.60 Error Message

Question

Samaritan    343

I get the following message when trying to start up DayZ,

"ERROR: Device Error: cant set resolution"

Then:

"The instruction at 0x00000000000DE7836 referenced memory at 0x000000000000000. The memory could not be written.

Click on OK to terminate the program"

Any help would be appreciated.

Did a little bit of researching for you this is one solution that i have found so far.

go to C:\Users\yourname\Documents\DayZ\DayZ.cfg

and change “Windowed=0;” to “Windowed=1;”

Edit: Do you have windows 7?

-snip-

Found a link with some bugfixes

Here

Hard to say what is wrong when i haven't had the issue myself but i would try a few of these out and let us know.

Seems the most common one for .60 is people don't have Directx 11.1 installed

Edit: Did you have an Launch parameters set for new UI or anything in .59?

Nope, no launch parameters were set.

Changing the Windowed = 1 seems to have worked. So I'll have to play it in windowed mode for it to work.

I know you can play now but I can't help but wonder that there should be a better solution.

Theres a couple of things I might think that are affecting this so these things I would like to know.

1. What is your screens resolution?

2. What graphics card do you have?

3. Did you try to update the drivers of said graphics card?

4. If you have tried updating your graphics card, Have you tried using the beta drivers?

5. Do you run any particular programs to boost performance?

If I have an answer to all of these questions than I'll try to see if I can figure out the root of the problem but Im guessing its either 1 , 3 or 4.
