Small Rant: One thing i hate about the staff team. . . Lack of transparency due to ToS There are a lot of times where we have been ridiculed \ judged for the things we have done because in the eyes of the community there was no reason to do these things. Of course we don't just point because "fuck it were bored" or because we need "dat dank activity". But why the fuck would the community think other wise? all they see are point hungry war mongers that will smile and laugh with you one minute and perma-ban you off the forums at the next. The shitty part is, we cant really speak up about it, we cant give the full story, we cant let people know at most times why we do what we do, simply because of ToS. because we are the staff team. often than not when this topic is brought up in staff the usual response is "we know what we did was right, if they cant see it well to bad" But that's not how it should be, that's the very mindset that divides the community from staff. Makes them feel like they cant trust us and that they should be scared around us because they don't want to say the wrong thing, or when they see us join their channel or even join TeamSpeak all together. I've heard it time and time again. The very reason being is because we are not here to publicly out someone for something they have done. Were not here to air out everyone's dirty laundry to the entire community when they fuck up, and thats completely understandable as well. however, so many times would a simple discussion or a thread about what actually happened fix so many problems. I only wish I could speak up a bit more than I can. and I know what your thinking 'You're an admin arn't you the ones that are able to change that?" You're totally right on some points, yet this is set in stone in the ToS the only one that would really be able to change it without the entire admin team going pure anarchy and doing it anyway would be Rolle. I only hope that at some point the ToS will loosen up and we will be able to be more transparent. I know i'll be fighting for that. To end this rant on: I full heatedly believe that if we were more transparent with the community if we were able to speak up and defend ourselves for our actions, March 1st, 2017 would have never happened. anyway there's my late night 4:00AM rant for yall. Gnight everyone <3

I would also like to point out in @TommyGun_ video @Taryn is heard meta gaming the entire time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=180&v=v4UOCByQiDo She can clearly be heard giving away our positions in team speak to her friends without saying anything in game while she was standing next to @Boston and @Coreena and all of the hostages. And if you go to @MatthewFC video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ye7LnV60mU you can see @Taryn standing next to all of us. And just in case you can't see her in @MatthewFC video. I would like to also state that @Taryn showed up around 15-20 minutes prior to the beginning of @TommyGun_ video and she said very little during her time standing there which gives me the idea that she was metagaming even more. Got bored so I compiled all of the new character models (Don't think I missed any, but I could have.) from the most recent 0.63 gameplay demo. New Asian male that doesn't look 12 and 1/2 years old like the current one Unsure of what race this one's meant to be This one looks very similair to another one further down, but im unsure if its different or not so im just gonna leave it here to be safe. New disgruntled Russian uncle New...Actually i'm not positive what race this guy's supposed to be New Indian/Middle Eastern male skin New Caucasian male skin, kind of resembles Brian Hicks New African American male, looks like big smoke. New Caucasian male, looks somewhat like a redux of the current one Semi New looking Indian male, but I think this is a redux of the existing one New African American male New Asian male with bowl cut New Asian male with "Mildly disappointed" look Jessie from Toy Story Bonus - Redone female character model body on the left (Also, new Asian female)

Hope to build on your arrival soon <3 @Malet I got your back brother, til you become a danger -.- Great RP from you today, I'm glad our little convo happened @RogueSolace last but by no means least interaction of the day, enjoyable conversation between my character and yours, thought provoking contents and somewhat personal moments shared. The most "paranormal" thing to have happened to me is this one time in the middle of the night, I was woken up because I felt my bed sheet flutter a little bit. So I leaned down to take a look and then realized it was just me farting because of how bad it smelled. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Since I have a good few years of experience with developing for Arma 3 communities and advising countless community owners, I think I should put my ”professional” opinion here. I first started with what is now considered a controversial mod in Arma 3 which was Arma 3 Life. It was the most popular thing on Arma 3 right before its release to the testing phase because of the hype around it. The hype was mostly because of fancy objects and systems shown on videos that actually weren’t as ready to be released as they seemed. This was a problem for the development team that consisted of 3 scripters and only one of them being capable of actually creating the at the time groundbreaking systems and scripts. It didn’t help that the development was a mess without good communication and the project lead didn’t listen to other developers for feedback. So, in conclusion, we had huge pressure from a huge audience and a messy development team and we also had a set release date - and nothing but small bits and pieces to release. I myself said we should push the release date back and start working on a solid framework that puts together our pieces of systems. The others had something (IMO worse) in mind: let’s use something that is available to us but that won’t be anything new, good nor something we can build a good mod on (It was also a very grey zone in terms of who can use the framework they ended up using). This eventually ended up with the project lead asking 30$ of money from every player for something that was 110% half-arsed and I think we all know the outcome and downfall that ensued a bit after resulting in countless new modifications ripping off the semi-original assets and unoriginal slightly modified framework. (Note: I did eventually distance myself from this as I think it was unethical) Do you see where I’m going with this already? It’s been a while now that I’ve realized that this is essentially what happened with DayZ as well. Maybe not exactly but if you read between the lines well enough, you’ll see it. (Eugen - I think it was posted on twitter by the community manager Baty) They had a (relatively) small development team and a huge pressure so they ran with the option of building on top of what they knew was already available to them (Real Virtuality / Arma 2.5 / Arma Legacy). This was a bad choice in the long run because they sooner or later realized that their goals were unrealistic for the expectations that were set for them by Dean or whoever was leading the team at that point. It’s like you build a house on a rotten foundation and hope that everything will somehow stick together. Then Dean left and the team was left with a huge project on a shit foundation and they eventually had to make the choice to prioritize the development of a new foundation (Enfusion). Now we are in a situation in which I would have been comfortable in if this was the case for the Arma 3 Life mod. They have a solid foundation fairly ready and they can begin to put together the house with the walls and doors that are already planned and somewhat ready. This also means they can let people start modding because the final foundation of the game is done so mods don’t have to be constantly updated as the foundation is updated. Obviously, it is apparent that there is a decrease in players but the reality is that the development team should have been smart and not even release the game back when they did. They should have released it into early access now that they have something to work with. I’m not saying the number of active players will increase, but who knows. I would end this long ass post here but I’d like to address the idea of moving to Arma 3 since people have eagerly suggested it. As I prefaced, I’ve then after my endeavours with the ultimately failed project, (on my part, not so much on the project leads who cash grabbed around $300,000 according to the wildest estimations) had some dealings with other communities one of which was a project I contributed a year of my time, scripting and map making to (NerdsRPG) and after a year everything fell apart even though we had a solid base audience. Another one I wasn’t involved with so heavily but did follow up on from time to time because we were negotiating on and off about me working for them but that didn’t work out. Just a while back they closed their Arma 3 servers for the last time. When DayZRP opened its new Desolation just a short while ago, I offered my help with the scripting as I do have some experience but even before I could start the work the project was discontinued. The common trend here is that Arma 3 mods/servers/communities do not exactly survive long. Especially in the last few months, I’ve seen many Arma 3 communities run empty servers most of the time because the player base has moved to GTA V roleplaying (which is superb when done well btw) and new titles like PUBG. Don’t get me wrong, I love Arma 3 and I actually still develop my open source project for it on GitHub with a few other developers but I would HIGHLY advise against moving over to Arma 3 right now and especially because soon we will be able to work with a functional base for our beloved game. If Rolle decides to move to the Arma 3 direction though, I’d be willing to help out and pitch some new ideas. If you actually read through this, props to you. If not, TLDR: I can relate to DayZ development team because of my history and I suggest we stick to DayZ.

All Hallows Eve is coming so and the Question is Does anyone believe in the paranormal or have any real paranormal or unexplained stories or just what are your plans for Devil's night The only one I have that comes to mind is when I was about sixteen I was looking after my cousin who was five at the time and she was playing in the living room with her toys she ask if she could have I drink so I went to get her one within seconds she ran into the kitchen crying and point to the living room saying go away so I went to see what was wrong thinking it was a bug of some sort I told her there was nothing there but she said the old lady has gone now I ask if she could tell me what she looked like and she told me so i went and found and photo book and picked out a photo of a group of family member five in the group when I showed her the pic she pointed at one and said that was her the person she pick out was my great grandma who died seven years before she was born and she never knew her or see a pic of her before that day.

Samhain (pronounced /ˈsɑːwɪn/ SAH-win or /ˈsaʊ.ɪn/ SOW-in, Irish pronunciation: [sˠəuɪnʲ]) is a Gaelic festival marking the end of the harvest season and the beginning of winter or the "darker half" of the year. Traditionally, it is celebrated from 31 October to 1 November, as the Celtic day began and ended at sunset. This is about halfway between the autumn equinox and the winter solstice. It is one of the four Gaelic seasonal festivals, along with Imbolc, Bealtaine and Lughnasadh. Historically, it was widely observed throughout Ireland, Scotland and the Isle of Man. Similar festivals are held at the same time of year in other Celtic lands; for example the Brythonic Calan Gaeaf (in Wales), Kalan Gwav (in Cornwall), and Kalan Goañv (in Brittany). Samhain is believed to have Celtic pagan origins and there is evidence it has been an important date since ancient times. The Mound of the Hostages, a Neolithicpassage tomb at the Hill of Tara built between 3350 and 2800 BCE[1], is aligned with the Samhain sunrise.[2] It is mentioned in some of the earliest Irish literatureand many important events in Irish mythology happen or begin on Samhain. It was the time when cattle were brought back down from the summer pastures and when livestock were slaughtered for the winter. As at Bealtaine, special bonfires were lit. These were deemed to have protective and cleansing powers and there were rituals involving them.[3] Like Bealtaine, Samhain was seen as a liminal time, when the boundary between this world and the Otherworld could more easily be crossed. This meant the Aos Sí, the 'spirits' or 'fairies', could more easily come into our world. Most scholars see the Aos Sí as remnants of the pagan gods and nature spirits. At Samhain, it was believed that the Aos Sí needed to be propitiated to ensure that the people and their livestock survived the winter. Offerings of food and drink were left outside for them. The souls of the dead were also thought to revisit their homes seeking hospitality. Feasts were had, at which the souls of dead kin were beckoned to attend and a place set at the table for them. Mumming and guising were part of the festival, and involved people going door-to-door in costume (or in disguise), often reciting verses in exchange for food. The costumes may have been a way of imitating, and disguising oneself from, the Aos Sí. Divination rituals and games were also a big part of the festival and often involved nuts and apples. In the late 19th century, Sir John Rhys and Sir James Frazersuggested that it was the "Celtic New Year", and this view has been repeated by some other scholars.[4] In the 9th century AD, Western Christianity shifted the date of All Saints' Day to 1 November, while 2 November later became All Souls' Day. Over time, Samhain and All Saints'/All Souls' merged to create the modern Halloween.[5] Historians have used the name 'Samhain' to refer to Gaelic 'Halloween' customs up until the 19th century.[6] Since the later 20th century, Celtic neopagans and Wiccans have observed Samhain, or something based on it, as a religious holiday.[7] Neopagans in the Southern Hemisphere often celebrate Samhain at the other end of the year (about 1 May).

Bradley Mason POV: Same situation as above, the Bounty Hunters were apporached by @Taryn, where we got intel of the mass hostage situation in Severograd, and we made our way down. In Severograd, we layed low for a bit, waiting for the time to strike, upon our men atop the hospital being compromised, we initiated, I quickly got my rifle trained on the only hostile in sight, where they tried to fall back bejind cover, I fired upon them. I had taken a shot, and fell back to cover, I got confirm that it was safe to emerge from cover so I did, approching the target I shot moments before, where they were laying on the ground, I belive pretending to be dead on knocked out, and I see they still have a gun out, so I double tapped, and finished them off. The Bounty Hunters and @Taryn then told all hostages to flee, telling them to meet at Devil's castle, where I had made my way to before making sure to capture this all on video. END POV Video:

I'll be the first to admit DayZ is a heap of trash, it has been since it was released. The only reason I play DayZ is for the RP. Arma 3 would be the best choice to go to but its been tried here before and like all the other side projects it eventually died. If the community was to fully go over to Arma 3 we would have to take a good look at why it failed in the past like with Desolation.

Three perfect examples of what I said in my previous post about how you cannot take any feedback and automatically dismiss it as salt or basically tell people to fuck off. Group threads are for all kind of feedback, not only for your role play in game but also group idea, story, goals and characters involved. So perhaps for you it's only ingame feedback matters, but every single member of this community has a right to post on a group thread if they have concerns about it and their feedback should be respected. That's how feedback works, you don't get to pick and choose what kind of feedback you receive. Just like any of you can go to my staff feedback thread and leave feedback, without having to get to know me as a person.

I think you guys have a very good chance of doing a great job with this group and wish you the best, and I can see that's an opinion most people share in this thread and that's great. There's only one issue I wanted to point at: In this post at their follow-ups, this person gave valid criticism while making a big effort to make it patently obvious that he wasn't salting all over anyone with it, but genuinely trying to give everyone involved a chance to improve over it. This is good feedback that should not be ignored or brushed aside, but when you read the following posts one cannot help but fear that's kinda what happened: Now, this is just an example and I'm not trying to single out anyone, and I'm sure there are details that, by not being on that TS conversation, I'm missing out, but you as a group are not giving out the appearance of having actually addressed the users concerns. To an uninvolved party like me, this just sounds like ''we took the guy into a TS room, explained him that he was wrong and not us, and moved along''. It just looks bad. With this, I just want to point out: Addressing feedback in the group thread doesn't always have to mean "clutter", and sometimes it's for your own benefit. The group thread is the best place to leave feedback and (most) people are not trying to make you look bad when they leave you some... if and when they do it's far more obvious, and it makes them look bad, not you. I hope you change your stance at criticism, and really hope to see you ingame sometime soon.

Exactly, this is my only issue with this group. This group is a perfectly good concept for genuine hostile RP driven by interactions, ruined by the fact that it seems to be just another attempt by the same individuals at creating a group that by default can attack anyone at anytime simply because they are X. This is a repeating theme too. Now feedback is posted in the thread and several people automatically dismiss it as salt, it's a mindset like "how dare they not enjoy our hostile roleplay that we started for no reason at all and forced upon them"? If you're gonna do hostile RP you must have a good reason for it. Valid IC reasoning is required by the rules for all hostile actions - rule 6.1. There is no list of allowed or disallowed reasons - there are far too many different possible situations that can happen in game so we keep it open to not restrict role play. We trust you the players to use common sense and fair judgement of the situation and decide whether something justifies killing another human being or disarming them/taking them hostage and that works in large majority of cases. Cookie cutter reasons like "we rob them because our group is X and we believe in Y while they believe in Z" will not be accepted and groups with goals like that should not be approved. It's basically a way to go around rule 6.1 requirements and we have previously said in one of the announcements (can't find the post now) that this rule will be enforced more strictly after the lore wipe. If you can pull this group idea and do it well - great, finally we can have an original hostile group that plays fair, doesn't force their hostility upon other players for no reason and lets in game interactions steer whether the hostilities are needed or not. But don't do it like, you all log in, go to a known populated settlement or area and get hostile/initiate on it simply because you are a group X, even though you have never met these people or they haven't wronged you in any way. I haven't read anything too smart from you in a while either tbh. Maybe because all I see is banter in your group thread and you boys patting each other on the back with memes in status updates.

It's been a long time since I've written a story of any kind, so this is me trying to get back into it. Any and all feedback is appreciated. I apologize in advance for the dark nature of this writing. A little something for you to listen to while reading, just some . Not suitable for sensitive readers. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ A match is lit, briefly illuminating a harrowed face attached to a darkened figure amidst a copse of trees beyond a dead cities border in the middle of the night. Not with a bang, but a whimper. Those were the words that were burned into Dan's mind with an invisible brand by a long dead man. Elliot was right, more right than he knew when he wrote those words a good ninety years ago. He exhales, letting a cloud of smoke drift upwards and outwards from him. The sickly thin looking cigarette in his mouth doesn't look like it will last long. There were no large scale military offensives, no bombs dropped, no major resurgence of mankind's hope, it's almost as though those who survived thus far had adapted too well and too quickly to this new situation they found themselves in. The man smokes the cigarette right down to the butt then crouches and buries it in the dirt below him. He remains sat upon his haunches looking down at the dim city. Large city, this one, not the largest but doubtless thousands of people lived here. He'd seen other people come and go, scavenging and looting like vultures at a corpse. Can't blame them, he's just as guilty; probably more so. Besides the knife in his boot and the magnum strapped to his thigh, nothing on his person belonged to him. The darkened figure stands and takes a few paces back into the tree line, stopping at a prone body. Upon closer inspection, the person is asleep rather than dead. She is pretty, nice eyes and a better arse. Said her name was Jenny, she lied, but it doesn't really matter. Her cheek is warm against the back of his hand, skin still smooth and soft, a shame. Quite the sense of humor too, for a yank, not too dry but dry enough. Around her neck hangs a golden chain with a small cross nestled just above her breastbone; the only piece of jewelry besides her wedding ring. None of these things were of any interest to the man standing over her, beauty of face or value of gold, both worthless now. The figure lowers himself down to his haunches once more, now leering over the sleeping woman as they are both cast in darkness. She sleeps soundly, too soundly. Such is the benefit of an untroubled mind, she couldn't bring herself to pull the trigger on one of the infected, let alone a living person. Weakness is the greatest sin, at least in his eyes, and she was rife with it. He felt anger boil up inside him, his left hand clenched into a fist. Though he sat and waited for the feeling to pass, anger should not dictate his actions. The male reaches forward to press his palm over the female's mouth, his thumb and index finger trap her nose shut while his spare hand steadies her body to the floor, a stillness descends over the pair briefly. Strange how the body takes a bit of time to understand that it is dying, these moments seemed like hours to the man suffocating the sleeping woman. But as those moments came to a close her body jerked, one of her hands came shooting up to grab at his wrist and her eyes flickered open. Perfect pools of crystal blue staring up at him, first in confusion then, soon enough, in horror. There was struggling but very little sound, the woman kicked and flailed but it was all in vain, this would have been obvious to an onlooker. He did not speak to her in the final moments, not as she tried to speak through the pressure of his hand, not as she clawed at his arm and stared at him with her big, pleading eyes. Her eyelids begin to flutter, her limbs grow weak. People are right when they say you can feel the life slip out of someone, but it is not a euphoric feeling, the man did not get any pleasure out of this, but nor did it cause him any pain. The struggling stops and it is over. Not with a bang but a whimper. He does not notice her arm fall to the floor or her head drop to the side, instead he sits with his hand over her mouth for ten, fifteen minutes of dead silence. Steady hands rifle through her pockets, her possessions, he finds nothing. The wedding ring on her finger is removed and stuffed into his pocket hurriedly, then without a word he is gone. Her eyes are still open, staring up at the black sky through a haze of trees. She does not look scared, sad, or even peaceful, but hollow, as hollow as the man walking away from her lifeless body.
