Buying Premium to stop being a 'white name'?

Hi,

I've been wondering about if I should get a Donor rank for the last week.

Having a title under your name? Well that's cool.

PM quote? *shrug* don't care.

Not being deleted for inactivity is kinda nice since this is already my third account.

But to sum it up, the worst thing is being a 'white name' if you don't donate, I'd say.

I mean, I'm not a complete newbie in RolePlay in any way. I go to actual real life medieval LARP events and spent quite a few hundred hours on text-based Half Life 2 RP, but still I feel like people underestimate me or my threads because my forum name is white.

Or am I just not deep enough into the community to understand it?

Mind giving me your opinion on this? And yes, I'm talking to you random user reading this thread.

I personally am more than happy to support things that I enjoy; be it a free to play game with paid aspects or a simple community providing a different aspect of a game that I enjoy. I didn't donate for the perks, well... maybe the Hall of Famer blue is my favorite color.. but no, seriously. I enjoy this community a lot and I'm more than happy to support it. It's not about how "deep" you are into the community, its about whether you feel like donating or not.

I'd also like to say, you shouldn't feel "underestimated" because no one should be judging you based off a name color, but this is the internet... It might just be because, based on your joined date, you're new to the community and haven't been around the forums long.

But anyways, don't donate because you feel it will give you "power" on the forums. Donate because you want to support something or enjoy the community. Then it's truly worth it, perks aside.

Whitename is a mindset, it's a form of behaviour more than the color of your username. The shit talking of whitenames is for members who acts generally clueless or dumb and don't tend to show improvement.

Honestly, the term "Whitename" is more so a name for someone who is new to the community, or someone who hasn't quite got the hang of RP yet. Just be a respectful member of the community and you'll be just fine, donate if you want to help the community out. Seeing as how you take part in LARPing, I think you'll be fine in game as well, just don't be an ass and pay attention to the rules, and you'll be golden Ponyboy.

Like everyone else has outlined, being a "whitename" is less of an actual thing, and more of a friendly jab people say to one another. I mean, I've donated to the servers and am now a staff member, but I'm still a whitename for some people because I wasn't here for the mod. Or maybe I'm a whitename because I haven't heard of certain clans from early on in lifetime of the servers. If your only reason for donating is to get rid of that "stigma", then I'm sorry but donating won't do that. It will, however, help out the server! 

Oh! And as far as your your account being deleted for inactivity, that only happens when you are not a donor and you haven't made a post within your first month of activating your account. Since I notice that you have posts on the forums, that won't ever happen. Your account is "secured" because of the posts you have made on this account. So, don't worry about that either! c:

While I never expected to have the HoFer I do admit it does ad a bit of flavor to a tasteless man.....honestly if you want to donate you will do it if you're on the fence about it just don't do it.

I wouldn't worry about it. If you want to build a reputation for yourself, then you can do that regardless. The best way to do so is to exhibit exceptional RP in-game. The second best way is to write exceptional lore stories and radio chatter posts. Obtaining a reputation any other way shouldn't matter as much, unless your goal is to be the nicest you possibly can be and earn a reputation by being a swell guy.

It doesn't matter. Some of my best friends on DayZRP haven't donated and I don't expect them to ever. Money is powerful and can be life-changing, so if you don't want to donate...then don't. A lot of people don't care about "whitenames" and don't participate in the derogatory jabs that comes with it. You should probably gravitate towards these people regardless of your reputation here, as they're usually the most pleasant and friendly people here.

tldr; Don't get worked up over it. Money is yours and you have the decision to do what you want with it. Find nice people on here and make friends. The color of your name is meaningless in the grand scheme of RP. We should be here to tell stories IG and not flaunt our sexiness on the forums. That being said -- If you wanna flaunt then flaunt.
