Thoughts of first day on server

Hello all,

As the topic suggests, I would give you my thoughts as to what I saw on my first day on the server.  My character idea I have has frame work but dosn't have much more for him.  I was realy thinking about playing a fat ass American who drank every soda he saw and was constantly asking for chips and candy bars.  That idea is still up in the air though as even if I am new, the in game lore in real time and we are a year into the infection now.  So having to walk every where and candy bars no further then an arms length away, he would be much more fit now.

Any ways, RP character idea dilemma aside, I first spawned in up at Svetlojarsk.  I poked around the town and was checking the tracks getting ready to leave the city, it was night when I met some one.  I only have about 300 hours in standalone but thousands of hours in the mod.  So I had to the fight the urge to run for it.  I was still a fresh spawn with pants a t shirt and a fishing cap at least.  He had some stuff on him.  The RP from my end was realy weak as I tried to grasp the concept that this guy wasn't about to shoot me for shits and giggles.  Then I DCed.  Only thing I kept thinking was "must log back in quickly before he reports me for combat logging."  This DCing I have been experiencing since I upgraded to Windows 10.  Driver in compatibility.  I have been playing other games where this wasn't realy an issue.  But after this happened, I spent the rest of the night, after the RP session at least.  Nuking the hard drive and reinstalling 7.  I was able to log back in and continue the RP but he was just starting to run away.  I did do a //DCed but from what I see on the forums even that much looks like it gets you in trouble.

He was able to point me in the direction of a car with a weapon at it.  Which was realy helpful but a weapon to me was of lower priority as all I had were the 4 pockets to carry any thing.  The city was picked clean of any thing of use so I followed the tracks west.  Found a few more items.  Kept finding damp/wet clothing inside buildings when it hadn't rained since I had logged on.  I hope this is a bug and not me following some one.

I did not go to far west and turned south came upon the NEAF and searched it as well.  Picked clean, but to be expected, RP wise it was good stuff, even if it was just me solo.  From here I went to the city just south west of it along the main road; Krasnostav.  This is where I was finding the wet stuff but was able to get a rain coat, it was a birght red but it had pockets.  Picked up some hunting pants as well, so more pockets.  Still didn't have a backpack.  I continued west to Serverograd.  This was a gold mine for stuff as I was able to hit a police station, a fire station and a hospital.  Blood testing and iv starter kits.  the more important stuff like moraphine and saline wasn't to be found at all.  I had been through a few medical places at this point.

Turning south I eventuly made my way to Novy Sobor.  Had just come into the city and started looting the first building when i heard a female voice out side talking about how to get their next meal.  At this point, I went back north but then turned around and decided to low crawl through the trees around the outskirts to get further south.  Well, eventuly they headed out past the road I was heading too, a whole group of six is what I saw.  So I booked it back north as fast as possible and decided to just keep running, well I got tired of the long run and deicded to just get south so I passed through the town on the east side, just booking it as fast as possible.  This is when I encounted a group of about 10 players.  I mean holy shit! is Novy the hang out place?  So now I'm surrounded, all of them with guns out surrounding me.  So now at this point i'm thinking, well I'm about to be made a few pounds lighter, or heavier which ever was most entertaining to this group.  My RP just sucked at this point.  I couldn't even talk I was like durka durka um, me run, me affraid, me want to leave.  That kind of stuff, just not that stupid.  Intimidated as hell, They started talking about susage and one of the players consistedly talked about wanting to eat me.  I was like well, "looks like I'm about to be a few pounds lighter just not in the way I first thought."

Surprisingly they just let me go.  So, I was gone, south again I went.  I needed water and wasn't going to stop at the water fountain that I had seen in Novy.  Found a improvised backpack at a camp site and was like score.  So now I'm headed to cherno.  I know bad idea, but this is a new guy just following the highways.  I get to bolota and met some one.  Rolled with this guy back up towards Zelogonorsk.  Hit up the military base as passing throught the woods This took a few hours of course.  So he logged out just as we came upong the city.  I went into the city.  Met some one from the UN talking about the French foriegn legion killing some other group up there.  So At that point I was gone, I took the first road I found that was dirt and left the to the north west, came upon a military camp and found some really nice weapons.  Which I didn't pick any up.  AKs SKSs ammo.  And many many many damaged and ruined boots.  I did get some gorka's in acceptable shape.  So I went east from here and it became night at this point.  Was about to loot a house when I saw a light headed my way.  At this point I had been playing 15 hours.  So I didn't have any RP left in me.  So I decided to light a flare for "oh shit factor since I was on the other side of the building from him, only 10 meters away.  Then come to find out, I couldn't figure out how to drop the damn thing, so I just ran for it.  Eventually was able to drop it and it went out 30 seconds later.  I got to the tree line, waited about 10 minutes, then logged out.

So ya, fun times.

Maybe the character is still fat because he pokes through everyone's bags stealing goodies, and trades everything away, including guns, for more food? And only travels a small distance everyday before complaining his feet hurt and he wants a break?

You might want to make a report so that you can get the logs, KOS needs to be combated (not saying it was KOS, just in case). If not that, at least ask a member of staff if they have better advice than me.

Yeah you can file a report and the admins will check the logs and can see if someone killed you. But if you don't remember approximately what time it happened on the server it might be difficult for them to find. Chances are it was probably a bug though. 

Also, don't run away so much! There's good interaction to be had.  Once you have a really fun encounter you'll see what i mean.
