Teamspeak and new members. ( Community helpers have a look )

Recommended Posts

Hey there folks, and you community helpers in orange!

I had a idea, but it is really up to you if you do find it usefull to use. ( not trying to step on somebody toes here )

Our forums is the homebase for our community, and when a new members introduce himself to the community forums, i think it would be a great thing we keep constantly promoting our TS3 server. This way it is easyer for new members to team up with regular / new members alike, Learn more about the rules / lore / groups from other members and give this gives more welcoming and interaction. Would you agree with me? :)

When you welcome a message on the forums and show them links to the rules and if the have any questions, it might be great to give them the Teamspeak details to join

If you are already doing this, as a member or a community staff ( helper or more ) Great! if not, it might help out. If not, lets reach out and make this place busy! Ofcourse it is up to the new member to take there own initiative but i think taking initiative is also nice

Regards,

Shiro

I entirely agree with this. Teamspeak is a big part of this community, and honestly, it is what binds us all together at the end of the day. Promoting the teamspeak to new members would be a great idea.

I also noticed that there is no longer an option under community to have a direct link to the teamspeak - I believe this should be brought back.

I don't know man. I kinda enjoy the apartheid system we're operating on right now.

Nah, it's fine. People should utilize the newcomers channel more and be encouraged to take part in the community. After all, we are all fellow scum community members.

Every time I post on the introductions and farewell threads, I always make sure to tell them to hop on ts to talk to people and make new friends. I 100% agree with you on the encouraging new players to come on the TS and talk with some community members and meet new people.

I think it's honestly fine the way it is. New members should be able to read the forums themselves if they are dedicated enough to be part of this community and with reading the forums comes the self explanotary that they will read about teamspeak. Putting everything into the welcoming messages on introductions just encourages them to be lazy because we hand them all these details on a golden plate the moment they join this community. They should however be encouraged to find out all this information themselves at least in my opinion.

I disagree with you and i dont think we should be judging people to be lazy, I think by showing a more welcoming additute towards the community we really show them all how we really are. Some of them might be lazy, or not be bothered. Even if the are not busy or like you and me and finding out the teamspeak themself. I still as a new member would appricate it if a community member is saying or member, come on teamspeak! you are most welcome or i will meet you soon.

Don't think right away the worst of people Phoenix ;;)

I think that many new members find their way to ts but yes it is a good idea to to tell them about ts

I am very unsure about the point you are making. Having teamspeak is not essential to join the RP. Linking them the rules and lore is essential so they understand how to correctly play on our servers? If they want to join teamspeak, they can look in the corner and see the icon. There is even a section in the guide on how to join.

If you feel that it's important for them to know about teamspeak, then you can post it to them if you want. It's completely up to you. But the Community Helpers will post what they think is essential for the newcomer to know about.

Peope just need to read and browse the forum. They get told a lot to join ts. I dont see the need to change anything as staff and community members tell newcomer already everything usefull what they have to know.

You can do this. Just dont be offended if people do still not understand your point, if they dont find it "great" or if they still disagree with you.

Ok. You just do not like if people have a different opinion and do not agree with you. I get it. No need to continue then.

Again, i dont understand what you are trying to achieve here, i dont feel personal attacked what so ever. I find the way you typ just a point of trying to bait me to make a point for yourself. Again i am trying to make a suggestion, even if the suggestion is a good suggestion or not. I want to help, and if i want to make a point, i am not making that personal, i want to try to show people the point. But not in a agressive matter or putting a opinion out there. I am trying to make a difference. I just hoped you would support someting like that instead of trying to drive me into a corner and proof right.

I get that and i said i dont agree with suggestion and i dont want you to be offended, yet it is you attacking me for whatever reason. I will stop now. There is no point. Thank you again.

I think a lot of community members already do so, even if they aren't in staff.

Good idea to emphasize the TS and newcomer channel when we can though.

I agree that we should promote TeamSpeak, but in a way we already do Shiro. On almost every Introduction thread, a CH will mention coming to TeamSpeak for help. If the new member didn't know that we had a TS server, they do after reading that. There is a reason we say what we do. However, if we all threw every piece of information at them it could become overwhelming. I will take this suggestion into consideration and maybe mention it a bit more.

Or since you are the one with this suggestion you could start to post in all the Introductions and promote our TeamSpeak.

While I do agree it should be encouraged to mention the TS, it shouldn't be mandatory. People need to learn how to navigate through the forums and find things for themselves as well.
