Heralding the Horde... [Open Frequency]

Recommended Posts

*a weak frequency comes to Chernarus from over the Russian border*

"If anyone is out there, and uh, speaks English, this is Nick Buchanan. *static* My group just had a run-in with a massive horde of infected. *static* must be hundreds in that city. *static* Luring them away with a rigged alarm *static* semi-truck, as the rest of my group heads towards our safe house *static* are hearing this, I'm heading closer to you, and now likely *static* and trying to shelter in any places *static* sent several quadcopters I put together with transmitters *static* of contacting anyone that can help, and will be making some more as I go. *static* need any advice I can get right now. There's no way I can get back through all of those infected, so *static* aircraft, I'm stuck. *static* a sword I cold-forged a while back and *static* found a flamethrower in the truck *static* then a canteen, some canned goods, I think some *static* ... I think I'm screwed, but I guess we'll see. Again, I'll take almost any kind of help I *static*"

*further speech is heard for a few seconds but is completely incomprehensible, then begins to fade as the static clears up somewhat*

Leaning against the stone wall outside Bashnya, Jamie slides out his radio and listens to the man. He holds down the transmitter.

I don't know where about you are.. but I haven't seen any undead for a while. I saw one or two in Novo.. dimitosk or something.. Are you outside the border or something?

He lets go of the transmitter, waiting for a response.

*further static disrupts some phrases before suddenly clearing up almost completely*

"... southernmost quadcopter made it over the border, then! Chernarus, was that right? A huge swarm of the infected have been plaguing Russia for a while now, just barely got out of that. It'll take a long while for me to get all the way down there, but from what I've seen the infected are migrating again. I may be wrong but south looks like the way they're headed. Glad to finally make some radio contact, that means I built these damn things right. I'm holding up in a shopping mall until the, uh, locals move on to easier cuisine. Food stores and concrete should last a while, and I rigged the transmitter atop the building so I shouldn't have to go outside to worry about radio. Unless I find a vehicle that can still take me places, I'll be months in foot travel with having to hole up, to get all  the way to Chernarus. I am just hoping to find friends before I get there, to avoid any... Unnecessary incidents. The less trouble I get into, the better. And on that note, how is your week so far?"

Jamie lifts up the radio to his mouth and talks with a calm, soft tone.

I'd stay away if I was you. More good then bad is here.

He grins, and moves the radio closer.

Run while you still can, my friend.

He slides the radio back into his front pocket, getting ready to move.

"I don't know the name svetlojarsk, just that I am in southern Russia. I have three quadcopters out right now, one north and two south, and we're able to talk because of the southernmost one. It's more than a couple of infected, but they're not really a huge concern for me besides blocking my way north."

*Nick holds the button for a sigh to slip through and freezes, his hand gripping the radio as his eyes glaze over*

"Life. Fun. Or both. I forgot how the saying goes... Just a bite, eaten twice, sickly rose, little nose... Oh well. She'll find us eventually."

*he snaps back to reality and releases the button with a curse*

*Logan lays against the backboard of his bed, trying to recover from his most recent injury. It hurt to even breath, his chest feels like its on fire. He pulls out his radio and decides to try to dull out the boredom of having to sit there. Twisting the frequency dial, Logan starts to receive the broadcast from someone named Nick. While he listens, he thinks back to all the Nicks he's ever known. When the chatter goes silent, Logan decides to respond and presses down on the talk button.*

"Well now... That's one story and a half.... I'm surprised that you even found those things, let alone getting them to work. Well, I got time to talk, you got any questions on your mind there Nick?"

*Logan lets go of the talk button and waits for a reply.*

*Jarmo hears the radio broadcast talking about southern Russia and he chuckles to himself. He takes another swig of vodka as he depresses the PTT*

"Well now... What a story! A story that I can agree to. Russia was hell... I left my mark on Sochi. Russia didn't fair well at... all.. Good..."

*As he releases the PTT he says* "Fucking Russians!"

*the static is slightly less of an issue than before but it is back again*

"Yeah, *Nick chuckles* I suppose it is quite the story. *static* feel like trying a flamethrower on infected, don't. A flaming zombie bites AND burns when it gets *static* needs batteries, so I could randomly lose signal *static* contacted my group, they're fine, though the wifey is mad... So, any of you guys have names? And, out of random curiosity, any of you guys ever heard of a card game called Magic: The Gathering? I have a couple of decks that I can't make myself get rid of... *static* ... *you hear him ruffling cards and then some more static* I have a blue control deck and a red-green brute deck. Anyways, I also have some questions regarding terrain around you guys. What would be the best equipment to keep? I mean, I have thick clothes and boots, and a pair of gloves. Is it somewhat warmer down there, or is it just as freezing? *he releases the talk button*

*Charlie hears the man's crackled reply and strains to hear what he's saying. He frowns when he hears the man talking about some card game, "Whatever keeps you going I guess" he murmured before pressing down the transmitter*

Hey there buddy, I'm afraid I won't be broadcasting my name for every Tom, Dick and Harry to hear but I can tell you that the weather down here is significantly better than Russia. I was up there a few months ago and even in summer I was freezing my tits off. So I'd stick with those thick boots of yours -terrain still pretty rugged - and it never hurts to have a layer of warm clothing, but here it rains not snows....So bring your wellies...

*Long pause*

Hope this helps, stay safe and watch out for them Biters....

*With that Charlie put his radio down next to him and dug his fingers into a can on spaghetti in an attempt to scoop up any leftovers*

"Not unreasonable of *static crackles again as soon as he starts to talk* and that's going to be fantastic, as long as I can get some appropriate rain gear. Sounds like hypothermia will be an equal danger for the unwary, *static* a few degrees warmer. Something to look forward to. About as good a thing as it can get, it seems, since the other advice I've been given is to turn around, after having mentioned that a mass of walkers is behind me. It must be pretty bad for *static* so I guess by the anonymity I'm going to need to watch out for banditry. That's *static and radio whistling cuts off most of the rest* so... Any vehicles with any gas down there? Hell, even a cart or coal-fed train, whatever? And how big is the percentage of English-speaking living in Chernarus? ... I speak English, and know tidbits of Japanese, no Russian and no, uh... I forgot the name of the language used in Chernarus... That's all for now..."

*he clicks the button back and then carries his radio in his arm around the mall (he uses an old one, about a cubic foot in size, that he configured to use batteries) as he looks for some wetgear*

*Logan picks his radio up off the counter, trying to stretch without making the pain in his chest worse. He listens to the response, a smile on his face, questions, always easy to answer and will at least keep him busy. Logan leans against the wall and presses down on the talk button.*

"Alright,... uhhh, for vehicles, right now the only things we can truly get working are cargo trucks, and those things just consume gas like crazy. About what language you need to speak, don't worry, the majority speak English or at least know how to... Magic? God damn, I haven't thought about that is forever... Well, whenever you do get here, toss me a deck, I may be terrible, but it's better than nothing. As for gear, a gun for one, *chuckles* an ax probably for firewood, boots definitely, shirt, pants, etc., etc.. But seriously, carry a pack of matches and something to  help the fire get started, because trust me, freezing your ass off out here sucks... But keep asking questions, I need something to keep myself from getting bored around here. Oh, the name's Logan, that's all I'll give yah."

*Logan lets go of the talk button and puts the radio in his jacket pocket. Well, all that was left to do is either clean the damn house, or check around town. He sighs and grabs the broom off the wall, starting the morning routine.*

"Hmm... *Nick rummages through a bin of old gear and finds an oversized raincoat, dropping the radio in the process* Oh shit! ... Oh, hey, no pieces fell off. Lucky *static distorts his voice, though it is still discernible to careful ears* me. So anywho, if I ever meet you, I'll toss you a deck. Communication will be easy-peasy for the most part then, so I'll get to hear lots of fancy ways to curse and *the radio pops and his voice comes through clearly* threaten, I'm sure. That'll be fun. Nice to talk to ya, Logan. I'd say starting fires will not be too hard, as long as I can get tinder, I should be good. More questions, let's see... Got friends? Any family? Not to push any buttons, or my luck, but I'll not be seeing mine for a while, and when I do, having a bigger family can't be overrated these days... You seem an upright sort, you're quite helpful, so either you're tricky or trustworthy. Either way, I'd enjoy meeting you, though the latter over the former. *crackling seeps in slowly, then gets worse as he continues* It's starting to snow pretty bad right now, the wind is making the windows creak. I'll be fixing those up in a bit, don't want any breaking *it gets too bad to hear any more of his words and cuts off*"

"Just one. You're still alive, and that's impressive... Mind being a friend to someone who you don't know and who doesn't know you? *static* being nice and being alive at the same time is rare in these times, both valuable qualities. *static* the way, I'm going to be occupied with some walkers that got in before I finished repairs, so forgive me if I don't reply again for a time."

*you hear another gunshot right before he clicks the button again*
