Are you allowed to play music in game?

Its bothered me because I hear some people playing music and I wanted to know if it was allowed.

If it is allowed What is the cut off date for music that can be played? I.E. 1970, 1975, 1980, 1985, 1990, 1995, 2000, 2005, 2010

Also if it is allowed how would one go about playing it in game?

All I need to know..... For now.

P.S. Just want to leave some sweet music for everyone.

Yeah it is.

1. Make it possible due to lore, like the date it came out

2. Don't make it obnoxiously loud in game

3. Make sure you rp having a cassette player or something in game

4. No trolly music (duh)

Thinks that's it

Firstly, excellent choice of song C:

Secondly, music is allowed to be played in game as long as it fits in with the lore's time frame. (Ie. You wouldn't be able to play a song that came out in 2015)

Also, for the realm of realism, I like hearing older music because it makes sense to hear older music on cassette tapes. It wouldn't much make sense to hear Taylor Swift on a cassette tape in an old, beaten-up V3S.

I've also seen some people play acoustic guitar, or even violins through their microphone and role play that their character is a musician!

LemonPunch already laid out examples nicely, but I hope this helps anyway!

As stated above, its perfectly fine to play music through an IC music player, as long as you aren't walking around blasting the latest hits through an iphone 6+. Make sure it fits the lore and isn't trollish in any way, shape or form. I would also refrain from doing it too much, some people don't want to hear music all the time, so save it for certain occasions.

Like explained above, you may play music if it fits the lore and isn't deemed trolly.

Another thing i'd say is, it's nice to ask the people around you if they're okay with it, because it may disrupt their RP and may be frowned upon. Also make it realistic, either using a truck V3S cassette like Kattica said above, or perhaps using a CD Player, Radio, Guitar etc. I wouldn't randomly just start playing music before emoting "Pulls out CD Player and slots in Lady Gaga disk".

I'll mark this as /solved, and leave you too with some music you may or may not enjoy.

I have seen people play guitar over their mics in RP. Also I have seen a couple people RP they had radios. As long as its not trolly you should be okay, at least that's how I think it works.

I know that some community members have made radio chatter threads and done a little radio show in game. You could roleplay that you're are listening to that in game. Here's an example:

Notice the music he uses is old enough that it would make sense in the lore.

I love radio chatters like that. There should be more where people make a little radio show with music and IC news etc. but not a lot of people want to record their voices or have the effort of merging everything together. I can understand why, but it still would be cool.
