Need new pc parts -- any help?

Recommended Posts

Recki    1

Hello there you roleplaying people!

My PC is unfortunately still on the status of the end of 2010. It runs games like Battlefield 3 and other new games, but mostly not in a good way. FPS Drops and stuff like that happen all the time. DayZ/ArmA is sometimes almost impossible to play. I normally play with like 20 FPS, maybe 30 sometimes, which also depends on Gamemode, Server and stuff like that. In the following I want to post my actual specs and need some help.

RAM: 4GB-Kit A-DATA Value DDR3 U-DIMM 1333

CPU: AMD Athlon II X4 635 Box AM3

MB: ASUS M4A77TD Pro, Sockel AM3, ATX

Graphic: Sapphire HD 5770 1GB GDDR5 PCI-Express

Disk: Samsung SpinPoint F3 500GB, SATA II (HD502HJ)

Cooling: Arctic Alpine64 Pro

Power supply: Enermax Pro87+ 500W

The problem is that I have nearly no idea what stuff I can use together. I would like to stay with as much stuff from above as possible, because I don't have that much money at the moment to buy a whole new pc. Would it be enough to buy a new CPU and a new Graphiccard? Maybe later on an SSD and more RAM? Can I stay with the mainboard? Which CPU and which graphiccard can I put on the mainboard?

Sorry for all the questions, but I would love to play DayZ with more FPS :(

Greetings, have a nice day,

Recki

Thats a good question. I could afford like 500-600 Euro, but I would prefer to pay not more than 400 :/

I would first get new cpu if dayz/arma is what you play most.

CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116504 very good one, you cant go wrong with this cpu. Overclocks well for small overclocks (even with stock cooler i achieved 4.1 ghz without any trouble) Will boost your arma performance quite alot.

Motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131837 Good mother board for the prize. you can do sli and crossfire with this board (3 way max, but i would not recomend 3 way, 2 way sli or crossfire is the optimal). Has good variety of connections sufficient enough of fan headers and usb hubs, sata 3 and 2 ports and also does overclock quite nicely.

memory: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148544 Good price, 8 gigs is prey much what you need for gaming (more than enough) it is 1600 ghz and cas 9 so not bad and does come in 2x4gb kit for dual channel wich is good. YOu can later get same kit for 16 gb of memory if you ever are going to need it.

GPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150609 7850 is prey good card for your money, granted you wont be running crysis 3 at 1080p with full settings but it is more than enought to run most game at 1080p and medium to high settings. (some games you can even max out). What is good with amd cards is also you get ALOT of free games included. In this for example farcry 3 blood dragon, bioshock infinite, tomraider.

IF you want to throw bit more money get this card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150606 it is bit better than 7850, and also comes with crysis 3 and the games that come with 7850.

All in all price is 592$ wich is around 460 euros. 632$ if you get 7870 wich makes it 490 e. Browse around your local shops for these parts.

Also if you can link me your local shops website and i will find parts for you from there.

Hey mate,

thank you really much for your answer. If I would buy the things you listed there, would they all fit together? I mean, does the CPU fits on the motherboard and the GPU too? My current Motherboard for example is only for AMD Processors :P

Gonna check all that things out.

My current PC I bought at http://www.hardwareversand.de/ , but I don't know if you understand a bit of german :D

Found the stuff myself:

CPU:

http://www.hardwareversand.de/Sockel+1155/56296/Intel+Core+i5-3570K+Box%2C+LGA1155.article

GPU: http://www.hardwareversand.de/2048+MB/57633/XFX+DD+RADEON+7850+860M+2GB+D5+2x+mDP+HDMI+2x+DVI.article

Motherboard:

http://www.hardwareversand.de/DDR3/60079/ASUS+P8Z77-V+LK%2C+Sockel+1155%2C+ATX%2C+DDR3.article

Did not find the right Memory, but this one:

Yes they defintly should fit (i have the same board and cpu so i can prety much guarantee they work.

also do not get that memory. first of all it is single dimm, wich doesnt gieve you hte benefits of dual channel.Second it is 1333ghz memory kit. Try to find 1600ghz kit. I would get this instead: http://www.hardwareversand.de/1600+Low+Voltage/48850/8GB-Kit+Corsair+Vengeance+Low+Profile+schwarz+PC3-12800U+CL9.article

Also if you were looking for ssd get this one: http://www.hardwareversand.de/Solid-State-Disk/67795/Samsung+SSD+840+120GB+SATA+6Gb+s.article

Samsung ssd's are currently the best ssd's you can get realy. 120 gb should be enough for os and some programs and arma 2. Keep rest of the gmes and programs in your old hdd.

Man that is like 40 e cheaper than in finland.

Jukki pretty much listed my exact system to you.

i5-3570k, 8GB RAM, with the XFX Radeon HD 7850, and a similar mobo.

I highly recommend this build. You'll definitely be getting some decent bang for your buck. I don't think you'd be disappointed.

With how much FPS do you play DayZRP?

With how much FPS do you play DayZRP?

With a few of my graphical settings turned down just a bit I usually get about 50-60 FPS outside of cities, but inside cities it'll drop down to around 45. It doesn't usually drop much lower than that, though.

Yes. Atleast 680.

[upgrade your processor to something like 3770k]

That'd be a bit of an overkill for what his budget is, bright one.

I would suggest getting a GTX 660 Ti if you can cram it into your budget. I mean, it's superior to the HD 7850 without costing so much - you don't have to though.

If possible, I'd go with a 7870 instead of the 7850 anyway.

My buddy & I have the same PC but he's got an 5870 and I have a 5850, he gets like 20 more FPS.

I don't know about the newer generation cards but 20 FPS is a lot.

7850 is absolutely fine for playing games at medium-high settings at 1080 resolution, and has a very good price. If you want more you're going to have to spend a lot more for cards like 660Ti and up.

Indeed, but I'd say that the GTX 660 Ti and an i5 3570k with Intel's close-loop watercooler is the ideal setup for ARMA 2 & 3. Granted you overclock the i5 3570k to about 4.5 Ghz, you can easily get up to 70 FPS in arma 3.

Of course that's way above your budget & I'm just rambling on. ;-)

Well WaltteriH was suggesting those to me. And there is no real budget for my settings. I simply used this thread so there wouldn't be a new thread everytime someone asks about PC parts.
