Random Death(s)?

I am a new member here, so this might be posted incorrectly…

Anyways, I was walking from pustoshka to Vybor, enjoying the nice apocalyptic silence and the comfort of my own company. Everything was excellent, I had gotten all the items I needed for long term survival, my weapon was equipped with bipod, sight and camo.

However, between Pustoshka and Vybor, there is a small complex of houses - which of course I decided to explore. But as I entered one building  (keep in mind my only status update is “healthy”, and I am neither hurt nor anything else) my screen went black and it said “you are dead”. I got so mad, then sad

My question is: do random deaths occur? Or can anyone help me explain why I died? There were no gunshots, and besides, people aren't allowed to KOS.  

I also have another simple question: Where are all the zombies? Haven't seen one single since i joined...

This game is in alpha so yeah, random deaths do occur, quite frequently to be honest. As for the zombies they are gone this patch so that the performance would "improve".

Welcome to DayZ SA, which means there are many glitches in the game which can kill you. Just something as simple as walking into a building can be on occasion fatal. It is the game. It can be frustrating but you just need to start again.

There are no zombies because the DayZ SA devs removed the zombies until their movement/tracking issues are sorted out, which will hopefully happen in the upcoming .59 patch.

As Andrey said, it is an alpha, random deaths occur all the time and I have been victim to it many times. Most of the time random deaths occur when you are upstairs of a building or trying to climb objects like rocks. The game glitches out and thinks you should still be on the ground floor; therefore, killing you from some sort of fall damage. A good way to avoid dying in these situations is to vault when you reach the top of the stairs or rock.  

To address your second question: Zombie have been temporarily removed in .58. They are making a return soon in .59 and will be in large numbers.

In a situation where you do not know why you died, you can always come to TeamSpeak and get clarification.

In the case you described, it does sound like a glitch.

There is a bug I know of... After running for a long period of time while injured, or being shocked by a stun baton or a defibrillator, your character will get a,"My Chest Hurts..." message. You will then proceed to outright die without any means to avoid it, or go unconscious permanently. When you use CPR or Epinephrine on the person and they wake up, they stand fully up for about 3 seconds before collapsing to the ground, dead.

Might've been your situation while you were away, maybe someone did something to you as a joke and you died from it?

It doesn't sound like a bug I have experienced before, but I almost find it impossible to be a murder as well.

You have a very good chance of dying when running into a house, especially upstairs.  Occasionally the game will desync and if it tries to catch up sometimes it won't be able to find where you are, and it kills the character. (probably a more techie version of that avaliable)

Advice, walk into buildings.  Or vault going up larger flights of stairs (not jumping but the vault step).

It's better to take it slow in dayz.  This can even happen in certain towns where the elevation changes quickly
