Stefanie was working a modeling job for a local Chenarus clothing store when it happened. She was waiting at a bus stop in Zelenegorsk that would take her to Krasnostov to take a flight out of the country when an infected woman ran out from an alleyway, tackling a man right beside her biting into his throat. Stefanie fell to the ground in shock, and seconds later more infected came running out from the same corner, grabbing people around her. She saw a small girl pushed to the ground and torn apart. Stefanie was in complete shock, she couldn't move or speak. A large man grabbed Stefanie by the arms and dragged her back behind a building and ran back to the bus stop to try and help. Stefanie sat on the ground starring at her hands that were stained with a combination of blood from the man that was first attacked, and the little girl. She dared a look around the corner, only to see the large man that helped her fighting off one of the infected, trying to reason with the infected man before being bit in the neck and taken to the ground. An infected woman lunged around the corner at Stefanie. Stefanie quickly sprang backwards in panic, pleading with the woman in broken Chernorussian to leave her be. The infected woman completely ignored her pleading, and tackled Stefanie to the ground. Stefanie could barley keep the woman from biting into her throat, all she could do was struggle, and scream. With the sound of a gunshot, the complete rage on the woman's face quickly faded and she went limp.

A CDF Soldier grabbled the infected woman by the collar of her now blood-stained jacked and tossed her aside. Gunshots now filled the streets, with the sound of bodies falling to the concrete following them. The CDF soldier that shot the infected woman helped Stefanie up, and motioned for her to follow, handing her his combat knife in the process. Stefanie grasped the handle of the knife, shaking uncontrollably. The soldier led Stefanie into the street where other soldiers were fighting infected which had grew from a handful to a horde. The soldier stopped and began firing and beckoned Stefanie into a Ural truck. In the truck were others like Stefanie, helpless and afraid. A small boy sat weeping the corner alone, while a young couple sat shaking uncontrollably. Stefanie got in the truck and soon after 5 soldiers rushed into the truck and the truck drove north to the Northwest airbase. Things were okay for Stefanie for awhile, moving from refugee camp to refugee camp. But the CDF couldn't stop it, no one could stop it, and when the final camp was overrun, Stefanie ran. She's been running everyday since.

Its been 2 years since that day at the bus stop. Stefanie hasn't said a single word since she saw that little girl ripped apart in front of her. All she can do now is survive, and look for something to live for.

All she can do now is stay Quiet.

Section I - Elecktro

Stefaine stood crouched by the doorway to the balcony she was hiding on. The men still haven't left the apartment building she had taken shelter in, they continue to walk up and down the stairs, weapons drawn. All she could do now is stay hidden, her knife that the soldier gave her at the ready to take down anyone or thing that came out onto her balcony. These men have been firing their rifles constantly for the past hour, Strefanie hoped it was just at infected and they were good people, but she wasn't going to take that chance. She waited in complete silence, motionless as the men all came down the stairs at once and left the building and eventually Eleckro. Stefanie looked over the railing of the balcony cautiously and when the coast was clear, she made her way down. Stefanie put her knife delicately back into her jacket pocket, a tattered riders jacket she found. She checked that her hair was still tightly wound up in a bun. She had since the outbreak cut her hair short and kept it in a bun. She stayed low, darting from building to building, expertly skirting around infected. Military checkpoints and barricades scattered the streets, as well as their former occupants. But one thing was out of place, bodies that were not there previously. A family of three, a middle-aged man and woman and what looked like a small girl lay on the ground, the mans body sprawled out on top of the other two making a protective shield. Their bodies riddled with bullets, this was why the men were shooting.

Strefanie quickly looked away, she couldn't bare looking at them, she continued north to the hospital. Just outside the broken glass of the front of the hospital was an infected man. Strefanie skirted around it as she usually does, but as she was stepping through the broken windows, she touched a shattered piece of glass making a distinct *Crack*. The infected man spun around violently, and ran at Strefanie. Stefanie quickly positioned herself perpendicular to the large window, standing in the middle with broken shards of glass pointing towards her back. As the man came closer and lunged at Stefanie, she stepped aside and the man ran into the shards of glass on the window seal, impaling him from his head to his torso. He went limp and with the sound of cracking glass he fell to the ground.

Strefanie, smiling confidetly, glanced down at the man and continued into the hospital. Of course nothing was left besides the bodies of patients and doctors alike, but it was worth a shot Stefanie thought. She countinued north out of Elecktro, past the dam. She stopped at buildings along the way, she found an old WW1 Red 9 pistol and about 30 bullets. She turned the antique around in her hand, inspecting it. She loaded 10 bullets individually into what she assumed was the right place, and gave the charging handle a pull with a satisfying click. She put the pistol behind her back halfway into her jeans hidden by her jacket and continued.

She passed through Mogolevka to Guglovo. She was taking a drink from a water pump, looking around attentively like a deer at a pond, when she heard "Uh, hi there." She spun around and pulled her Red 9 from her back in one swift motion, and was met with a man in a raincoat and a baseball cap. He had short brown hair and brown eyes, he was brandishing what looked like an old FAL with no magazine. The man made no hostile actions towards Stefanie. Stefanie slowly lowered her weapon, and cocking one of her eyebrows up as if saying "What do you want." The man intruduced himself as William Rommel, and motioned at Stefanie to do the same. Stefanie pointed at her mouth and shook her head. "A mute huh? Well that must be convienent, espicially now" said William. Stefanie shrugged lightly, still tense and scanning around for more people. William shrugged aswell and said, "Look I'm heading up to novy, going together only benefits us both." Stefanie looked at William and to his FAL worryingly, William noticed this and said "Oh this?" Pulling back the charging handle he said "Empty see?" Stefanie untensed slightly, and nodded. "What can I call you then?" William asked. Stefanie thought for a moment, and then put one finger perpendicular with her mouth, the universals "Shh" gesture. "Hmm...Quiet?" Stefanie shrugged and nodded.

"Quiet it is then"

Section II - The German Man

Stefanie counted the few bullets she had for her newly acquired hunting rifle. Three, she loaded each one delicately into the chamber and returned the bolt forward. Her and William over the past couple of days had traveled through Novy and were currently in Gorka scavenging and they were heading to Berezino hospital for medical supplies. William rose from the stump he was sitting on and said, "Ready to head out?" Stefanie rose and slung her rifle on her back, and nodded and the two headed down the road towards Berezino.

As they were entering the hospital, they heard a faint scream in the distance. They looked down the road to the military checkpoint and saw a slightly chubby man running towards them, wielding a butchers knife, and behind him were about 20 infected. William drew his Glock 19, and Stefanie climbed some scaffold on one of the hospitals walls and aimed her rifle. She was debating whether or not to use the few precious bullets she had when the chubby man was grabbed by an infected. Without thinking, Stefanie aimed her rifle at the head of the infected and fired. There was a small explosion of blood and brains, and the chubby man with a shocked expression on his face froze for a second, and continued running towards them. Stefanie pulled back the bolt, the ejected casing falling to the dirt bellow. The infected had drawn to close to use her rifle anymore, she jumped down and drew her knife. William began firing, with each shot a thud of an infected dropping followed. The man was in front of William now and the two stood their ground. Stefanie followed a concrete wall parallel to the street William and the men were fighting on and crawled under an opening in the wall.

One of the infected lunged at her, Stefanie side stepped and pinned the infected against the wall and quickly jammed her knife into its skull. William and the man were fighting about 5 meters from Stefanie, the horde was right in front of her unaware. She took one in a strangle hold and stabbed it in the skull, and repeated this 7 times until the last of the horde was dead. Stefanie cleaned her almost completely blood stained knife with a rag and approached William and the man. The Chubby man excitedly approached Stefanie, he spoke in a thick German accent, "Thank you thank you miss! If you had not shot that one on me I would be dead! I am in your debt!" He offered his hand to shake. Stefanie inspected it and shook his hand. "Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Klaus Shtuple." He motioned to Stefanie to do the same. William chimed in "I'm William and this is Quiet, she's mute." Stefanie put on a half smile and made a shh gesture. "Oh! Well its nice to meet you Quiet and William. Do mind if I tag along with you two? You both seem like nice people." William glanced at Stefanie and Stefanie shrugged and nodded.

"Sure. Now, lets get moving."

Section III - Cloaked in Silence

Stefanie slowly emerged from the folds of the tree she was hiding in. Scanning back and forth the dark forest for any movement besides William peaking out of the tree he was in. Stefanie and William were on a run to Myshkino tents for ammunition for their newly established camp. Klaus stayed behind at their camp to keep watch. Stefanie pulled out her rifle, a hunting rifle she had affectionately named "Not so Quiet." She scanned the tents, seeing only infected soldiers wandering around. William pulled his rifle as well, he had recently replaced his FAL with an AK-74. He pointed at the camp and looked at Stefanie. Stefanie nodded and the two made their way down the forested hillside into the valley the tents were in. Stefanie looked briefly at the starry night sky, and then returning her gaze towards the camp. The two had reached the tree line and the tents were 50 meters in front of them. They both stayed low and crossed the field quickly.

They paused when they reached the outer walls of the base. William drew his Glock 19 and Stefanie drew her combat knife. The two slowly entered the camp, infected soldiers wander unaware not 3 meters from them. William turned the corner to the first row of tents and was surprised to see a FAL laying in front of the tent closest to him fully kitted with a magazine and optics. William looked around confused, expecting the owner to show up for the rifle. No one showed, and William inched forward to grab the rifle. As he was picking it up, a man wearing full military gear appeared from a tent further down the row. William sprang backwards back around the corner where Stefanie was waiting, the man noticed the movement and raised his weapon towards the corner and moved toward it cautiously. When the man reached the corner he whipped around it pointing his weapon back and forth looking for Stefanie and William. Little did he know that the duo had already reached the tree line and were on their way back to camp.

William and Stefanie walked for about 10 minutes before they reached Zelenogorsk. They came in on the south part of town, quickly checking the small military base but finding nothing of use. The were moving up the main road when Stefanie saw it. The same bus stop where it all started. Stefanie froze, staring blankly at the bus stop.

She suddenly was the man standing next to Stefanie that day at the bus stop. He was looking at his phone about to call his wife when he was suddenly tackled. The man was panicked and confused at the same time. The last thing he saw was the face of an enraged woman before she bit into his neck.

Then she saw through eyes of the little girl at the bus stop. The little girl was holding the hand of both her middle aged mother and father. She looked over at Stefanie and thought she was pretty. Then she saw the man next to Stefanie get tackled by a woman. Then suddenly she was pushed to the ground and the screams of her, her mother and her father followed.

Stefanie's perspective switched to a CDF soldier jumping out the back of a Ural. He hit the pavement and moved around the side of the truck and aimed his AK-74 at a stumbling man moving towards him. He yelled at the man to stop. The man lunged at him, and the soldier put two rounds into the man's head. The soldier, Dimitri, had never shot someone before. Dimitri looked down at the man he shot grimly. He saw a middle aged couple at a bus stop screaming as they were being surrounded by sick people. Dimitri motioned to Pasha, his teammate, to follow. The two ran up to the bus stop and began taking down sick people and Dimitri grabbed the woman by the arm and Pasha grabbed the man and they escorted them to the Ural. After the woman was on the Ural, Dimitri heard the scream of a woman nearby. Dimitri moved towards the sound of the screams and found Stefanie tackled to the ground by a sick woman. Dimitri shot the sick woman and helped Stefanie up, handing her his knife.

Stefanie's eyes shot open, the faint echo of her scream resonating in the night. She saw a dark sky that was scattered with stars. She sat up and realized she was in the middle of the street. William was next to her relieved she woke up. "Quiet we gotta go! You're screaming attracted them!" Stefanie looked down the street to see a horde of infected running right towards her.

Section IV - Haven

William grabbed Stefanie by the arm and pulled her up. "Come on!" William began running down the street opposite the horde. Stefanie following close behind, trying to focus on William and following him and not what she had just saw. As they reached an intersection on the road they were running down, another smaller horde came around the corner. William stopped, looking around frantically. He then pointed to an alleyway behind a Police station and yelled "There! There! Quick!" Stefanie ran into the alleyway with William close behind. An infected man stumbled out from an intersecting alleyway and lunged at Stefanie. Stefanie, without thinking, swiped the man's legs with a swift kick and then gave the fallen man a hard kick in the head. Infected were on either end of the alleyway now, the alleyway that the infected man came out of was a dead end. William kicked down the backdoor of the police station and motioned for Stefanie. William ran straight through to the front door and waited for Stefanie. Stefanie was close behind William, and before she joined him at the door, a weapon rack caught her eye. A CZ Scorpion lay untouched with 3 magazines in the weapon rack. Stefanie quickly grabbed the weapon and the magazines and joined William. Infected entered the back of the police station, William kicked the front door down, not even checking if it was open, then Stefanie and William quickly ran out of the door and up the street north to the school, their home, Haven.

William reached the outer walls of the school, broken and falling but still holding in all but a few places. Stefanie followed close behind William, and the two entered the compound. William yelled "Artium! Kevin! Klaus! Horde incoming!" He pulled out his FAL, the same one he stole from the camp. He pulled back the charging handle and released it with a satisfying *ching*. He and Stefanie entered the courtyard of the school, they were surrounded by school buildings and barb wire littered with bodies. The only way they could come in was the archway in the front which Stefanie, with her newly found Scorpion, and William with his FAL made their stand. Artium, a mysterious man from Ukraine, came out a side door in the archway and aimed his AK-74 at the archway, standing in line with William and Stefanie. Kevin, yet another mysterious man, came out the same door behind Artium, wielding a baseball bat that had nails spiked through the top. And finally Klaus with his M4 joined the firing line and stood ready.  And then a horde of over 30 swarmed through the Archway.

Section V - Wicked Butterfly

Stefanie pulled back what she hoped was the charging handle of her scorpion and fired fully automatic into the crowd of infected. Stefanie had never fired an automatic weapon before, the recoil caused her to lose control of the weapon and most of the bullets hit the concrete ceiling of the archway. William fired in short bursts, usually more than one infected went down with each bullet. Artium fired in longer bursts, firing in full auto at times. Klaus fired completely semi-automatic, his shots accurate and precise. Stefanie flipped the fire selector and began firing in semi-automatic. She aimed at an infected man with a missing arm right in front of her. With the crosshairs of her scorpion on its head, she fired and it fell backwards to the ground. The firing line managed to take down half of the horde before it reached them. The five fell back and drew knifes and axes. Stefanie quickly ran back and grabbed a makeshift spear she had been working on. The spear was a sharp bone from a fallen deer tied to a long stick. She hadn't had the chance to test out the spear but her knife would not work in this situation. Everyone was fighting off the last fifteen or so infected at a makeshift barricade of trash and broken vehicles in the courtyard. Stefanie saw Artium bring his heavy fire axe onto the head of an infected woman, crushing her. Stefanie spotted 3 infected that were flanking the barricade. She aimed her spear forward towards closest infected and charged towards it. She gritted her teeth and drove the spear upwards through its neck and into its head. Blood rained out of the wound all over Stefanie. Stefanie gave the spear a hard tug and surprisingly the spear came out almost as easily as it went in. The infected man fell to the ground with a thud, which caused the other two infected in front of him to turn around towards Stefanie. They lunged towards her. Stefanie jabbed one of the infected with the butt of her spear, causing it to fall to the ground. Taking this opportunity, she impaled the still standing infected in the neck. She quickly removed her spear from its neck, spun it around in her hands, and slammed it down into the infected on the ground's head, breaking her spear in two in the process.

Stefanie, almost completely out of breath, looked up slowly at her companions. The last of the horde had been finished off, they all stared at her, shocked at how efficiently she had fought 3 on her own. "Well, remind me never to hit on you" Klaus said grinning. The others all laughed and Stefanie couldn't help but to let a little grin show on her face. The grin quickly disappeared when she looked around at the courtyard littered with bodies. This once happy place where young kids would come to learn basic arithmetic and reading has become a fortress. It had obviously been used for a similar purpose before them. Barbed wire littered with bodies lined openings in the buildings, spent casings of various calibers decorated the courtyard.

The lush green of her crops she had been growing in the center of the courtyard had a distinct contrast to the blood-stained walls. It was turning dusk and the sun had finally gone behind the tall buildings surrounding the courtyard. Stefanie tossed the half of her spear that had broken off and made her way to a side door at the archway, stepping over bodies of the infected. Klaus and William said in almost unison "Night Quiet." She made a peace sign behind her and walked upstairs to her "room." Her "room" was just a classroom full of overturned desks and chairs. She had made a makeshift bed on a long desk with an old sheet she found in town. Not very comfortable but it was the best she could do for now. She propped her rifle up against the table, gently brushing off the engraving "Not so Quiet." She laid down on her bed and closed her eyes. She thought of what she saw at the bus stop. She wondered if the CDF soldier that saved her had survived. And also wondered how to make a new damn spear.
