Apocalypse Lore - Happenings for November and December 2014

This is one of the many projects that the LoreMaster team has discussed and is currently working on. The objectives of this are to document everything that has happened on our servers since DayZRP Standalone has been launched. Through this we will also showcase many of the groups and events that have changed the RP world to what it is today. And now we are starting from the beginning and will eventually catch up with the current time as we continue working. Obviously as human beings we can not remember all events and group that have happened, which is the reason why this thread is being created, so the community can tell us what have they done in the RP world, what have they changed, what have they influenced, what have they created.

What we are asking from the community is to help us with this, by telling us, in this thread, what do they remember about the groups, events and things that have happened in November and December of 2014.

Post in this thread, what you think has influenced the time period of November and December 2014, what has changed the stories of people, what has changed the lore, and what has influenced many decisions in-game.

All entries need to be in by the 20th of December.

There were three settlements inbetween november and december two of them built by the Northern Free Company (NFC) Located in Staroye and Nadezhdino

the third was built by a single person up in Olsha But i cant remember his name i wanna say something Jenkins

My character and my friends are heavlly built around the settlement of olsha as that is where i found my first group of friends

Nadezhdino and staroye are also one of my favorites cause thats where my friends survived. Groups like StrangelandPub also came from the NFC settlements

To go a bit further into detail, Olsha was the first big settlement that the server had if I remember correctly.  The city hall/tower of Novodmitrovsk had settlers there, but I don't think it lasted long enough to warrant being called a settlement.  I'm not entirely sure what happened to Olsha, though some of the people might be able to give more information on that.  After Olsha fell, Staroye was brought up by the NFC, which I believe some of their members were major figures back in the Olsha settlement.  Staroye didn't last that long though, as it wasn't kept very secret for long.  It was quickly abandoned for a more secretive approach in Nadezhdino, which last at least about a month I believe.

These were the first big, and for at least Olsha and Nadezhdino, as well as the first successes for settlements.  Some of this information may be a bit out of order or time frames may be a bit wonky as I'm only going off of memory here, but I'm sure someone else will correct me wherever I am wrong.

I kind of wish I knew more about what has happened during that time in game. Sadly, I am 2k15er. I disrespected for this.

Because, I wasn't here during that time, doesn't mean I can't find out during that time. So.. Is it okay if I go do some digging and find some stuff out from the forums? I know it is not as genuine as me telling it from my perspective, but I will still provide some lore happenings from that time line.

Well, I kind of hope more people participate in this. Because, knowing what happened from multiple perspectives can be very critical for the lore.

Yes if you do find any information, feel free to post it on this thread and it will be reviewed by the LoreMasters. Any information is welcome especially about this period as DayZRP Standalone has just started and things are just starting off and developing.

The NFC group page has some details on what happened at the time, If you want I can write up some more detailed stuff as I have some time right now.

If you do have any information you can write it up in detail, as everything is welcome and will be reviewed.

So, as it turns out a lot of radio chatter during December of 2014 had people telling others that they are safe, willing to help and where to avoid.

http://www.dayzrp.com/t-121-9-Medical-Hotline

This is a medical message through the frequency 121.9. A member of the Red cross is still alive and providing medical assistance to those that need it. Two other members of the Red cross are alive and make contact with Karl Knapp. This communication is vital importance for those that need treatment for wounds and injuries of all kinds. In this one broadcast many make contact with Medical Assistant of the Red Cross. According to the messages shared it shows that Mack Burandt another Medical Assistant of the Red Cross has reached out to Karl Knapp in meeting up and working together. As for Magen David Adom he got a reply back from Karl Knapp. Karl told Magen that they should meet. Karl not knowing that Magen is possibly going to die. There might have been a miscommunication or static interrupted Magen not allowing Karl to hear what he actually said. This radio broadcast shows that members of the Red Cross have made contact and are seeking each other's assistance to help others.

http://www.dayzrp.com/t-87-8-Survivors-Broadcast

This is a warning broadcast made through frequency 87.8. The man is warning people of possible Cannibalism early on in the apocalypse. The man's name is Harvey Stoto a member of a group called the Salvatores a group led by a man named Dante Harper. The Salvatores are a group of survivors that are completely neutral, they are just looking for peace, security and happiness in the desolate land of Chernarus. Harvey Stoto is telling everyone that the frequency that they are on is the Salvatores and the Salvatores are here to help. The location of the possible cannibal is  Lesnoy Khrebet a forest near Novy Sobor. Dante the leader of the Salvatores goes on his radio to let one of the responders know that the broadcast made is warning and that they should avoid that area at all costs. He calls the cannibals False Samaritan. He then goes quiet after telling Raul to stay safe.  This is one of the many first groups to be formed out of survivors that are out there trying to help others in need.

This is what I could find. I will do some more searching. :)

Actually I have found more, it's just I am still writing that stuff. Will share soon.

I wasn't quite sure what you wanted but this is what I have:

The Journal Diaries of NFC Ranger Captain E.Reid

This is as far back as I care to start, the true beginning was when I met the Freemen. Without them to show us what we were fighting for I fear we would have strayed from the path as so many others have before us.

We finally made camp amidst the high hills that stretch between the townships of Olsha and Berezhki. The Freemen, whom had recently decided to travel with us for mutual benefit, busied themselves collecting supplies from nearby Turovo and further establishing the camp. I wouldn't say spirits were high but we all knew we stood a better chance together. We had nothing in excess, a few tents to provide a moments respite and a number of spare packs to stow supplies and equipment. One of the girls, Hilde I think, controlled the collective cache more fiercely than any Forces quartermaster I've ever known.

We were just settling in, I had the boys recce the immediate area after a hot meal and a rare chance to dry their boots.

At the time we were more concerned with potential threats than searching for survivors, the fires were low and voices were hushed.

We had good high ground with a fine field of view looking down to the main streets of the three nearby towns. For a place to set-up while we got our bearings, it was the best so far.

Although we couldn't operate as we did before the civilians joined us, their effect on both myself and the men was something we'd needed for a while. It felt good to be able to relax our guard a little and think of something other than our constant fight for survival.

During the initial days it was fairly quiet, there were lone travellers coming through the area now and then but we thought better of approaching them with our new position so close by. We tried to learn what we could, small groups would enter the towns and I'd send pairs of the lads out to see what they could overhear.

'The Volke have a base near here somewhere' Amidst the idle chatter and appeals for the lost this is the line that had the boys racing back from town as soon as they were able. We didn't know who or even what they were but by the sound of it, it wasn't good.

Just as we were discussing our options a shout went up from one of the guys on watch, 'Looks like some big groups 'round Olsha'.

As the others rushed to their packs for their binoculars I looked up at Frost, his eyes seemed dark and heavy as he shook his head, 'Looks like we'll be moving shortly then Capt'n?' - His voice in jest but his face betrayed him.

That was it, the first we knew about being surrounded. A few of the Freemen were later to report back that some kind of community was being founded at Olsha, although from what they'd heard there was a lot of violence and constant power-shifts in leadership. Between that and the rumours of a militaristic and possibly hostile group encamped nearby, somewhere to the North, we were all understandably uneasy.

We pulled ourselves back to the hilltop and dug in. The next few days were overshadowed with a tense atmosphere as we all came to terms with the reality of what was happening. Lookouts watched the distant movement as we made preparations to pull out, at first it would be just myself and some of the men.

It seemed as if hardly a week had passed since we had arrived here but a few of our number had already formed an attachment to the place. Some of the civilians didn't see the cause for concern, we discussed it briefly and I knew there could be a distinct possibility of split opinion.

As yet, we had nothing mapped out for our hasty relocation but we knew all too well that many previous areas may now be compromised. The supply cache had grown considerably under the charge of the Freemen and once cleared with them some of the men volunteered to make deposits at known stash sites. It was then agreed that a forward party would head out to search for possible relocation sites while a number would stay behind with the bulk of the supplies.

News of the goings on in Olsha both streamed into the camp and followed the scouting party as we made our way across country. It was definitely a hive of activity, but from the outside looking in it seemed like a bloody free for all.

We met both refugees of the town and survivors looking for community, we could do nothing other than repeat what we had heard from others and provide travellers with a friendly warning.

Short range radio was all but useless due to intense static covering all bands, I didn't know the source but suspected some sort of jammer, something crude but obviously effective. I had heard other broadcasts but these must have been amplified, probably though utilization of one of the area's many coverage masts.

When we had covered considerable ground I sent runners back to check on the camp periodically.

We were, I think, somewhere around Gorka investigating a distress call when the runners sent out earlier that evening caught up with us. There were reports of poisoned food supplies back at camp and the Freemen believed survivors at Olsha responsible.

I feared some sort of confrontation may happen in our absence.

--------------------------------------

I can continue with this if it's the sort of thing you want.

Was going to comment about the Olsha bit to brush up on it's history, just in case you guys wanted some emphasis on that. I was at the fall of Olsha, and in fact started the "revolution" that ended it with a friend of mine (took quite a bit of flack from that during the time in the forums). Long story short my first character Dr. Deitrich Fritz and his companion commissar Klapo made an inappropriate cannibal joke and we were held at gunpoint and threatened by town police, friend was robbed of his belongings. We felt this was unjust action and started a revolution with other angry settlers, with support from the CDF to become mayor of the town and turn it into a CDF-controlled zone because the current mayor had kicked them out for his personal guard (can't remember who I spoke with in the CDF group). Firefights ensued, mayor and security fled/were killed, Olsha fell and nobody including myself came back to pick up the pieces. Hope that helps, let me know if you have any questions about anything.
