I have been looking at the reports and watching everything and I just wonder why people still go to green mountain is it cause the people that wanna kill people go there and the lack of rp and just constant initiations cause there is a huge lack of good rp up there and now adays I just avoid it cause nothing fun happens up there anymore. I wish people would just expand their horizon.

I've had a couple good visits with Zbor up to GM that have actually led to some nice inter-group RP both on the journey to and while up there.

I do see your point though. GM is a magnet for shit storms, and I rarely roll up there less than 4 or 5 deep.

I think the reason people go there is because it's positioned in a relatively central location on the map, the tower on top of the hill makes it an obvious and easily found land mark. That attracts some amount of people, and people seek out people for trade, theft, socializing etc. That said...

Damn straight. Get al-Takizh, BoS and SDS up in here.

Why you ask? For dank RP of course.

It just lures people with its central location and if you haven't seen any people in a while you just have to check it.

In my opinion there are two reasons why people typically go to Green Mountain.

1. They are new to the community and seeing lots of people in one place and not shooting each other is new to them. There are lots of videos and streams where people on DayZRP will go to Green Mountain (without getting initiated on). Therefore lots of new players might go there who dont understand the rules very well.

2. It is really easy to initiate on people inside the compound. Too often you hear people just shout at everyone inside the compound from the outside to drop their shit. If the gates are open there is only one way in or out. Its like shooting fish in a barrel really.

I wouldn't lose hope though. There are plenty of people who make it a point to never go to Green Mountain. I've only been there once in about 4 to 5 months. If you want to its not very difficult to just pretend the place doesn't even exist! :D

People go there because they know that 9 times out of 10 they will find people, and 9 times out of 10 it will result in an initiation. But they still go there, because they dont think they'll find people anywhere else. Its an endless cycle that hopefully will end once base building becomes a thing.

I agree with Storm on this one, but I also believe that there is so much other places to go than just a giant tower in the middle of the map.

Probably because that's the one spot you're almost guaranteed to find people.

One day, I swear I ran around the entire map, full server. I shit you not, I was like "ok going to green mountain" and sure enough there was a third of the population there lol.

I've always had great RP at GM up until a group shows up. In my experience, as soon as a group shows up they wait around until one member gets "offended" by something that one person says, and then the group escalates it and takes everyone hostage. I can honestly say I've had great RP at GM, but have never had great RP with a group there. Hell, half the time groups are at GM half of the groups people usually sit in corners waiting for a fight to break out and not talking to anybody.

Mainly cuz people, also because of laziness. Talking about myself here.

I mean, there are different playstyles. People can stay on their high horse, and be condescending towards those who stay in the Illuminati triangle (GM, Vybor, NWAF) but at the end of the day it's a videogame, meant for fun. Some people have fun in different, "less desirable" ways.

I've never had a problem with GM. Never robbed or killed there. I have no idea why most people have a problem with GM.

Nothing wrong with the role-play up at Green Mountain. Yes at times you do get the odd encounter and it can be the most unpleasant thing. But the majority of the time some really good Roleplayers go up to Green Mountain and you can get a really good session in game from it.

It's the same reason bugs willingly fly into the bug zapper, why moths are drawn to the flame, truly we are but mere insects perpetually throwing ourselves into harms way for what? Curiosity? Gratification? What sort of masochistic monstrosities have we allowed ourselves to become?!

Nah but seriously, I once went to GM solely because I heard there was hippies living up there that sold some good weed and I wanted to get high. That place is just one oddity after another, probably why it's so alluring.

Chances are that you're going to get killed by some trigger happy bandits that aren't very familiar with the KOS rules. Of course, the place has its cherishable moments, but you can make those anywhere. rather then be a sheep and follow the herd, consider exploring the map a bit more, especially when there're many people online.

If you want to have some potential good RP without walking the risk of dying at GM, you gotta put in the effort to look for it. ;)

There are a lot of reports from GM, this is true. But of all the times that I have been up there, I experienced one Mass Initiation, and have not been robbed or shot at once. The RP can range from Poor to Quite Entertaining too. I have met some great people, and it is an easy place to find for newer players. For all the bad that has been done at Green Mountain, there has been a great deal of good too. As long as someone doesn't try to claim it as theirs. Once that happens people make it a point to do something about that.

Honestly, someone should start a thread separate from the "Whose Roleplaying Did You Enjoy Today" and start a "My Experience at Green Mountain" thread, so people can post their experiences good or bad there, and give it a poll for who experienced what. The problem with reports are that they are negative, they always will be, because they are reporting rule breaks. By seeing them you are only getting a chance to see one-third of the whole picture.

I will warn people away from it, but only in that if they aren't interested in doing hostile RP or taking chances than they should avoid it. But if you don't mind living a little risky and want to give it a chance, you might just meet some new friends or a group up there. Hell the Chernarus Post was there alot because that is where I always ended up delivering messages and letters.
