Able to make communities

Thats what people are already doing. Townfolk had Olsha, The Vigil had polana factory, the colony had hickory hill. People make communities all the time but they fall because badies will get wind of it and act against any communities

Like the aboves have said, feel free to just create one but also be prepared to defend it from those pesky bandits. A good example is the trading outpost at Camp Romashka, that recently closed due to too much banditry (but have moved elsewhere I think), if I remember correctly...

So yeah go ahead, but be prepared to fail.... ;)

As Phoenix said People have made communities in the past. Here's a good example of one that an old group called the 501st created.

Way to forget about Pinewood! I kid I kid...

If you want communities on the server then DO IT. We need more. I always loved the town RP we had up in Pinewood.

The only thing I can recommend is staying as quiet as possible for as long as possible. I think that we can credit this to how Pinewood managed to avoid being raided as often by bandits... or it could be that we were so far north that they couldn't be bothered.

Oh well...

but yeah DO IT. Make your dreams come true!

I've been in and apart of many communities.

I used to be at hickory hill ALL the time back in my early days in RP.

Then I joined The Outpost (Trading Outpost).

Then I followed on with Timmy until the Vigil when we created the settlement called "The Citadel".

All places provided absolutely amazing RP, and events that shaped my character, Bazinov.

However these places no longer exist except Hickory Hill.

Implying you weren't bothered...

;) I'm all for communities, but they need to be willing to handle some downright primitive and sick shit being thrown their way from time to time. Somebody is always going to have a problem with something you do -- It's the privilege of sharing the community with a bunch of Cormac McCarthy and Quentin Tarantino fans. That's how I rationalize banditry, though...

Don't worry though, Tucker. Pinewood will not be forgotten.

It's difficult to set up a proper community, but if you do if, make sure to keep everything IG: don't put anything on the forums at all (radio channel, community presentation ecc.) because people are going to ruin your idea in a matter of days if you do...

I think he meant more random banditry, rather than our old "feud". :P

We did have surprisingly few hostile encounters in the town, though. I guess most bandits just didn't care.

It'd be nice if you didn't attack or mock newcomers who try their best to integrate into the community by posting a valid suggestion. If you don't have anything to add to the suggestion itself, but instead have to resort to cheeky comments about OPs post count, don't post at all.

This happens a lot, there is no reason why you cant do this.

The best way to do this is having people spread the word about the town, in game and on the forums. Also make sure you and some friends who want to do this stay active and online so people don't come all that way for nothing. If people see others handing out in a town the word tends to spread like wildfire.

Just keep in mind that not only will friendly people hear about your town, but bandits will too. You need to be ready for the swarm of hostile groups to come and try to destroy everything you worked to build. How long the town last depends on how active you are and how well you prepare to defend your town.

If this is something you want to try I wish you the best of luck, :)

  • 2 weeks later...

I'm one person with no friends in the community and only been in the servers for almost a week now and I am already trying to start one. I think it's really interesting to talking to people in game about and interact with. Heck I just shoot zombies to keep there area safe and 2 people already wondered what I was doing and caused for some amazing RP.

I would recommend trying it even if it's just hanging out in a town. :D
