Wardrobe despawn timer

I'm considering in putting items in wardrobes to store things alone my usual scavenge route. But I don't know what the despawn timer is on those wardrobes, is it the same as barrels and other persistent storage boxes? And if that's true.. how long is that?

Thanks.

There's evidence online of items lasting over restarts and over 24 hours in wardrobes, but beyond that, I have never tried it myself. Unless it's a secluded house, tucked away in some woods or something, I probably wouldn't store any valuables in one anyway.

I guess we'll find out soon after the maintenance

I don't believe that the wardrobe is not persistent, my best guess is that it stays around 12 hours? But i don't think there is any threads on DayZDB or DayZDataBase, that specify the timing on the wardrobe.

The only thing I was able to find is wardrobes are persistence world containers in 0.59. Same as the fridge.

It is persistent but I could not find a despawn timer.

I literally found a note in a wardrobe that said, "don't look under the bed."

I came back to that same house about 2 days later, but the note wasn't there.

But still: it also made me curious to know how long items stay in wardrobes.

And yeah, I looked under the bed.

I put some stuff in a wardrobe and just a few seconds later the server went down, when I logged back on everything was gone.

Cant say ive tried it. Id imagine it would be same as a fridge.

Best thing to do is go to the middle of nowhere on the map as far away as anyone goes and leave an item then check on it every few hours (just remember not to interact and start the timer all over again ;) )

I just logged onto the server. They were either taken from the wardrobes (which I doubt since they were in secluded places) or they despawned.. Too bad. Bye bye 2 SVDs and fully kitted AKMs

Sorry to hear tactical bear.   From now on I would use trusted storage containers like barrels and tents.

As it seems that there isn't any real solid information on world storage container timers.

But I will keep looking and see if I can find any official information on the timers.

Yeah every time I have tested the containers for their persistence I have had my items disappear, so at this point it doesn't seem like there is much of a reason to use them.

After doing a little research, it appears that wardrobes and fridges are persistant themselves, but the items inside them are not persistant. They are supposed to despawn after one or two hours, or a restart. I can't confirm this as this was not from an official source.

The world containers are still currently being tested and tweaked, so hopefully they will be fully persistant soon.

Well.. I can confirm what Tucker said. It's a shame of those guns but I'm glad I carried the VSS with me and not store it. I'm sure I'll come around with more SVD's... I'm not called Flyboy for nothing :P

I've attempted to store items in the container. I believe we've all come to the conclusion that items are not persistent over restart at the moment. No one seems to have a clear answer, at the moment, on a despawn timer due to the lack of persistance for the wardrobe container.

OP, are you satisfied with the answers given thus far? The thread can always be reopened when the new patch. For now, however, it seems that the answer is that persistence is not set properly for this container.

Yea, you can set this to solved or anything that goes along that way :)

Marking as solved.

I'll keep looking around to see if we can get a definitive timeframe. Regardless of the time, it appears that the items are not persistent over restarts.
