Where is the LiF hype?

Hi guys,

we used to have about 30 Players online in LiF a month ago while having the DDoS problem. All of the sudden everyone stopped playing,

because people got frustrated of the permanent downtimes of our LiF server, what is understandable. But what I do not understand is,

that the LiF server is stable again, you only lose connection when the server restarts for 2 minutes ( that's what everyone was waiting for a month

ago) and noone seems to be interested anymore. People I was talking to were complaining that we have only 5-8 players online and that they will

join the server again, when there will be more people on the server, but what you guys do not realise is that most people think that way and we will

never have more than 8 players. Where are the "Freeman," "Order of Romulus," "Swine Pits," "Norsemen," "Prefugium," "The French?"

I do not want the LiF community to be archived. I hope at least a few people will read this message and maybe join back in LiF at least for one or two

hours a day.

I gave the game a try, wasn't really feeling it. I think the hype migrated over to Arma 3 exile.

I'm still hyped for lif. I have a moderately functioning town. Just kinda want people to stop by soon. Hell we're even gunna try making an open air inn soon. See if that bumps things up.

As for everyone else, they have the same reaction I do to the population of the server. There's barely anyone online, so I'm not going online. If members of the major groups decided to actually play again, I think we could get 20-30 people online again.

An event would be nice and I would be sure to attend.

yes, but we can not make a mini event if the people do not care about lif and prefer waiting until the project gets archived

You know - if they will know that at the specific time people will be online that could bring them back. And if they'll enjoy their stay then maybe they'll play more. On the other hand I understand what you mean. After getting ~170 votes in the wipe poll one could think that at least players that voted "no" will start playing :

I still love the game, I just think people got discouraged because of the server issues. Kinda disappointing to play a game for about 20 minutes only to be able to play it for another 20 minutes 3 hours later. There are some settlements that have completely lost their claims and such as well.

I play on lif I like it more then dayz of late I think I burned my self out of dayz hehe but since there was a server issue's I'm Shure the lif community could help the other town's get back on there my self as a farmer can donate some starter crop's and help with animal taming and such

I'd say the main focus is on Arma 3 right now, which is fair because it was planned and discussed before LiF got mentioned. Plus I don't think the server issues helped

As for claims, very easy for groups to take those back because I doubt they have been taken. Bit of respect for the owners there going around. As for the server instability, last I hear it is very stable compared to how it used to be and a lot was achieved before everyone dropped off.

Exactly. Compared to the days when you had to spam to login for only 2 minutes to clean shit from the stables so the animals won't die, the situation now is amazing. I haven't experienced any server downtimes.

3 simultaneous side projects, in a small community doesn't really make sense IMO.

Arma 3 hype right now, so the other ones will surely die down.

An event might get some people on for that events time, but that's probably it.

i have been watching YouTube videos and my hype for the game has gone up at first i was like what do i do but after making friends on random sever i have all the best things and i am making my own town soon and i know how to do a lot of things now some things that i still have to get my head around but i am getting there.

You just have to put a couple of hours into the game  and watch videos. but i would love to come to the event that would be a lot of fun. and also i would to the sever full form time to time because i am playing on another role play sever and it is a lot of fun over there wars and kings and queens it is a lot of fun. and remember Life is feudal.

Why is people hyped for Exile? I played Exile.. You spawn in with a orange jumpsuit.. As some kind of prisoner on his last leg. Dropped down on a normal re-posted Arma 3 map where you pick between 4-6 already highly camped locations. If your killed while Unarmed.. People lose there Score or rep or standing with the NPC vendors. Which i find pointless as the NPC vendor have nothing that you can't loot yourself or steal. Everytime you kill someone that actually has a weapon. Meaning his Bambi Buff is gone the moment he equips a weapon.. The shooter gets a bunch of score flashing up confirming the kill. Meaning it turns very quickly in to KOS shot everything on sight cause i got a gun and i am bored. As zombies not gona post any threat tho they are reskined Civilans straight out of arma and all they mostly do is try running away from you.

The version Frankie been playing on is a MIX of a multitude of mods and is highly scripted from start as well as invite only based by the the Devs and owners.

I don't know if this Exile is our own version or what the plan actually is.. Anyone feel free to enlighten me if i am wrong.. But if were just putting up a normal Exile mod server.. Then why the hype? As i played on a multitude of Exile servers without any real promise of something greater.. I see a tone of Posts on forums and websites about how exile will have Anomalies and things from the Stalker games.. As well as a high variation of Mutants or zombies or what they now plan.. As well as faction based war and base building.. Still as far as i know this is something that is far off on the horizont on the way of being implemented..

Anyone feel free to correct me..

It is an issue of spreading ourselves too thin.

Arma 3 has way more hype than LIF for the main reason, that we are an Arma based community not a medieval rp one.

I wouldn't exactly agree with people playing too much.  Viegerfell has been active this entire time and they still have so much to go, and our settlement has been relatively active this entire time as well and we still have plenty of spunk left in us.  I think the issue was more that when the LiF hype was there the DDoS happened and people couldn't play for longer than 20 minutes without being disappointed because the server just went down and it was going to stay down for hours.  LiF was actively full before the DDoS and ever since we can barely get 10 people on the server.

Now that the server has started to become stable, all the people that were hyped now have no monuments and most of people's stuff in those settlements have been taken by others.  That wouldn't exactly bring up my motivation, if you ask me.  Being one of the two (maybe 3?) active settlements left on the server, it might be a good time for a wipe if people are interested.  If it brings back people to the server and people would actually be interested in playing the game, I would gladly sacrifice my settlement for server population.

Unfortunately I don't think a wipe would fix the issue. Whether they rejoin with stuff stolen or start again from scratch, they will have to start again. At least with the server as it is, they have buildings and such to work with.

Yes, but would you rather start again with people leagues ahead of you or would you rather start again with everyone on equal footing?  That's the point of a wipe.

It's nothing like base Exile mod, it will be completely made by the devs we have with a mixture of different mods. I am pretty sure they even talked about changing it to where they can make certain players spawn in with whatever they want, I believe even Rolle brought up a point saying he may bring back "Player skins", and you can spawn in with whatever uniform you want if you paid a small fee for it. It will have zombies, and be soley RP based, and still having all the same rules as SA.

The reason people are excited for it is because they are tired of the lies that SA devs constantly post and they're tired of the three year alpha stage.
