This guide is for those who wish to learn how to text rp, and how to get better at text roleplay. I have seen a lot of posts saying that text rp isn’t as good as voip rp. Which, isn’t true at all. They are both good in their own ways. With this guide I hope to show that text roleplay, is still a legitimate form of rp. It shouldn’t be ignored, and can be very fun. Some of you might be very surprised to hear that roleplaying didn’t start out as VOIP, it all began in a chat room. In fact it was before than even, when people began to fall in love with stories like Lord of the Rings and other books that enchanted many of us. Enough to want to be part of that world, to just disappear for a while and just get lost in this mythical world of our own mind. I would like to think that roleplaying began with tabletop games, such as D&D and Pathfinder. Along with LARP, where people actually went out into the real world pretending and fighting with foam swords. It might seem silly to think of, people LARPing and some still think D&D is too nerdy. But from there it stemmed online, to the internet and thus began text roleplay. Starting in chat rooms, like AOL and probably other chat rooms sprung into it as well. As far back as I can remember, using asterisks was the normal. The more you could type, and the faster. The better roleplayer you were. It wasn’t about VOIP, it was the detail and immersing yourself in a character you created and loved. Finding people who enjoyed the same thing as you. From the small chat rooms of AOL, it grew into something bigger where it came to forums which is where I actually started my roleplay experience. Forum roleplaying started off much like chat rooms, with asterisks and small text it seem now. Though, just as everything does it molded itself into something else. Some still use the old chat rooms with asterisks, and that is ok. But many moved onto bigger things. Creating paragraphs of writing stories together, and making new stories. I don't want to spend so much time on this, but from there it expanded to video games. The first type of games to accept roleplaying, were MMO’s such as the beloved World of Warcraft became well known for it. Until it is what we know it today as, in Dayz and many other games we love. There are many ways to pull off text role-playing and in this section, I will cover the dos of text roleplaying. Things to try, and things to improve on. If you think I can add more to this list, please message me. Short & Sweet When it comes to text roleplay with Dayz, everything is fast pace it seems. Meaning if you want to roleplay you will need to find a good medium between short but sweet. You don't want it to be too short, or people aren’t going to pay attention to you. Yet, you don't want to have so long that takes you 5 minutes to post a reply. It might take you a while to get the hang of it, but it's worth it really. I will give an example of short and sweet. “Hey, who are you and what are you doing here. It's not a safe place.” This is a decent short but sweet post, and it can work with both speaking and emoting, emoting I will cover in the next section. Emoting Emoting is one of the strongest weapons you have over someone who uses VOIP. They might be able to respond faster than you, but emoting can make and break roleplay sometimes. Even as a VOIP rper, adding emoting to your rp can strengthen your roleplay. It's used in different instances, like torture roleplay. I will give an example. Remember short and sweet, also applies well here. *She smiles wickedly as she trails the knife down his cheek and down to his neck.* This is a good example of how to emote, you need to make sure you have asterisks on the ends. You can use different kinds of asterisks as shown here. (*,-,#,~,) There is a way to VOIP and type at the same time! Just double tap your push to talk key, and it will hot mic, so it will let you speak and type at the same time. Very useful for Medical RP, and others as well. In Depth In-depth, roleplay can be fun as well, and by this, I mean progressing your character more and in detail. This is the only Do, that doesn’t follow the short and sweet one. This is for when say you are settling down around a fire and everyone is roleplaying around you. Perfect time to post bigger chunks of texting. Give people something to look at, as they are rping. Emote more, and speak to people as if you were around a fire. Even with no one around, it adds to the rp still to do things people don't expect. I'll give an example. -She looks into the flames of the fire, using a random stick to gently probe the burning wood.- I miss camping, it used to be so much fun. Now it just seems that we are always camping you know.. Keep in mind there is a text cap, so if you run out of the room don't be afraid to push enter and continue into another post. Still, try and keep it a bit short, but have fun with it. Speed (wpm) Text rp is a hard form of roleplay on a fast-paced server, meaning you will at some point need to type fast and while running. At first, it will be difficult to do this, but with practice, you will get faster and better. Yet when doing so, don't sacrifice good text roleplay for fast one-word text. There are plenty of sites out there, that can help you improve. I’ll list one but just look around for the best site for you. Don’t be discouraged if you are not the best, you will get there. https://www.keyhero.com/free-typing-test/ Just as there are many ways to progress your text roleplay, there are also many ways that you can fail at it. In this section, I will be covering what not to do when text roleplaying. Because there are ways that can get in trouble if you don't text roleplay properly. No Abbreviations This is one of the main ones that seem to be a problem recently. Do not abbreviate your words, spell them out of use a different word. It looks rushed and honestly very unappealing. I will give an example of abbreviated text roleplay. Hey how r u doing. Do u want 2 go now? Never use single letters when text roleplaying, such as r and u. Along with numbers, shouldn’t be put in your text. It's better to spell them out, if not don't use them as a substitute for actual words. Such as too and to. No Net Lingo Just as with VOIP, net lingo is a no no. Words that you find on the internet, much to help shorten phrases. Such as WTF, GTFO, LMAO, ect. This should not be used in your text roleplay at all, even in VOIP its a bad thing to do. I’ll give an example. WTF, GTFO of here you loser LMAO. This is not good text roleplay at all. This can be substituted with other words, that can make it look better. That or just type out the whole words. With emoting out your laughing instead of LoL. Even showing your anger, as a emote can help fix this. Avoid doing this at all cost. Too Short Remember how I said simple and sweet, that is great but being too simple can just be bad text roleplaying as well. Typing one word, in a single post will make it seem like you could care less about what your typing. Along with what kind of roleplay you're giving someone, will decrease a lot. Eventually leading to people simply walking away from you, because they are not interested in your rp. Here is some example. Hi. Right. Yes. No. *Laughs* *Shrugs* *Sighs* Sometimes a single word can work, but to really make people pay attention to add an adjective to some of them. Even adding a few more words can make your text pop out. Instead of seeming bland. No Inner Monologuing It's surprising to see a few people doing this, and some might think it's ok to do. When it's not at all, and doesn’t give the people you are roleplaying with anything to go off of. Inner Monologuing, is when you emote out your thoughts and feelings. Which, is a little silly seeing as anyone roleplaying with you can't really see what your thinking or feeling. Yet, there are ways to go about getting your feelings across with emoting. But this is not it, I’ll give an example. *She stares at the sunset, thinking about her parents and if they are ok.* *Watches her friend get beat, anger sets in.* You should not emote out what your thoughts are, along with how you’re feeling constantly. But with feelings, it’s best to emote out a reaction to that feeling. Maybe it's gritting your teeth in anger, or tears falling down your cheeks. Something to see, so others can respond to it. Here is a good little thread about it, that is more in depth. http://www.dayzrp.com/t-Projection-Defined-and-How-To-Avoid-It Text roleplay isn’t better than VOIP roleplay, and vise versa. One isn’t the better, they both are as good. Give a text roleplayer a chance to prove to you, that they can do it. If they can’t hey maybe send this their way. Everyone is still learning new things in roleplay. Thus I leave you with some advice from a few experienced text roleplayers. Along with mentions of other very good text roleplayers. Spartan has been text rping since the beginning I think, he also pulls off a very good mute roleplay as well. He has played characters such as Nora Wilson, a very convincing mute. Along with Sara Cernik, a CDF soldier. When I think of text roleplay, I must say that his name was one of the first that came up. Here is his advice! [spoiler=Advice]What I always do and enjoy seeing other textrpers do is emoting small actions out. You can set the intention of your sentence much better, for example; "*she raises an eyebrow* really? " is much better than "really?". The emotes set the tone for the textrp much better than just the word. Of course you don't want to do it with every sentence because it will be a pain in the ass to communicate with you then. That brings us to the next point what I think is important as a textrper; speed. People get annoyed by waiting untill you are done with your sentence so try to not type a whole story for a small question. My typing speed went up alot since I started to textrp and thats good and will happen to you aswell when you start to textrp more. Sometimes it is just better to answer in short sentences than long ones for example with traveling but when you are having camp fire RP you might prefer the longer sentences again. Everyone just needs to find their ballance for that. NEVER abbreviate words. You won't be taken seriously when you textrp like "hi, how r u? got any food? no nvm". Never do that.. As a textRP you often get ignored by players who just don't see your text or just don't want to RP with you. I found out in my 1.5 year as a textRPer that the people who ignore you are most of the times not worth the RP. They often are too impatient and make excuses to leave. Don't force your textrp on them if they don't like it, find someone else who is worth the effort. It sucks but it is part of the whole textRP thing; being ignored. You can always send me a PM if you got any questions about TextRP (or muteRP). I hope this was useful Satan, also known as Crimson, and Amy Strange. Won Roleplayer of the year in 2014, with text roleplay. The speed he can type, is rather crazy some people think he has marco’s when he types. Last he looked he does 105 wpm, which is pretty good if you look. Hes one of the best text rpers on the server. This is his advice for text roleplaying. Using text RP can be wonderfully descriptive and emotive. Using words to express your actions, facial expressions and emotions can be both rewarding and exciting. Text RP can open up new options, such as using it to speak in a language you don't know and probably couldn't reasonably learn. So, example: [Chernarussian]: We should rob these stupid Americans. Not many people know Czech, so this opens up possibilities for role-playing. Keep your emotes simple but sweet. Long, overbearing text posts work well in world of Warcraft, but on Dayzrp, it's easier for peers that use voice to keep up with the text, especially when there are multiple other text RPers around. But description helps. Example: smiles could be: emits a cheerful smile not overbearing but not mundane and boring! If you're gonna text rp it helps to be an avid typist. No one wants to sit around, waiting five minutes for you to respond to them. It takes time, so practice! Unless you're roleplayer of the year 2k14, don't expect to be the center of attention with text rp. (JK) People need to remember that the basis of Role-playing on the Internet began with text rp. It's always been a huge factor in role-playing, most especially in video games. Text RP began with AOL and Yahoo! Chat rooms, before it evolved into forums and then finally MMORPGs such as Ultima Online, EverQuest and World of Warcraft. In almost any mmorpg you can find a role playing community and no one uses voice. Granted, DayZ is an entirely different game than those mentioned above. However, if the possibility and tools to Text RP are readily available, you can be sure people will use it, and for many reasons. Some people are too shy to use their own voice, or simply live with parents or roommates that they don't want to disturb when playing late at night. Some people use text because they love to read and write, which is evident in the Lore and Stories, as well as Radio Threads. And some people feel more immersed when using text RP to fulfill the desires of their imagination, to see creative writing actively at work and improvised. In a time where people crave instant gratification, it's easy to forget how to take some time to appreciate other people's innovation. It takes a bit more thought and imagination to roleplay via text. Conor, one of our ex-admins is also a very well known text roleplayer. He is also a very fast at typing, hes one of the first text roleplayers I ran into when I started roleplaying. He plays as both female and male characters, and often uses text for both of them. At the moment he is playing Anya Petrasek, the one I know him by more is Conor Samuels. He been text roleplaying for a good amount of time as well, probably longer than I have been here.

Hello friends and brothers! I have come to you today a little perturbed on your forum behavior. I generally like to take most dissent off of the forums of friends, but seeing as it is forum related I had to bring it on the thread. First off I'd like to state that I consider a great deal of you personal friends, and I'd like to hope that we can consider a vast majority of the players that make up this community our friends as well. In general I would describe this community as a group of like-minded friends who RP together in DayzRP together. So when I see a few "Big Dick" posts on radio chatter, and my group thread.. it makes me feel compelled to complain about it. We'll start here: big Dick #1 Whip was responding to a question postulated by Rolle, and he did for his part say (Mostly my fault) but did not elaborate why it could be considered a "fault" right? Which is fine. But quickly afterwards goes on to big dick me saying stuff like "He had to be put down" and other jargon. Apart from this incident making absolute zero IC sense, and borderline questionable RP.. we did our best with what we could and moved forward.. only to..a day or two later get big dicked about on it my group thread... Next we'll go here: More big dicking More dix Radio chatter threads have always been the havens of Big Dicking, and it is a little mean to put blame to you folks and only you.. Surely we have all done our part in "Big Dicking" And no one is perfect. however; You guys are some of the senior roleplayers this community has. Certainly on the US timezone. Some of you are even community leaders in Lore, and in staff. You are the examples of the community. The folks everyone should, and do, look up to. Hell I even look up to you fellers, you're great lads. I feel going out after a good natured firefight and saying "FUCK YEAH WE JUST SHIT ALL OVER THEM AAHH HAHAH GET FUCKED" is probably the most dumb, and immature thing a person could do. It doesn't work in real life... no one would consistently walk into a work place and go "Get FUCKED BOB!!" on a regular basis and hope to keep a job...or a friend for that matter... so why do it here? No one cares about how well you fucked folks in a firefight. No one cares how great your aim is in DayzRP. No one gives two biscuits about "who won the battle". What I think people do care about, is how the RP goes, how we treat another on the forums, and IG. Lack of age isnt the excuse, you all are near 20-25 range. I only ask that you set the example for the server, as everyone is, has ,and will continue, to look up to you. I won't try to make this a huge roasting session.. and will top it off to say, you guys have done great work in progressing your superior-ness in other radio threads like this one: fantastic this was a great post, showing that you were going to kill all those who stood in your way, and that the lord is your power. 10/10 great progression RP. Far and above "YOU SAW WHAT WE DID TO THOSE FUCKERS WHO TRIED HELPING YOU... GET FUCKED" I love you guys, please continue to set the great example for all us other heathens to follow going forward. <3

Improving Your RP For Yourself And Everyone Else This is just a small(ish) guide to help improve your RP in just those small ways. This is mainly targeted at newer members, but there are some tips that everyone should take on board. If you follow this guide in-game, it should help improve your own RP, and it will also help develop and shape other people's RP as well. RED = Bad/Un-improved RP GREEN = Good/Improved RP PINK = Summary So, to get it started in no particular order: Pulse Checking So, lets put this into real life. In an apocalypse, or even just normal life, would you run up to someone, about 20cm away from their face, say nothing and then take five steps back? The answer is no, you wouldn't. Pulse checking is a habit that you should stop, period. Sure, if you think that someone might initiate and you can do it subtly, then it's better. But you have to remember, it is still metagaming. You can't just pulse-check someone and then say their full name, it ruins RP and will most likely lead to the other party getting pissed off and may lead in you getting initiated on. Pain RP You will feel pain in the game in some way or another. If you're alone or with a friend and say you get hit by a zombie, don't worry about it so much. The problem is when you don't show pain when surrounded by other people or when you are being tortured. It makes the RP awful and hard for the torturer. I was a part of the Pagans, where we nailed people to trees pretty much everyday. To nail someone to a tree and you get silence or a pathetic 'Ow', it ends the RP then and there. A lot of times we had to decide to just let the hostages go as it wasn't fun for anyone, which is a shame as hostile and torture RP are to be enjoyed. So in short, make an effort to show pain, and if you feel uncomfortable making strange grunting noises through VOIP, switch to Text RP as it makes it a lot easier, e.g. *Clenches teeth in agony as his fingers are broken* Unique Characters In this world, it is expected that a lot of people of the same profession will be involved in an apocalypse. The way to improve the RP is to make your character more unique than someone else. The best way is to pick a job that is really ambiguous and that hasn't been done before, i.e. a RNLI volunteer. Once you have this unique character, you can develop your own play style relating to that character. Try and make the backstory unique as well instead of the usual "I came to help with the quarantine". Think about some strange reason why they would be here. Maybe your character was "doing a worldwide trip of Castles, and came to Chernarus to visit Zub". The more unique, the better the RP. However, don't let this stop you playing a character or role that you want to play, just keep it in mind. Emotes This is a huge, huge way to make your RP great. It adds that little detail that shows you are dedicated to your RP, and it will make you stand out. So, to put this in a scenario: 1. Goes over to the well -> Takes facemask off with no emote -> Drinks from well 2. Goes over to well -> *Carefully takes his facemask off, revealing multiple scars* -> Drinks from well See the difference? It is subtle, and requires almost no effort, but it helps other people RP as well. For Option 1, all someone might say it "How are you?", but with Option 2 it will lead to a different and more enjoyable RP of "Holy shit, how did you get those scars?", which will lead to character development on both sides as you have emoted something that they would not know otherwise. This makes it enjoyable and it gives you an excuse to discuss your unique past or backstory, so it is a win-win for everyone involved. So, emoting leads to better RP from everyone involved. General Points Now, there are many points in this that have been covered in depth by other guides, but these are some small things: A Lack of Knowledge So, say we are playing our example of an RNLI volunteer, he would know skills that are related to his job and work, but would not know other things. For example, he would understand and know First-Aid as it is a basic requirement of his job, but he would not know anything about weapons. Everyone hates it when someone runs up to you and asks for 5.56 ammo, but with a lack of knowledge, it will make it a bit more enjoyable. Instead of just stating 'No' or 'Yes', instead say 'Is it these small, brass ones?' or 'What does it look like, I got a variety of ammo'. It will improve the RP from you and will result in the other party having to describe the bullets, so everyone is happy. Another example of this includes Locations. Would your character know every single town in Chernarus? If he was a local, sure, it is his country, but someone who was a tourist in the country would have no idea what towns are where. It again leads to RP as you can go and ask someone where you are, and will result in you meeting some new people. A Lack of Skills Very much like the one above, this is relating to what your character would be able to do In-Characterly. Again, using the RNLI volunteer, would he be able to operate some single shot rifle? Probably. Would he be able to use an AK or maintain one? No, he would have no idea, and as such In-Characterly it makes no sense of him to be using one. Same with medical skills. Sure, he would be able to tie a bandage, splint a leg, etc. but he wouldn't be able to perform heart-surgery of take a bullet out. So in short, know what your character would know. (NEW SECTION) Using Your Backstory in RP Situations This is mainly relating to people who use their backstory for their reasons to survive or their purpose. I myself play as a Doctor and as such use that ICly by being able to help people with medical issues. If you play a soldier then that might give you a reason to be more proficient with firearms or know what ammo type they use. HOWEVER you cannot use your backstory as a reason to do things in-game that will break/bypass any of the server rules. The most common example of this is people who play mentally ill patients/sufferers. This, if RPed out well, can be a great experience and there are a large number of guides on how to play someone like that. HOWEVER because you are mentally ill that doesn't mean you can sprint around the place screaming the aliens are coming or something along those lines. It's bad RP and just ruins immersion. Another example of this is soldiers. Because of their 'training' they are now supposedly immune to torture/pain. This is not how training works. I don't care whether you're just a poor grunt or a S.A.S. veteran, as long as you have nerves in your body you will feel pain. So, in summary, DO NOT use your backstory as an excuse to circumvent the rules. Equipment Items Please, for the love of God, stop saying the item names from the game. It ruins RP for everyone. For example, someone running up to you and straight up asking for a Leather Sewing Kit. Unless as I stated your character has been some sort of leather-worker, it makes no sense why you would call it that. The best way to solve this is to DESCRIBE the item, not say the name, for example: 1. 'Hey, do you have a leather sewing kit?' 2. 'Hey, do you have something that I could use to patch up my jacket? It's got a bunch of holes in it' Again, it will make the RP more enjoyable for both sides and can lead to stories of why the jacket ended up like that in the first place. Clothing In short, wear what your character would wear. However, you have to remember that we are almost two years into the apocalypse, so it might not make sense for someone to still be wearing their 'original' clothing. For example, would a doctor or surgeon still wear a lab coat or medical scrubs this far in? Or if you are going to continue wearing say a lab coat, why are you going to continue wearing it? Have a reason. My character used to carry around a UN beret as it reminded him of his team that were killed at the start. More improvements relating to clothing is sizes of clothing. This especially applies to bandits. You kidnap some poor person and decide you want their jacket. The only problem is, you're robbing someone playing a 15 year old girl and your're playing a 7ft tall ex-basketball player. Will the jacket fit? I think not. The same with shoes and boots. My character has size 9 feet, and yet apparently bandits are able to fit their size 12's in my boots with no issues. Of course, there is a whole sense of what the opposing party will know at that moment of time, so make it known. If they take your boots, tell them that they aren't going to fit as you've got tiny little feet. It will (hopefully) lead to some more RP from their size, and may even result in you getting your boots back. In summary, pick clothes that you would wear and don't know what every item is. Language/Vocabulary So, small section in how to make your RP enjoyable is to use more appropriate words regarding your character, and to get away from words associated from DayZ as it will improve your RP massively. So, some examples: 1. What are you doing here? - 'I'm here to loot up/loot the place' 2. What are you doing here? - 'I'm just looking for supplies, you know? There might still be some stuff around' 3. 'Please saline me / My legs are broken, I need morphine' 4. 'Hey, do you have anything that might help me? I've lost a lot of blood / Please, I need something for the pain, I'm in agony right now' ]Again, just by changing the order of words and by avoiding item names and DayZ terms, the RP becomes better and allows for more unique interactions between you and another player. This can lead to in-depth medical RP which myself and other RP doctor's crave for, but we never seem to get it. So, changing your vocabulary will lead to more unique RP. Awkward Moments This is a way to avoid those awkward moments in DayZ and to keep the RP going. You're having great RP with someone and then another person spawns in right next to you. The best solution? Ignore them. The amount of times people say 'Oh, he just woke up' as a response makes you cringe. There will be times in DayZ when you will crash, and you will spawn in at an awkward place. The problem with RP-ing that they 'just woke up' makes no sense as who would go to sleep in the middle of a road? There are also times when people miss-click, or they go to eat and DayZ being itself, they decide to eat lying down. Just ignore it, pretend it never happened or it becomes awkward for everyone involved. Remember, the person who just ate lying down didn't intend for it to happen, and will have no reason of why they did it, resulting in awkward silence as everyone thinks of excuses. So finally, ignore an event that would lead to awkward or stale RP. TL;DR -Pulse checking is a habit that you should stop, period -Make an effort to show pain -The more unique, the better the RP -Emoting leads to better RP from everyone involved -Know what your character would know -DO NOT use your backstory as an excuse to circumvent the rules -Pick clothes that you would wear and don't know what every item is -Changing your vocabulary will lead to more unique RP -Ignore an event that would lead to awkward or stale RP

I'm sorry to say this but i'm sure there's a lot more than just me thinking this. In the last few weeks the player base has doubled which is a very good thing but also is a very very bad thing. Positives of the rapid growth: Activity on the servers has massively increased. There has of course been a lot of really good RP brought in by these new people. I really do wish i could think of more positive points (Other than the increased revenue brought in). Negatives of the rapid growth: The quality of RP has dropped like a ton of bricks. The level of gear RP is insane with most players looking as if there gearing up for WW3. Hostile RP seems to be the only type of RP now with everyone you talk to or meet in game either expecting to be robbed/killed or readying themselves to rob/kill you. People don't actually understand/properly read the rules which can be clearly seen by the shear amount of reports in the last few weeks. The amount of thought and effort put in establishing your character and then progressing them seems to non existent. These are of course my opinions on the state of the community at this moment and time and really i'm just getting pissed off and felt like sharing my views. Of course i would love to here what others in the community think as well. I'm just going to leave two short videos here to just somewhat establish my point about the quality of RP dropping. When it comes to new players I have in the past gone with the whole "record report this rp is shit lol" type of attitude. But when I returned this month I ended playing with a lot of new players several on their first day and instead of reporting them I tried to help them out as best as I could. If a new player is genuinly new to role playing and they end up getting reported when they probably didn't know better is not the best of first impressions and makes people quit. If you want the rp quality to get better then take action yourself man.

The Prison Escape [align=left]Disclaimer: Not too long ago there was an event that consisted of prison RP on Austellus* island. The event was set and done well, I can not begin to imagine the hardships the creator must have gone through. I enjoyed my time and I got to further the RP for my character. I do however believe that the problems that persisted can be used as a learning curve for this event. So to make sure this learning I done did doesn't go to waste I feel that the event should be introduced once more. For this only 1 gun is being used and 31 players is the maximum. [align=left]*Shoutout goes to my bois JabJab and zero [align=left]Synopsis: After the prison fell and many escaped, only a few prisoners and guards remain. After the warden escaped a new one was promoted amongst the chaos. The morale for the guards was low as they buried their comrades. The morale for the prisoners was increasing as their chance for escape was close. The location. [align=left]STRAIGHT OFF THE BAT, going into the event both members must fully understand the rules. They must play their part and act a certain way. After the events of the last breakout I believe the most loyal and trusting would stay. I also believe the lone wolf prisoners would still be trapped. THE WARDEN (1) [align=left]Though the old warden left the new one was promoted for a reason. This warden must be a stern and assertive character. They must have a 'captain sinks with his ship' mentality. They will stay on the island until the end, or if they feel all is lost they might want to end it all right there and then. THE GUARDS (10) [align=left]These guards were not as friendly as before, they were the ones that did not help the prisoners escape. They are also the remaining survivors of the firefights that ensued. These characters must have a very strict opinion towards the prisoners, or at least they feel the need to pretend that this is the case. The guards that will mostly help the prisoners will be set, after the applications are sent in I will pick them randomly (these are called THE PRISONERS (20) [align=left]Less restricting, these prisoners are merely the ones that did not escape. Groups for these prisoners is not limited but smaller or no groups is pushed. [align=left]WEAPONS [align=left]WARDEN: Stun Baton, Glock (2x Mags) [align=left]GUARD: Stun Baton / Telescopic Baton [align=left]EQUIPMENT [align=left]WARDEN: Handcuffs, Keys [align=left]GUARD: Handcuffs, Keys [align=left]CLOTHES [align=left]WARDEN: Police Jacket, Police Pants, Working Gloves, Leather Shoes, Police Cap [align=left]GUARD: Police Jacket, Police Pants / OREL Jacket, OREL Pants + Military Boots [align=left]PRISONER: Tracksuit Jacket, Tracksuit Pants / Red Paramedic Jacket, Red Paramedic Pants RULES [align=left]The Warden, [align=left]1. Must stay on the island until they die/event ends [align=left]2. Must only use the pistol as a last resort (killing is a last resort) [align=left]3. Keep order [align=left]4. Pick suspious prisoners [align=left]5. In control of which prisoner is checked up [align=left]The Guard, [align=left]1. Must find out who the prisoner helper* amongst them is [align=left]2. Follow the Wardens orders [align=left]3. Help keep order [align=left]4. Use weapons on the body and when necessary (killing is a last resort) [align=left]5. Keep to the schedule [align=left]The Prisoner, [align=left]1. No keystering, if searched you must give up anything asked for [align=left]2. Must find a way out [align=left]3. Form alliances, prisoners should feel attached to each other now [align=left]4. Keep the prisoner helper secret [align=left]Overall, [align=left]1. Killing is a last resort [align=left]2. No initiation needed [align=left]3. Lives matter, try to work situations out [align=left]4. Follow your schedule [align=left]5. Have fun, and help others have fun [align=left]6. Follow all the rules for the betterment of the event The Prisoner Helper is the guards that help the prisoners (these will be set from the beginning) Schedule (3 Hours in total) Key: Quad OW = Quad Over Watch This Colour= when prisoners are in the cells these roles will become roamers Quad: Guards will walk around the quad, talking to prisoners Quad OW: Guards will be on the towers and keep an eye on all prisoners Cell Check: Checks the cells Interrogation: Prisoners picked will be interrogated by any means for information Armoury: Guards the armoury room (a barrel full of weapons) Roaming: Guards roam around the grounds and report anything strange My Aim My aim would be for some amazing roleplay between great members of this community, new and old. I feel PVP will be necessary closer to the end and my hope is that its a full on melee war. The Prisoners will gain weapons and use the schedule to their advantage as the Guards will try to stop this. The lack of guns will enforce this and ensure people die less. I feel that a major problem was the death rate, the other problem was the noise which stopped all RP. This is why I am setting the maximum players to 31. I also want to provide the majority of the equipment, this will be sorted out in time but I also want to notify everyone that before the beginning a strip search will be done so no unwanted items is created. This will be done through RP means. By signing up for this event you acknowledge the lack of rules and the regulations that must be kept for RP's sake. Send me a PM with the following: [align=left]Name: [align=left]Prisoner/Guard: [align=left]Brief Character Background: [align=left]Motivations: [align=left]What makes you good for the job? So the best option is to just put up with it without fixing the problem at the core? How do we fix the problem at the core though? It's no secret that most of these people came with PSISyndicat, so banning him would be to fix it at the core? I have to agree a thread like this won't help anybody, if you want to talk to them, then talk to them. If you want to report them, do it.

How about your 2 friends that were there as well? The ones we talked to? Anyway, I'll just add some things worth mentioning. After Aaro was shot, I later said to the "believer" that "If I now start taking shots, I'll shoot you. This is your only chance to tell your friends" (Not word to word) And yet moments later I started taking shots again. Obviously that believer guy's life wasn't worth anything to you. You didn't want to do ANY kind of negotiations, you just wanted to kill us just because you thought you could. We didn't initiate on the guy in the car. Aaro didn't say "get out or I'll shoot" or "put your hands up or get shot". He was also in a car which means that we should've used text along with voice to initiate but we didn't as we didn't initiate in the first place. Then as Aaro said, he asked that is it fair that he is taking our car that we have spent time on and then got shot. What?? Then you're telling us that we didn't try to negotiate? That doesn't make any sense. You started shooting before the believer could even answer Aaro's question. By the way Aaro had a pistol and a bolt action not an automatic weapon. AFAIK raising a gun doesn't grant you KOS rights on anyone, but I'll leave that for the staff to decide. Also, no point arguing about the ownership of the car. In our eyes you were stealing from us but in your eyes the car was yours.

Here we are again, 4 years later! We've had some major hiccups in the past year, the 0.59 patch which we've been stuck with for the most part of the year, snakes in the community, my financial issues, failed side projects and really bad DDoS attacks, but we've bounced back from all of these things. Some people said DayZRP would surely die this past year, instead we've started breaking records I'd like to thank all community members who have stuck with us in the past year despite the ups and downs, all current and previous staff members who helped with the enormous workload and all content creators that helped to promote our community. You're all great and DayZRP would not be here without you! Next year we'll be celebrating on a new website and hopefully playing DayZ Beta! As a celebration of the anniversary, all Premium ranks above Donor are 50% off for the rest of the day. Donor rank can't be lowered due to the small amount and PayPal fees involved. As with the previous sale, if you want to upgrade your rank you need to make a transaction to trigger these new sale thresholds.

Stradic put another log on the fire to keep it going when he hears a voice coming from his radio. He listens to the man before pushing down on the transmit button... " Mate, I am well aware people will impersonate. I don't exactly have a tendency to just believe someone right off the bat. I just figured this would be a great way to let these supposed CDF tell us as to what it is they want exactly cause so far all I've managed to gather is that they hate foreigners and that the airfields and military compounds belong to them. " Stradic places the radio back down and continues to stay warm by the fire.

Perhaps take the items out of the vehicle, or maybe move it somewhere that no one else can access it? You never told anyone that it was your car, and you could have asked Owen whether he had taken anything from the car instead of shouting at him and forcing him to be restrained so you could take HIS belongings, not even knowing if they were yours because he could have had identical items to yours anyway? But to be fair, you say we seemed more interested in pvp than rp, yet you seemed more interested in gearRP due to the fact you stopped talking after you restrained him and "gagged" him? It seems as though you're all fairly new to RP as it says you joined this month, so maybe you should take the time to read the rules thoroughly and take more precaution with hostile situations next time.

With the amount of new RPers coming into the community, the quality of RP is obviously going to drop a significant amount. Many of these people are players with little to no RP experience. When I first joined, I knew my RP was garbage but the only thing I could do was play as much as possible to make myself better. Given time, all the rule-breakers and GearRPers will be weeded out and only the members who really want to improve their RP and contribute to the community will be left. This has happened many times in the past and it will happen again in the future. Something I suggest, and I do not mean this as an insult, is to, instead of complaining, help them out. If these people break character, pulse check them, get their forum name, and ask to talk to them. Speak to them about the importance of staying in character and thinking about the people around them instead of the gear around them. Educate them on the ins and outs of RPing a character. As I said above, many of these people do not have experience RPing and it will be hard to adjust to the ideas and rules of the community. If you do not wish to talk with them or feel they would not listen, simply report them. Not all the blame should lie with these new people joining the community. It is our job as experienced community members and RPers to help teach the new members who want to learn, leading them in the right direction, and weed out the trolls, GearRPers, and rule-breakers. It should be a community-wide effort and it is everyone's job to contribute. A perfect example of someone who is taking initiative and trying to actively help these new players is Phoenix. In her group's, Outrun's (which I am apart of), recruitment section, she writes this: This is a perfect example of someone going out of their way to actively help new members in the community by encouraging them to apply and offering to help them further their RP. I feel like things like this are lacking within the community and more needs to be done to help these newcomers. This is just my 2 cents on the topic. Feel free to add on if you feel something else should be done or you can criticize if you feel something I state was wrong.

Verdict: Adarius Greene: Trolling - Guilty. Reason: We as staff have looked at this case in great detail and have come to a solid judgement in regards to this case. Adarius Greene, we have looked through the video evidence, POVs and the chat logs provided and we are absolutely appalled by the behavior you have demonstrated in this case. Let us go ahead and recap the situation which is seen in the video. You are approached by Braxton Knight in Kabanino. As he approaches you, you start off the conversation by saying that your friend has a task for him and you proceed to ask him if he wishes to help. Let us quote you from the video "I'm kinda in the mood to suck a cock, and I kinda wanna suck yours. If I could" After this completely immature statement, you then follow it up with an even childish statement saying: "Me you fellow black men, we can attempt to have a fellow black child." After you saying these statements, it's very clear that Braxton was not interested at all in creating babies with you. You then say afterwards: "You're a black man. There is nobody I would rather do it too then you." Braxton then again states that he is not interested. You then say that you'll ask again next time and then emphasize the point that "There will be a next time" with a very childish tone. You then carry on persisting the sexual harassment saying that he will eventually come around to your sexual deeds, calling him thirsty. This is then when you emote in chat *Blows kiss* Looking through at these time stamps and quotes, we are completely appalled as to why you believed that you was not trolling as you stated in your POV on post #6. You state that you questioned him about it once then stopped there because he said he was uncomfortable. No. This was the main topic of the agenda for nearly the whole duration of your conversation with Braxton. He stated that he felt uncomfortable and did not want to partake in such actions. You resumed to provoke him in saying that you would win him over in your next meet with him. Also, the immature behavior in saying that you wish to have intercourse with another man to create a baby is beyond us. There is no possible way for us to see through your perceive the situation through your shoes and to say you were being totally serious. You started to sexually harass another man which you had no prior role play with, meaning that all of these seduction methods also came from having no context. You were clearly looking to have a laugh and you are now being punished. We also have a very strict procedure for situations like the one seen in this case, as you can see in the rules. Even though you may not of been engaging in rape role play, you were being very immature and very abusive. No member of this community should feel have to feel so awkward in having someone randomly coming up to them and asking them to perform sexual actions upon them. We do not employ this kind of behavior in this community. You can also that you also preformed some of these sexual actions in-game to someone else prior to this situation. 09:18:50 | Chat("Adarius Greene"): *puts arm around friend* 09:23:15 | Chat("Adarius Greene"): `*unzipps pants 09:25:51 | Chat("Adarius Greene"): //playing with 1 hand We do allow erotic roleplay. It is allowed under the circumstance that it is not around populated areas and effecting anyone else's role play. Judging by the timings of the logs, there is a very high chance that you performed these actions whilst being in Kabanino which is one of the largest hotspots on the map. We do not allow this at all, as this can be very disturbing for people. If you wanted to roleplay with someone in this manner, you take it away from other players and perhaps use third party software chat such as Steam to preform such actions to avoid the risk that someone may be around watching these chat logs. Another thing we would like to address a few points from you Adarius which you stated in your POV on post #6: If this report has been filed and it was a girl in your case who was asking to perform sexual actions upon another person, it would be handled exactly the same as your situation has been. We do not discriminate towards other genders, as they are treated equally. If a girl has broke the same rules that another boy was punished for, she would receive the same punishment. We do not look through cases and have the mentality of "Oh, it's a girl. We need to be lenient on them." Remember that every community member on DayZRP is judged the equally as fair, no matter what race or gender. You also state the following: As stated just above, we do not discriminate gender. The same applies to sexuality. We have no problem with gay or bisexual relationships in-game since it is a very normal and common thing. The problem we do have is that you wish to ERP with random other "dudes" without any context or permission. This is what we have a problem with. If you truly wanted to hit it off with Braxton, you would attempt to be flirtatious towards him hoping that it may develop into something else which could lead to some erotic role play which you would take away from hot spots such as Kabanino. In this case, he was completely disinterested and did not possess the same sexuality as you. With the above stated the following applies: Outcome: Adarius Greene: Trolling - Guilty - 1 Banstrike, 7 Day Ban. Because of this trolling punishment, that brings up your total point count to 30. This means that you will be permanently removed from our community. We suggest that you take these suggestions and tips on board so you can perhaps try to avoid these kinds of mistakes in your potential future role play encounters elsewhere. Good luck elsewhere.

This is Joel Grimes, I personally thought this wasnt a bad RP encounter, I wasnt there to confirm on the lost souls situation but I can see how Mark can come to his conclusion from the video evidence provided. To my knowledge Mark was also right about them not re-searching him for a radio, I know I'm coming off as biased but I too did not realize that Duncan and his friend had crashed mid game but anyway here is my POV I was gearing up at pavlovo mil where I was then forced to get into a car by 3 people and then driven to a forest and was told to get out. One thing led to another with me and mike being held up and getting put into restraints. The green checkered shirt guy then took mark deeper into the forest to talk to him. Me and Duncan then talked for quite some time. Duncan then appeared to be walking toward his friend and where mark was (appearently this was when they both crashed) I took this opportunity to break out of my restraints but I wanted to continue my conversation with duncan so I stayed put. I barely saw Mark run off thinking they went over to him and let him go. After I saw Duncans body spawn right in front of me I realized they had crashed, I pointed green check shirt guy in the direction I saw Mark run off to, (sorry mark i sold you out ) me and duncan continued talking until Mark in restraints and the Checkered Shirt guy came back, More talking went on unnto the forest thinking those guys wouldve tried to kill me. till silenced gun shots wrang out and duncans friend dropped and I booked it with duncan After running with him for a couple minuets I ran in a different direction and headed back up to where the show-down took place thinking I could grab some left over gear and ended up talking with the guys that saved me for a bit and realized they were mikes friend. We then parted ways and I went on with my day. Overall I thought this encounter went well for me and enjoyed this RP experience didnt really think anything went wrong.

Jason Winnfield POV: I had been at the tents with the gun runners for a decent amount of time, and when the kingdom arrived, I headed into the trees on the western hill where kingdom or Akrasia members had set up sniper positions. I was therefore not neat any initiation messages, and I was told nothing of value over the radio. All I've heard is that my men were talking to Jofferey and his men and the situation was friendly. Next thing I know, the snipers who where higher on the hill and on the now enemy side start shooting at my allies in the tents, and I had no idea who was shooting who because nobody was correctly using the radio and many had fallen dead. Sitting in my tree and observing I could see Akrasia members running from behind me into the tents, and I know from radio chatter and my observation that Akrasia (at that time all I knew was that they were the guys with the red armbands) was attacking my allies and to the best of my limited Intel everyone else in the tents. So, I turned around, picked out one sniper who I had watched shooting at my men, and it shows in the hit logs and I shot him in the head and he dropped. Taking me opportunity to escape, I left my position and started heading north where I ran into 2 kingdom gentlemen. I didn't shoot them on sight because I had no idea if they were indeed hostile to us, and I was only sure that it was the men in the red arm bands who were hostile. The onr man told me to stop, and I tried asking what was going on and if they needed help and that there were men in the trees from where I had come who were hostile and had red armbands. They made me drop pretty much everything and they tied me up, and I was complacent. They took my radio and that was what my first //yes message was for. They instructed me to follow them to the tents when I told them I was a gunrunner and had shot a member of the Akrasia. After some limited questioning I was then asked if I had a radio, and I responded saying //you already took it. They were mad at me for killing the man I had, and they proceeded to beat me into unconsciousness. Then I got kicked from the server, so my character reset. If there are any other questions for me simply ask. In all truthfulness, we really just got wrecked.

Hello lukaszxe, We have looked over the report you were in with all the PoV's provided and this ban appeal and have come to the following conclusion. Throughout the video seen in the report provided by you we can see a lot of bad RP that was already punished in the verdict, such as the "sahhh dudes" and the demanding to take his pants off so on so forth. Now throughout this video you did not take part in any of this. In character you even said that everyone needed to "calm down" trying to diffuse the bad role play. If you find yourself in a situation like this again we would suggest that you say in TeamSpeak to knock it off, it is evident that you knew what was going on was Bad RP. Additionally you only had the hostage for roughly 20 seconds before shooting started and everyone was forced to scramble. During this situation there was role play going on with the hostage you can hear. There were also demands being made to the outside people as you were running around trying to find the people firing and protect your friends while they secured the hostages. Based on this there is simply put not enough to warrant giving you a bad RP punishment for this. If you had successfully brought the hostage to a secure location and he had not received any role play from you or your allies as you sifted through his inventory then there would be grounds for Bad RP. However in this case there was simply not enough time in this situation to judge any role play that you had provided. With that being said the punishment you received was not warranted and we will be removing your ban and points. Appeal Accepted - Ban and Points Removed

I won't comment on this again cause it genuinely pisses me off and I just want the situation to be dealt with by a team of admins, but some of these reports you see that were listed above are absolute garbage. A short summary of one was "We saw ur guys, so we opened fire and you killed the hostage, the rules clearly state you are not allowed to kill the hostage when you are opened up from. They said, "instead of killing the hostage, you should have roleplayed with him and tried to contact us through his radio, but you decided to kill him and thats against rules!" What absolute bullshit. Such a double standard rule I fail to see how this is even fair, you're telling me that if I have a hostage and i'm opened fire on with NO initiation from the white knights, I have to try to come in contact with you to cease fire and end the conflict peacefully? Please, anyone of power answer this question. Why is the hostage taker expected to role play after being opened fire on without any contact from the white knights that are doing the firing? Lets make this clear one more time, If you open fire on a hostage taker without ANY contact to resolve the manner peacefully, YOU are the one that is throwing your friend under the bus, and the hostage DESERVES to be shot, compliant or not.

It was kind of hard to practice at first with the friends I used to have as they would simply look at me weird if I started doing Bubbles voice from Powerpuff girls . But! Now living with people that are as weird as me it's a daily thing. Mainly mimic Fictional characters like Final Fantasy Characters, Harley Quinn, couple kid voices that I used for a few of my characters.

Age is a problem, for some it may just be a number and for the most part it is that way for the ones that are complaining about it. This is a mature game and network/RolePlay community and therefore an age restriction is vital. For the most part as others have already said, having younger players in this community lead to more trolling, flaming, KOS and rule breaking in general. I also agree that think age should be moved up to 18. To me 16 is a BIG compromise. I have heard and witness things I would NEVER allow my children to be around at their age. I do not believe that my children (the ones that are right under the age limit) are mature enough to deal with or RP out what I have RP and have seen others do. I would also, as an adult, not feel very comfortable RPing with a child (the ones that I know are) some of the things that we RP. I mean really think about it before you ask the question again.. for those that are under 16,17,18 ... Look to your younger friends and siblings friends then look to your parents and their friends... Pick 2 of them. Picture them walking up to you on the road of Gorka and .. Now put your self in a full-on RP with them. Make sure you throw in the F-Word and PLEASE use it like a comma (bc the players just love the F-word like the air they breath) and then add a few off color comments about race, a dash of sexual content with a hidden amount of drugs/alcohol and make sure while this is happening you picture your compainions/friends jumping around acting like they are crazy and are in the need of the 4th floor of the hospital..then add some more cussing and yelling and possible killing.... now again picture those people/friends/family of younger and 'older" age .... tell me that you did NOT just puke a little in your mouth.. For those of you that are right at the borderline of the age limit and are upset bc you do not want to wait, please just be respectful for what this community has in place and understand that a very large % is over the age of 21 and WE would rather the age be higher,(bc most of us are wondering what the age of the squeaky voice is and if we should even....finish the normal RP) So again please be respectful and let it flippin go already
