DayzRP = gone?

Recommended Posts

Well I see the server is officially dead almost 24/7 now, disappointing because I would have thought the rules would have brought back so many people but then again people still complain even if the dayzrp staff team listen to them and adapt so that the server is more appealing. Idk why but it actually triggers me that the server is dead lmao, there could be so much fun but here I am writing this rofl. I know I'm venting but I just wanted to put my opinion out there. The staff have helped us, and yet people still don't get in game like bruh.

ps, get in game pls?

at this rate i'm beginning to think 0.63 won't even help this community stay alive.

Its crowd mentality, im not going to lie i have it too. There is no point logging in if no one is there, and that is how everyone thinks. So unless 20+ people decide to come back at the same time the population will stay low ?

Most peeps are waiting for 0.63. Besides the waiters we also have people whose school/uni year just started and are occupied by that. September has always been a bit low population wise but with the game dying it has reached a new low. Fingers crossed that 0.63 is gonna hit soon

Yeah I've never seen the population this low for the year? I've been around in this community. tbh with even tho it's September and people are getting into uni and doing that stuff, I don't think it changes anything because people can still play after hours, you're right it probably doesn't help however.

Yeah I must admit I have the same mentality, however there could be something done about it like organizing something even tho the last couple events have failed miserably. I can actually see the community dying at this rate, like not to piss any staff members off but genuinely it's getting stupid now.  I hope to god 0.63 brings people back.

I feel the exact same way. But the revised rules or adaptive methods followed by the staff are not enough by themselves. If we look at other successful mods and communities of DayZ (not just Standalone communities, but especially the mods) it is clear that their success is the result of public recognition stemming from media exposure. The original vanilla DayZ Mod was made famous by YouTubers like Frankie, and large gaming communities like the CCG gained popularity by utilizing the same means. As a proof of this, you can take the fact that as soon as CCG stopped their active involvement in media/social media, their numbers have also dwindled rapidly even though they do not enforce strict vetting/whitelisting processes at all - which means sustained media exposure is the key. We do not even have to go that far back to remember that back in DayZRP's days of glory; we had multiple YouTubers and streamers heavily involved with the community. They were not here due to the popularity of DayZRP; it was the other way around. I know most people would disagree with this right off the bat, but if you actually take the time to investigate the issue rather than just sitting there and feeling sorry about the situation, you can see that the evidence is there.

Player base will always change, some people will leave because they do not approve of the reason X, some will leave simply because they are bored. The main idea should not be to focus on keeping the existing players interested or to re-attract the estranged ones - it should be to maintain a proven way of receiving a constant flow of new players. I remember the days when the number of whitelist applications at any given time were so many that new staff members had to be hired and even then it would take a minimum of a week or so to have your application evaluated. With the Arma 2 DayZRP Mod and Desolation restored (as a better alternative to the good old Epoch), there is no reason why we should not go back to those days. There is a whole mass of people out there with the same interests as us. But having kickass servers, mods, events, lore, staff, website and so on counts for absolutely nothing, unless you can reach out to them properly.

  • I think most people left after realising the rules may never ever change. And with that, they may not even look at the forums.
  • Others are busy playing other games and enjoying themselves.
  • Some have got jobs and want to dedicate time to real life.
  • Some are waiting for 0.63.
  • Others are probably thinking the rule change was a little too late.
  • A majority see a dead server and don't want to be that one person that is there for hours with not one soul joining.

People will always find something to bitch about and blame for the way the server is.  When they get proven wrong though they back track and say "the change came to late" or "No this is the problem".  The people who wined got their way and got the rules changed.  Low and behold even though they got their way, they never get in game and find something else to blame and bitch about.  People are putting FAR to much faith in 0.63.  The over hyping and reliance on that update to "fix things", and this whole "blaming" mentality is whats going to kill off the community when it turns out 0.63 is not all it is cracked up to be.

Except it's not backtracking. The rules were changed when the server was already dead. A rule change won't solve anything when most of the community has already left. Many, myself included, just have very little free time nowadays with work and school. The last thing I'm going to do is play a server with no population.

I mean I still found time to play on the server, write stuff for the server, and helped pushed the lore forward all while holding down a job, along with going to college during both day and night, had fun with IRL friends, and got a full nights sleep at the end of the day.  There is always time as long as you wanna make time.

That's all well and good for you, but I'm not going to specifically make time out of my day to play a server with low/no population.

You can't force people to play a game they don't enjoy for the benefit of making the server active. That's not how it works.

Now where did I say anything that sounded like I wanted to force people to play anywhere in that response?  I stated that I still made time to play despite my life away from a computer.  I also stated that anyone can make time to play if they wanted to make time?  With the amount of play time both me and you have we are perfect examples of being able to make time to play.  Both me and you are practically no lives with how much we played.  Why are you putting words in my mouth?

You literally wrote, "I did this, I did that, I did this but had to work" etc, as Syoto said, good for you. But the concept of what I wrote is the same. Still can't force people. No matter how much time, work, blood, sweat or tears you have done. That won't change other peoples minds. You say I have time to play, however I work, I enjoy playing other games. And other people will be like this too. Roleplay is stale because it was the same shit happening time and time again. It wasn't about infection lore as you keep trying to state (since you 'specialised' in that area).

It's the fact that hostilities were nil apart from the same group. People got salty. People were more concerned over gear or silly little mistakes. And in the end, people were like "fuck this". The rules put people off and in the end, some left from it. People wanted robberies. People wanted unnecessary torture. Why? To further development. But rules such as meta game were in place but you had to METAGAME peoples colours. It was a lose lose and sadly, a lot just couldn't be fucked with that anymore.

You can't say you did all that, and that should be a reason people get in game. Or because you did all that, and you dedicated your time to that, that they should do the same. If they want to play a different game, let them. If they want to play DayZRP, that's fine too. Unfortunately you cannot change peoples minds. And that's the reality of it. ?

I mean, I would love to play DayzRP again, as it's still my preferred server over other communities, but I, like many others, go where the population goes. I'm just not the kind of person who will willingly play a server with no population anymore, in the hopes that I will inspire others to play. I've done enough of that on various A3 life communites, namely Arma.Network, and it never worked.

First of all, thank you for recognizing the awesomeness of my infection lore and calling me a specialist in that field.  :trolle:

Secondly, I listed the "I did this" stuff as a example to show that, yes even though I am busy I still make time on the server to play and have fun.  You really need to stop putting words in my mouth and actually read what I have typed.  Besides I think that personally when it comes to suggestions on how to fix the server and what is wrong with it, We should not listen to people who have not played in over a month, could not even get on the server for their own event, and play on a different DayZ role play community.  That is just my opinion though, but what do i know.

Fair dues. Shady, but fair dues. I haven't played in a month. I can openly admit that. Again, I enjoy playing other games. And maybe some people should read the event page before accusing me of not turning up to my own event when I said to do it independently. Have a nice day ?

DayZ-RP has gone through times like these before and we always came back. People said the community was dead after mod, they said it was dead when we switched to SA, they said it was dead after all those people got themselves banned. This time is no different. I've seen the population dip like this before during the time I have been here. A LOT of people quit when the rules were changed previously. A LOT of people quit because the game is just in a poor state and we are tired of playing a game that has no end goal. There is only so much you can do with a game where the only thing to do is spawn, gear up, go to Tisy, then die. We need base building, we need vehicles, we need a new map, maybe we even need a new perma-death rule so we people actually are forced to drive the lore forward. If no one dies, then the story is just stuck in an endless, boring loop. The game needs more mechanics so we can drive towards a goal.

DayZ is like FiveM RP right now, after you grind for the nice and expensive car or house, or rob everyone what else is there to do? Repeat the same thing. That needs to change and hopefully it will change soon.

I Agree with this completely and that's why I'm behind the idea of "DayzWorld" perhaps the arma 2 and arma 3 servers will give us that extra variety we need in DayzRP and I think we should all try and show our support for this project.

That's what the lore wipe did. It brought variety. But over time because we lost those group dynamics because UN, VDV, and CDF dissolved. the variety diminished.
