No need to get your knickers in a twist friend, I now see where you're coming from. Perhaps a little too much emphasis on words over behaviours but hey, who am I to judge a man who enjoys the more overt aspects of roleplay.

Im just wondering you can say it all you want in game but you cant even say it in the discord. Doesn't make sense to me.

It's called IC and OOC.

Literally the only reason for it to be "unnecessary" is the issue twitch streamers have with it.

If you want more big time streamers, ban the use of extreme words. If not, who actually cares. It's unnecessary to suppress people's vocabs in character-ly just because a word offends you OOC. We're playing a character, if it's not memey and used appropriately then it's not BadRP.

Simply put, no. If someone wants to play a homophobic or racist character, they’re well within their right to do so. We should not neuter roleplay just so that like five people are able to stream more safely.

Moreover there are people that have streamed here for a long ass time that have never been banned from twitch regardless if mean words are said in front of them or not.

Unless you have an audience of 1k you have literally nothing to worry about.

Streaming aside I think it’s silly to get offended over this stuff anyways. As a gay person I could literally care less OOC if someone called me “The F word” in game.

My opinion? People who rely solely on dropping "edgy" words need to reevaluate their roleplay skills, cause it's repetitive and annoying.

The occasional word for dramatic purposes, and to heighten the roleplay? Definitely. It's role playing after all. As long as it doesn't cross over into a trolly nature, there's nothing wrong with it.

Streamers? It's been said before, but unless you have thousands of viewers it's never gonna be a problem. And trust me... If you're streaming DayZRP you're never gonna have thousands of people watching. Too much talking and not enough killing involved in roleplay servers.

In my honest opinion, as long as there is IC reason to use the words, I see no problem with it.

If someone goes out of their way to target someone, and use discriminatory terms towards them only, then I could see that being a problem.

This is something people need to work on. Separating OOC and IC. The context of which you say a word has a lot to do with the meaning of it. Just like actors they aren't actually racist or homophobic (hopefully) they are just putting on an act.

I do Im just trying to give a counter argument of some sort. Honestly I could care less what people say ooc or ic.

I could care less what words people use on an online server and believe they should rp however they want, yet at the same time I do find it strange having a bunch of people repetitively drop hard n words on the internet for their roleplay. Almost as if they cant say it in real life so they come online to do it for the edgy memes and to be cool. But once again it doesn't bother me at all I just think it is a little funny.

-1, I am a gamer and by default are allowed to use the N-word as I wish.

For real, though I don't care about your stream. Not my problem as I am not streaming, that is a 3rd party thing you choose to do so I shouldn't be liable for following guidelines I have not agreed to. I agreed to DayZRP's guidelines and rules, I did not agree to Twitch.tv's rules. Sorry, not sorry.

Now, I know this is roleplay and it’s trying to be realistic and people’s characters can say what they like and whatnot, but the n word and f word and many more, in my opinion, should not be allowed to be said.

There is many people who stream this server and enjoy streaming this server but sometimes they cannot because some people would start saying racist and homophobic shit to someone or the streamer. For people who don’t know Twitch can ban people for having racist or homophobic comments being made even if it wasn’t the streamer themselves. I have had to end my stream 1 time because some guy started saying the n word over and over again.

It’s just unnecessary people do not NEED to start calling people n words and f words and what not, please do something about this.

Not sure where people keep getting this information, but pretty sure there is nothing in the twitch tos about the streamer being accountable for the verbose of those they are actively playing with, but only of their own personal content. I've checked a few times and have never seen anything of the sort.

Really depends on how much it has been said and who the streamer is , the bigger the streamer the more chance they would get banned for it ( if they didn't mute ) because of advertisers and stuff. But im not being mean to the streamers of dayzrp but i doubt their would be someone streaming this server with over 10k viewers so i think streamers should be ok , if it bothers you alot then leave.

//No was the automatic response for the rape thread, right?

Just say //no, pls stop kthx

Problem solved.

In all seriousness, if it's not done in a trolly way then it's fine. Twitch streamers read and understand the rules I'm sure, so they get what they're in for when they come around. If you don't like the shit happening to you, follow the less serious response I gave above.

Pretty sure what people mostly reference is this section of the Twitch TOS:

"9. Prohibited Conduct.

....

You agree that you will comply with these Terms of Service and Twitch’s Community Guidelines and will not:

i. create, upload, transmit, distribute, or store any content that is inaccurate, unlawful, infringing, defamatory, obscene, pornographic, invasive of privacy or publicity rights, harassing, threatening, abusive, inflammatory, or otherwise objectionable;"

Doesn't say anywhere that the streamer necessarily has to be the one that is "harassing" or "abusive". They just throw out the blanket statement of "content". Still not really anything that is gonna be a problem for small DayZ Standalone streamers. I'm sure worse is said in the lobbies of Rainbow Six Siege streams so... Yeah.

Honestly, You play an Online game with an Online community. It is the internet, Banning words have been done before and people didn't like it limited the dramatic expression you could make at times. twitch could care less if someone in a public game says it once or twice If it is overused they get involved. But for twitch mainly the sponsor who control what u can say.

In the United States of America, we have something called the First Amendment. Just like in many other other countries across the world with similar human rights, it's called Freedom of Speech.

I don't think we should limit people to speak freely, especially by censoring their vocabulary. If I want to say the N word or swear up a storm, using the F word as a verb, adjective, and a pro-noun in the same god damn sentence; I should be able to do without restriction (within reason).

I see no reason why DayZRP or it's community member should compromise with Twitch's social etiquette. Frankly, it's pretty stupid Twitch has such restrictions and I would recommend using a different platform. The gaming world is full of mature audiences (adults), just as much as it is for teenagers and younglings, nowadays.

Perhaps make a poll on this and let the community decide on a yes or no decision. Last suggestion (which was about rape roleplay) was where a rule was put in place. That would be the best idea to do with this too.

...And FYI, it's not a rule. At least, I can't seem to find one anywhere. There's no current rules restricting this kind of behavior and frankly I am happy it's that way, as I don't believe any form of roleplay should be restricted. Because if both parties of consenting adults agree to the RapeRP, then I don't see why the hell they shouldn't be allowed too. If people have a damn problem with it, they go somewhere elsewhere. The map is many kilometers wide. That's plenty of area to walk around and interact with others.

EDIT: Not sure why my two replies didn't merge, as I tried to stay on-topic, but I figured I would say something , since you brought it up in this thread earlier.

Honestly I see no issue with this unless it is troll RP. Remember we are ROLEPLAYING and maybe someones character is racist/homophobic.. All you should do is just RP it out as your character would irl. You remember that it's the apocalypse and someone being racist is the very least of everyone's worries. I also don't think Twitch would ban you for what is being said in game unless it's very excessive/trolly

This is a mature role playing community. Anyone who can’t handle swearing can play on the Minecraft server
