nihilist who suffers from bipolar disorder. Don't: sprint right up to them, and start yelling "You're stupid idiots why are you trying to be happy fuck you, you suck." and run away. Do: Walk up to them, or by them and wait for them to talk to you. RP as normal until they mention what they're doing, and then you begin your "attack". At this point you could break down crying and talk about how it's "Not worth it", or get angry at them for being naive, idiots. On paper these things seem simple, right? "Clearly the second one is better, do you think I'm stupid?", but once again people tend to end up doing the easy cop-out version of RP which allows them to get in a quick laugh, and end the interaction as soon as possible. It's very important to actively avoid doing this. 5. Outro Thanks for taking the time to read the guide and I hope that you find it helpful in your journey. If you have any questions feel free to post them in the comments and I'll do my best to make additions and revisions to the guide.

Number Station E98 was originally founded in 1980 in South Zagoria as one of several CIA Number Stations around the globe. Messages sent through this station were heavily encrypted with only one person knowing the decryption for it. Messages would come in, and would get relayed to a set Station elsewhere in the world. While there were a large number of Operatives in South Zagoria for The Station, only three worked at a time, the speaker and two guards. The rest of the team were security, and there only in the case of an emergency. Included in the team are members of Joint Agencies, Special Forces groups, Intelligence groups, and Medical Personnel. Staff is circulated every ten years, and the current team had been working for seven. All workers have back stories and seem to live normal lives in the country. If any employee is to give away the location of The Station or betray the staff in any way, it is said they would be hunted and killed. At the start of the Civil War, E98 stopped receiving messages for weeks at a time, the workers began to worry the war had made their government had abandoned them. One day a message came in telling them to keep working. And so they did, as a message came in, it was transmitted to other stations. When the war ended, everything went back to normal, messages being received and sent every day. Life for the workers was average to the outside eye. Some of them took jobs rebuilding cities, others worked at the docks loading and unloading containers while some stayed home all day. Late April, 2017. A wedding was attacked by extremists, leading to riots, and ultimately Martial Law in just a few days. People began leaving the country, going to more “safe” areas, but the Workers couldn’t leave. Instead, they had to continue living their lives as normal as they could in the midst of all this chaos. Checkpoints were set up, people had been moved out of their homes, Protocol 1 was to be set in place. The Speaker and two Guards were to get to the Station and stay there until the chaos calmed down while the rest of the Workers surveyed the events which seemed to be getting more worrying. Northern towns began getting attacked by local Soldiers said to be acting “rabid”, many were said to be severely burned, but somehow still walking. Eventually more attacks occurred, more people began acting aggressive and unresponsive to demands. The Team reported all of this to the station, and messages were then sent with this information. Bombs continued to go off, jets flew over the country, attacks continued, and chaos seemed to develop more and more each day. Following the outbreak, The Station stopped receiving messages for the second time. Assuming they would continue someday, the Team continued collecting information regarding the attacks, the infected, and the events going on in general. Every two days, a message would be sent with all of the information gathered. Food and water had begun to run low. Some members began making supply runs to grocery stores, houses, wherever they could find to get more food and water. At this point every member is carrying a weapon. The goal now is to continue to gather information and transmit it. In Character: Continue to collect information about the environment of the infection Gather information about the survivors and how they react to groups as well as the infected Keep the location of The Station a secret Keep the fact of The Station being ran by the CIA a secret Out of Character: Provide good, non-cringey roleplay Don't walk around saying "I'm CIA" Progress the Server Lore as well as the group and individuals lore Welcome new members of the community into the group Relations: Allies Neutral Enemies Command: Agent in Charge - Elijah Hensley, Rainey Assistant Agent in Charge - Michael Whyte, Aaron Rainey Intelligence: Intelligence Agent - Brandon Terrano, Ronin47 Intelligence Agent - Roy Cross, Username Agents: Field Agent - Vincent Braddok, Dubstep212 Field Agent - Kaine Smith, tyblackwa Field Agent - Jimmie Baker, Sergeant Mexico Probationary Agents: Field Agent - John Guzman, casavillam Send the following application and contract to the Agent in Charge: Name: Age & Birthday: Why do you want to join this group?: Prior groups & experience: Are you willing to make a new character for the group, if needed? Warning: Please understand you are free to leave the group at any time you so desire without any repercussion, however if it is found that you betrayed the group, or revealed any sensitive information, the above contract may be used.

3 million sales, $90 million, and these guys can't finish a game in double the average time a development cycle lasts. Then when they delay a status report and act like it's a big deal they don't even have any images or videos, just the biweekly wall of text.

Hey Jackstral! While I have never personally played a older character, I can say I have met some people who have! Most usually use their vocabulary and tone/sound of their voice to convey they may be older than they actually are IRL. Also, emotes sure help a long way. To play a older character you probably want to have a lot of history and details worked out, specially the Era in which your character was born! Life changing events like marriage, deaths and children also should be a factor to consider when talking about yourself as your character! Your character may have the wisdom to make choices and stick by them determined by the life they have lived! They may also be set in their ways, not really ones to budge or open to change. I mean, why would they? Since they've lived through most conceivable situations by now! (Baring the recent infection of course). A older character would be self assured and confident to a degree but not necessarily boastful. They have been shaped and molded by the events of their lives and as such are familiar with who they are and how they interact with others. They more than likely do not feel a need to prove themselves, as with age they have come to learn they don't care as much about such things. They also know that not everything is achievable, most younger people believe if they try hard enough they can obtain anything! Older people/characters may not have found that to be true during their life times. Also, things may not surprise or scare them as much as they would a younger person. How much of a zombie infection may play into that is up to you! Secondly, your physical condition should also be a factor. A 60 year old man wandering the wastes will not be a spry and as 16 year old kid, right? Think about what has happened to your character and how those events physically affect them now. Were they in a war? Did they get injured? Have they ever been in a bar fight and now sport a nasty limp from being tossed of a bridge by a drunkard? I mean, all sorts of cool things you can add! I find a good motto to keep in mind is; Show. Don't tell. Which is where emotes come in! This also opens the door for others to be able to RP with what you emote. In essence; think back to how old people seem to operate. They're slower, methodical, and less reactionary (typically). They have a lot of wisdom and a lot of insight depending on the life they have lived. I would pick out some fav. movie or comic/book older characters like Clint Eastwood or Gandalf (lol) and see if you can pull traits from how they act as a person and incorporate that into your own character. I'm sorry this turned into a bit of a ramble on my part, but I hope you're able to gather something useful from my long winded blabbering! Let us know if you need any further help! Also, like Galaxy mentioned the Mentor Program is a great asset to wanting to improve on your RP. And it's Freeeeeee!

Link to the source of punishment: Hidden status update. Why the verdict is not fair: I was given five points because apparently, as Method said in the warning, the staff team deemed my response as flaming because apparently I was deliberately disrespecting another community member. However, at the time of the reply to the status update, I was sitting in a channel on Teamspeak with @Santa as well as many others. Considering we're all really good friends, we were having a laugh. I've never received points in the past & I don't intend to, either. I wouldn't deliberately go out of my way to flame someone, especially someone who I've considered a friend for quite some time. Again, @Method states in the warning message that I'm deliberately flaming another community member. First of all, it would be hard to know what actions I do deliberately without taking into consideration the context. As I stated above, I was sitting in a channel with Shadows & having a laugh with him. It's pretty well known that status updates are far more relaxed compared to proper threads on the forums. I did not deliberately do anything and I believe that this was a poor assumption from @Method and the reviewing party's side. I would understand if Shadows had reported the post himself, but if you had perhaps took a tiny dip into Shadow and I's forum activity between us, you would notice that we're friends and have memed with one another in the past. Looking at the post alone might seem flamey, but you see that with most of the updates which are posted. I'm not sure if staff are aware, but context is key. When I spoke to Skinner briefly on Teamspeak a few days ago, apparently context does not play a big role when it comes to points, but I disagree entirely. I've seen members of the community calling each other gays, idiots, cunts etc and it appears like flaming to start with, but you'd soon realize that they're friends. Additional statements/comments explaining your point of view: I was joking around with a good friend of mine. Shadows, or Santa Claus, then tagged Brady as a joke saying we were abusing the status update which referenced an earlier situation. He wasn't at any point being serious about it and wasn't intending to have us receive points. What would you like to achieve with this appeal: I'd like to have my points removed. What could you have done better?: Made it more clear that I was joking, I guess.

Alright, let me step in as a co owner of the community. I have been around for some time now and I have honestly never seen any sort of pedophilia going around on an OOC basis. ICly, any person who commits it and of course is reported gets dealt with pretty quickly. However, we do not have access to people's steam chats, discords, private conversations or whatsoever at all times and we can't punish things that are done outside DayZRP, we are not Interpol or internet police in general. We can't act based off of rumors. If there's evidence involved which you so strongly appear to insist on in this post then go ahead and forward it. I honestly don't know why it hasn't been reported by anyone already if what you're saying is true and I do think it's not appropriate, at all. The context of your feedback and replies however play with really thin barriers that vary from country to country when it comes to actual laws. However I and neither anyone else I've talked to has witnessed any sort of "mass circulation" of such photos, so like Rolle said, if you have evidence or if anyone else has any sort of evidence, feel free to forward it.

For those of us trying to survive the apocalypse without official group affiliations, dynamic groups are often our salvation and occasionally our downfall. They are also a very natural and, well, dynamic form of role play that can lead to lasting IC and OOC connections including official group status.
