I have been off DayZ for a while but now I have come back and I can no longer find a US based server and attempting to join the Euro servers only results in being told I'm not whitelisted anymore. What happened?

The reasoning is we have implemented a new whitelist system based of a series of questions followed by your backstory. Because you missed the steam sync-up, you will need to go through the whitelist phase I'm afraid.
