At what point have I defended any of them?  Never.  I'm the one telling Thumper to chill the [email protected]!# out, having him tell others that they went too far, apologizing to Keira for what was done.  Don't assume you know my motivation, cause you don't.  I'm telling you their reasoning for whatever it's worth.

But the point is, flaming people is a douche move, no matter who is doing it.  And points get handed out all the time for it.  Except it seems, when permabanned players are the target.  I don't care what your opinion is of any of the players.  I don't care what you think about me.  For some reason, I still think I like some in this community.  I try to post things that I think need to be given consideration, and I think that pointing out then things aren't done consistently is part of any community members responsibility.

Take it for what it is...comments from some chick in West Virginia who can sleep well at night whether you care or not.

Honestly, we've let a few things go. We aren't doing that anymore. I've looked back over a few posts here as well as some of the other staff. If things are point worthy, we can't let it go anymore. Things are spiraling and it can't anymore.

 

I don't want to point people out of this community, but I'd really rather everyone just be level headed and discuss things like adults. +1 to you kat for setting a good example of it so far. I'd give you beanz but the cupboard is empty.

The first line of your thread says "DayZRP will not recover" and the title is "dayzRP is dead", so yeah, if you're wondering where I got the idea that this thread was created just to bitch about that then there you go. Also as that is the topic I would say that what I have said so far has been pretty on topic.

 

Now if you want an actual solution here is one, time. We need to wait and see. For all we know this could be the point where DayZRP becomes more like how it was back in mod. Or, this could be the beginning of the end, we'll just have to wait and see. I admittedly haven't looked into VineRP too much so I wont make much of a comment on it other than it is different and new, so who knows where it could go?

 

I do hope we see a rise in population when things like Desolation come out. I'm personally really excited and I know a lot of other people are. It could end up like all the other side projects or it could thrive. We dont know, so why dont we wait a month (hopefully sooner) or two for it to come out and then we can truly get a grasp of what the community has become.

I'm going to put this out there to everyone after a very wise young Mod kicked me in the ass for not thinking of it sooner. If anyone wants to have a chat tonight on TS, I'll gladly be there. Probably going to be sitting there anyways, so we might as well all enjoy each others company as well.

 

Just keep the thread clean and productive is all I ask. Going after each other and those that chose their way out is not going to help anyone. The offer is there, I should be home and online after approximately 4 PM EST, 20:00 server time. Can't promise I won't be busy, but send a message if you want.

That being said, lets get back to this thread.

If it had VOIP I might consider playing it, but I'm not gonna pull over so a cop can pull over and type "Pull over". I don't buy for a second that Jim would be happy with those banned playing there either.

I have a suggestion I'll be writing up in the coming days for something that may put a little more faith back in, as well as help "rebuild" as you all are calling it.

From my understanding it does have VOIP. And the VOIP is pretty good. That is if they are using the mod I'm thinking of.

Move to VineRP. Players permabanned on DayzRP are NOT permabanned on VineRP. This would save the roleplay community. Not just save it from to the nonsense of the last 48 hours or so, but also save the community from the slow atrophy of a dying game (Dayz itself is a problem ) by providing a new role-play venue with actual new group opportunities, actual new role play opportunities and actual new characters.

I think this thread has already run it's course tbh.

1. DayZRP will recover and will be just fine, even with the current state of DayZ.

2. The fresh RP start in VineRP is intended for people who are interested in GTA and role play, which is something that very few people here will like. People here are mostly interested in DayZ and role play. Therefore moving there makes no sense as these are completely two different RP styles and niches. You want to go there, that's great. But DayZRP will stay online and work will continue here on DayZ.

3. People who have created the offensive threads will not be allowed on VineRP, period. Previously banned players will be given a new chance to prove themselves there. Once we do lore wipe on DayZRP you will have the new groups, characters and role play opportunities that you desire.

I agree this has turned into another What We Can Do thread with some actually discussing VineRP (good on you guys)

2. Yeah I never really saw GTA as a good RP game, never tried it tho so I can't say for sure.

3. That's understandable, I don't think any of the people who created those threads are bad people by any means regardless of what they said as I believe that the main reason they did those things was simply to get banned, so being offensive was only a means to their end, but it still doesn't justify what they did. 

3.1. Nice to see other permed players have a chance to try it out if they want

3.2. That seems nice I guess

Nothing else really to say in this thread I'd say, besides the VOIP, seems like that is still being discussed unless I missed something.

 

Also: Nice to see another admin speak up, we really need more of that

The fate of DayzRP is tied to the development of the game whether we like it or not. If the devs get their arses in gear and ever actually finish the game with working vehicles, base building, pets, detailed crafting etc then this place will see an influx of new people joining.

The game has become stale so had a knock-on effect on the site, that and too many immature members of the site who get panties in a twist if someone farts in their direction.

Still some quality people left and i commend them for their effort getting the site to this stage, just hope they maintain patience as eventually things will pick up again imo.

DayZRP wont die as long as Rolando pays his taxes.  In all seriousness, it's going to stay in a lull/comatose state until beta and/or full release which will bring popularity to the game.  As much as I love some of the ones who were banned; they could easily have been replaced if DayZ had numbers and pontetial PR.  At this time though, it's in a lull state; it won't be as it was until so.  Take me back to 5 full servers.

But tldr - DayZRP won't die though I would propose that little could be done for it except for waiting until popularity comes to DayZ.

If you argue that in terms of old mentality - DayZRP is dead and has no chance for recovery with Rolle & team taking this community with a different approach. Its not good, nor bad but different.  

I'd be interested in being convinced otherwise though.  I do think it sucks that yall have almost little control over even the most basic server functions.

Keep in mind, it's not just the community, DayZ is struggling as a whole and a lot of commentators are getting pissy about it. Once the development team kicks it into high gear and makes DayZ a legitimate game again, I believe a lot more people will be playing DayZRP.

There are people in the past who have done things way way worse than most of the people in the last 48 hours, there is honestly no good reason to exclude those in the past 48 hours from the fresh start except maybe some serious salt or butthurt, just saying.  Again complete lack of any consistency whatsoever has seem to become the norm rather than the exception around here.

2. I'm sure individuals are more than capable of deciding for themselves if they're interested. Also, no one suggested that DayzRP should go offline.

3. The lore wipe will have no effect. Even before recent events. Same type of groups, same type of characters, same type of goals. It's not a problem of the rp'ers or DayzRP. Just that the game itself is stale for many experienced rp'ers. But pre-banning people from VineRP, or whatever alternative to Dayz, ensures that the community won't recover and rp won't evolve in a new direction.

You say you're happy with 10 community members, Rolle. Well I don't share that opinion and I doubt very much that I'm in the minority.

In the end, it's your Dayz thingy, so you're well within your right to let it die. But it seems selfish to me. And motivated primarily by a reluctance to swallow your own pride.

No. No they don't. If Post wasn't gone he could provide the actual statistics as he recorded them, they're around here some where, deep in the forums, as he posted them once. TLDR or to lazy to search through everything version, this community fails to retain new players as the process is to strenuous, if a player is found guilty in a report they tend not to come back for a long time or not come back at all.

Dead? No. In a coma?  Maybe.

That saying has been thrown around for a long ass time and its time to stop. People seem to have this mindset that if the servers become empty DayzRP will be gone forever and that is not the case at all.

Who is to say that Rolle can't relaunch the community when Standalone gets into a more roleplay friendly state? If playercount ever gets that low ofcourse. I find it strange that people are willing to take a perm instead of just disconnecting themself from the community and come back when it's in a better state. That's what most of my friends and I did right after DayzRP went all out on SA.

The actual game just didn't appeal that much anymore, of course we tried to come back to it every now and then only to realize that the Roleplay had become lackluster. Now I have a personal opinion on how that happend and it's simply because of the huge influx of players that SA brought to the servers.

You see, back in the mod days the RP standard had slowly built up from 2012 and was set. And because new players didn't register too rapidly they would slowly adapt to the RP standard, get bored or simply get crushed by the banhammer. When DayzRP went all in on SA most/some old players refrained from playing because the game wasn't that appealing to them thus forcing new players to set the standard.

Of course there is a lot of factors playing into this and I really do believe that if Rolle had kept the mod servers up for longer old players would eventually fall back once everyone realized that the development of SA was gonna take longer than first thought. 

Now I know a lot of people left because they were unhappy with the rules or how things were being run around here and I cannot comment on that as I have been inactive for a very long time, but people need to realize that the tools are just not here yet. Back in the day Admins could spectate players ingame which definetly increased the efficiency of rule enforcing.

 

So yeah... This is just my 2 cents on the whole Dayzrp is dead thing. Is there a chance that dayzrp actually will die? Yeah, and if that happends before modding and admin tools are available I believe there is a strong chance of it being revived. SA has a huge playerbase just waiting for the right patch to come out and one can see that by the amount of players coming back once a new patch gets released.


Oh and lastly, if anyone ever gets the urge to suicide-perm yourself because the rules/staff is being unfair or the game gets stale you could try and talk it out with an admin(s) on TS instead of raging on the forums as talking it out will make both parties more reflective and it will be easier to get points across. Or secondly just take a year long break or something  like that.
