New to RP...

I've been watching many RP streams on Twitch and really like trying to RP but its been a bit difficult on the regular servers to really get into it, I'm hoping to have some good RP runs here. Hope meet up with some friendlies here. Anything I should know, please help a new role player out.

Hey mate, welcome to the community I guess some useful tips for you would be first off to start off as a "survivor" type of character, don't try to be a bandit from the beginning, first get a proper hang on the rules and how they affect your ig experience, then try it out if you wish; then I guess an obvious one would be to properly read the rules , read the lore and create your first character in accordance to it.

Yo. Welcome to the community! We do indeed have good quality roleplay here (as long as you stay away from green mountain)

If theres anything i can recommend you it's taking a look at the newcomer guides and taking a peak into the newcomer channel on teamspeak that!s the best way to make friends! Newcomer guides will help you understand rp a bit better and i'd honestly recommend you stay away from bandit rp for at least a month or two until you understand our rules better and meet bandits ingame and learn all the aspects. Hope to meet you ingame sometime !

Welcome to the community! c: I was in the same boat as you while playing on public; trying to role play and getting killed for it, lol. 

Hmm, as far as tips go, I'd say you received quite a few good ones already! 

What I did which worked well for me was trying to play a character as closely to my own personality as humanly possible, and as neutral as possible. This way, it opens you up to all kinds of role play, and really gives you the opportunity to tailor your character as they progress in their own story line. You may find that you start off with a neutral character, but through character development and experiences, they turn into more of a "bandit" or "good guy". Not only that, but it helps to have a character similar to yourself for the ease of role play. Instead of getting so hung up on "what would my character do?" in certain situations, you can just easily say "what would I do?". You'll come to the answer more quickly during the later, and then build yourself up to take on more difficult characters in the future.

The nice thing is that you can change your characters as you see fit. So if you no longer want to play that character and want something new, you can simply just change your in-game name and you're off to the races!

Yeah, so many times I'd get killed during an interaction and hear them say something along the lines of, "I love killing role players". 

Im spending most of today reading guides and different threads here. I will probably drop my whitelist app today, hopefully I'll be accepted, but probably wont be able to play until maybe a week after the upcoming holiday. I will probably join the team speak and spend a good amount of time there before I start a character as well. Thanks!

Here's a protip; Don't equip the best military clothing you can get in the game (Unless ofc you're going as a military dude, but... Not reccomended.), because then some people will try to avoid you.

I most certainly would, after meeting a military dressed guy who ended up KOS'ing two people and I'm certain I only survived because I distracted him then ran off before he had the chance to start shooting.

Try to get an appearance that fits your character, and minimize the amount of things you carry. Running around with mountain backpack and everything just looks uncomfortable and unpractical, you know? Better off going light.

Also, by travelling light, you minimize the chances of being robbed for gear!
