The United Nations - MilSim (Open Recruitment)

Recommended Posts

This task force is derived from the same unit that the previous deployment came from, so it would be likely that these characters would know the members of the previous faction personally. The larger UN faction in the world deploys more people to Chernarus occasionally and recalls others, so there is some come and go. Not sure the obsession over ranks, I mean yeah Bread is going at this from a milsim perspective but Skinner's character was a Colonel and nobody had a problem, granted that faction was much larger.

There is also nothing wrong with being in charge of the "South Zagorian Unit of the UN", it doesn't erase or denigrate the previous iteration and the UN officially hasn't had anybody in SZ since September 2017. Chernarus is important because it is where everything started, and also because it hosts one of the UN's research facilities. So the idea that the UN would want to keep tabs in SZ or maintain a presence makes perfect sense.

Also I'd suggest not using armbands to denote rank. That's just gonna lead to complicated situations with getting mis-IDed.

Where is this facility located out of curiosity? and why don't they use the ones from there organizers instead of risking it all for one located in a wasteland at this point?
Surely samples were gathered by the UN when they came or with the help of 3'rd parties over a span of 500+ days.

Primorsk. It is the most secure area of the government safezone.

It's not just a research facility, it also allows the UN access to a certain area of the world to distribute supplies and maintain presence. And yes they did collect samples, specifically ones which led to the development of an anti-infected gas.

More samples are always needed to keep tabs on how infected change/mutate in various parts of the world and to collect info. Overall the UN's size in Chernarus has shrunk.

Hello everyone, I want to address everyone’s concerns over this group. I believe in transparency, and if the group doesn’t make sense, then it shouldn’t be a lore faction.

For starters, the Colonel thing was a mistake on my part. I apologize for that. However, what’s done is done, and I have already fixed that minor mistake.

When I said ‘Everyone who joins starts as a cadet’ I meant it. When I say something, I mean it. Even if you were previously a part of the U.N, you will not be keeping your original rank until you can prove to me IC and OOC that you can handle the responsibility of being in a leadership position. That being said, if you truly were higher rank based on your skills, you should have no problem rising the ranks, and you should gain your previous rank in a few days, no problem. (I will have linency towards those who previously held high ranks)

It’s a milsim group, things here are EARNED not given. If you don’t like that, this group is not for you. I will not ‘Pick favorites’ if I know you OOC, or for any other reason. Ranks in real life are distributed as such, and I believe if I want an accurate and successful MilSim group, you should have to earn your titles.

They being said, ranks are a large part of this group, and it is like that in real life. The armbands are for us to easily  distinguish between different people and ranks. I don’t see it leading to a lot of MIS-ID as you won’t be allowed to participate in group events unless you have the U.N beret or helmet on. The hat distringuishes your group, not the armband.

As for not being able to get IG until you’ve ranked past cadet; I will be hosting training on a separate server where I will break you into the UN and our regulations. You will be assigned a fireteam and you will practice a little bit. Once I see coordination, you can easily become private. It’s going to be really easy to rank up from Cadet, but I simply want to make sure you understand what you’re getting into.

Regardless, I’ve spent a solid month working on this idea. I won’t have people questioning me and my leadership until you’ve seen me in game. I’ve put a lot of thought into this, because I want it to succeed.

Thanks for your time, I hope I cleared up a few questions.

Well didn't expect this to come up again as a group. I hope this succeeds as I played my character with the W.H.O in the beginning. Best of luck to you!

Seen a few radio threads, and I've got a teeny-tiny suggestion that I am sure you've heard a few times already. But just incase you haven't.

Please don't spell out entire sentences in the NATO phonetic alphabet.

As far as I am aware it has rarely ever been used in that way, and when it has it has primarily been due to radio communication issues, where it is difficult to understand single syllables but easier to make out the phonetic words.

Just some food for thought.

My UN beret has been left in the locker and it's going to stay there ? I did help him a bit with setting this up though.

Where was the UN the last 1.5 years tho? The UN doesn't make sense to come back IMO.

Honestly I really don't see lore faction groups working unless its directly after a lore wipe and is headed by a staff team.

Hopefully this group proves me wrong

Well, if you read the backstory + the lore you'd understand. This group might not be led by a staff member, but I'm on Majors leash. I appreciate the concern, and I hope I live up to your expectations.

I think what @Dan is trying to say is that you guys are gonna have a rough time adjusting in game as there would be a lot of hostilities towards you guys in game because you disappeared for a year and a half, but that can only play out in game so good luck.

The UN was run well by Skinner, but it took an odd turn when they put the wrong people in decision making positions which ultimately led to its demise. I feel like if you actually stick to your goals it'll work out well, but if you try to escape or deny the UN's history in Chernarus you will be in for a rough ride.

I had a pleasant RP session with @Nep today. My brief encounter with a squad of UN peacekeepers at Tisy was also pleasant. Keep up the good work.

So it says under your ranks that Specialists are allowed to use different firearms (SVDs/shotguns) that wouldn’t be available to the (even) lower enlisted. I’m not sure how milsim you are trying to get, but the U.S. Army doesn’t have a special rank for a special weapon. “Specialist” de-facto means nothing more than someone higher than a PFC.

Corporals are really Sergeants in all but name (and pay), which you have correct.

Once again I’m not sure how realistic you want to make this but if the goal is too follow western army/nato organization, weapons are distributed based on organization and not rank.

Unless you mean a M240/249, in which case the newest private is carrying it. Because who else wants to carry a massive machine gun with a full combat load, plus spare barrels and thermal optic?

Nobody, so you give it to the guy who can complain least about it, which means lowest rank. Ask me how I know. ?
