DayZRP Experimental 0.59 Thread!

So I thought I'd make this thread for all those who are currently playing Exp. Update 0.59 instead of Stable, so we can all meet and interact within DayZ experimental without having to do it all alone/struggling to find people to play exp. with. 

Hopefully we could get a channel in the 'Other Games' TS tab if this gets recognised enough, but for now we can talk about who's doing it and what servers we can use etc etc. 

Things to Look Out For

I'm not gonna go through all the shit they've added, but there's interesting stuff you can see in the new patch, that are mostly useful for RP purposes:

Zombie Hordes

Surprisingly, the return of zombies has come in quite the interesting fashion. They move slower, and begin to pick up speed before losing stamina, so herds tend to be shambling messes rather than raging, sprinting hordes. That being said, it's easy to get beaten to unconsciousness and killed, so watch your back.

I'm hoping this will prevent the high amount of killing in the zombie-absent patch we have now, and this could make people work together, as in my own experiences, we've had a group of 6 reduced to a group of 3 because 80 zombies attacked us. On that topic, the zombies are now more powerful in the damage they do, especially in health and shock, and can render you unconscious, even in small groups of 5-6 zombies.

New Enterable Buildings

New enterable buildings are so common in patches these days, its a wonder there is still any UNenterable ones around! The following are now accessible and do indeed spawn loot:

  • Grain Storage building
  • Industrial crafting station
  • Industrial workshop
  • Lumber mill
  • Red brick factory building
  • Rowhouse
  • Wooden shed
  • Yellow church

Proper Radio Contact

Actual, map-spanning radio contact has been discovered in the new experimental patch. This could mean a lot for DayZRP, as I've noticed the conversations had over radio are very, very similar to "Radio Chatter" here on the forums. This could be organised by all parties involved in important RadioRP and could be very beneficial for RP overall.

Engine Merges

Something interesting I've noticed in the new experimental patch is the change in graphics and overall smooth play of the game (despite the desync issues of 75 player servers). It's a lot of small changes, but you can notice a higher definition UI and overall game in many places, with pixel-y textures being less noticeable close up. 

Due to the re-release of projectile explosives, the physics has been improved in that sense, and it won't be long before we get an actual, working and breathing physics engine to rely on (see New Falling Physics on DayZTV)

I've personally had an improvement of 5-10fps overall, and the game's change in definition and graphics makes it look generally prettier, something that i'm sure is a product of Eugen Harton's famed 'Engine Merges' he mentioned on twitter here

I look forward to seeing some of you in DayZ Experimental!

We finally have hordes!

Now dayz will get even more challenging.

Really excited for hordes. Although from what I hear they are far from complete. For example sometimes you can walk into elektro guns blazing and not see any zombies, and in cherno you will get swarmed if you step on a twig. I still haven't gotten around to playing experimental so I guess I'll just have to see for myself. :)

Does anyone know of a time-frame this might be coming out? Will it take as long as the last patch to go to stable. Opinions please?

It'll probably be a while, maybe up to a month? They still have so many issues in the experimental that they need to work on.

They said they will reintroduce the numbers back into 0.59 (i.e the zombies no longer lag you out so they put them back in) and in 0.60 they will overhaul the mechanics and behaviour of zombies to include dynamic 'hordes' in fields like a heli crash style spawn, and also having zombies spawn inside buildings and on roads rather than hiding around like they do currently.

Just imagine it... Walking into elektro and seeing 50 zombies on the road between police station and fire station.. :o

EDIT: For those interested, at the moment the best places for zombie hordes to appear (should you have the balls to take one on), the spawn rate around Stary Sobor is large just like in 0.57, but Elektro, Severograd, Berezino and sometimes Novodmitrovsk, are good places. Cherno in my experience is a bit dead tbh.. Found around 6-10 zombies at the most :(

I've definitely noticed a slight bump in frame-rate and overall movement smoothness, although the natural 75 player desync masks that a bit.

Every wednesday or so hopefully there will be patches and fixes, at the moment theres been 2 experimental patches, the main patch and a hotfix for x64 support (!!!) and some changes to 75 player desync issues.

As much as this next update is going to be awesome (return of zombies), for me, after trying exp... it was HORRIBLE LAG, DESYNC, FPS LOSS. Really really really really really really really really really really bad.

I hated my EXP gameplay experience... worst time ever.

75 players + hundreds of zombies = really bad time :(

The rest is great but lag, desync and fps is all going to take a massive hit if you don't own a super computer.

EDIT: Oh and new enterable buildings, just like the school. NOT OPTIMISED at all! So just looking at them will make you lose FPS.

Probably about a month before stable.

What kind of specs do you have? The new buildings to me are fine, 75 players was desync quite a bit but playing on the 50 player servers I got no lag from zombies, buildings or anything, I saw improvements in my frames, up to 10 or so. 

Might have been just you, I've noticed a small number of individuals have noted bad experiences but the majority didnt have too much issue.

They haven't even implemented vehicles yet, so I suspect that .59 will take a good bit to drop. I suspect it will hit stable closer to Christmas. Still, it has a lot of things I'm really excited for! Going to be a badass patch.
