New change to whitelist system (1 Nov 2015)

Hello, community.

The admin team has been reviewing the new whitelist system that was implemented near the end of August. Several members within the community have noticed a trend when it comes to new players finding themselves in the report section very early on in their DayZRP careers. After deliberation within the admin team, we have decided to make the following changes to whitelists and report punishments.

Please be aware the whitelist system is always a work in progress, and as such will be adjusted when changes are deemed necessary. The change is not only to ensure new players will become more familiar with the rules, but will also protect all members who follow the rules themselves. The whitelist being revoked will be added in addition to any additional in game bans, so if a player rewhitelists before their ban expires, they will still serve the remainder of their in game ban.

Starting today (1 November 2015), any verdicts in which a new player is found guilty with a punishment of five days or more will result in their whitelist being revoked.

To clarify these points further, please read the following.

Who will this rule change apply to?

  • Players who have had their whitelist approved within the last 30 days.

What rule breaks can result in a ban of five (or more) days?

  • These are covered in standard punishments, which includes but is not limited to:
  • Trolling
  • Lying in a report
  • Kill on sight (KOS)
  • Bad RP
  • Aggravated punishments which also result in a ban of five days or more.

I have a question. When their whitelist gets revoked does the strike system get wiped as well?

For example: bob failed his application twice and got accepted the third time, then he got in to a report and got his whitelist revoked, does bob only have one chance to try again or three?

Yes, it will still count as being one of their five potential chances to get whitelisted.

If a player is granted an appeal to gain a sixth chance to get whitelisted, but is later found guilty in a report for something like bad RP or KOS (i.e. the 5+ day punishments) within their first month, they will be removed from the community.

Sounds reasonable and fair i like it. thanks for answering my question aswell.

No offense against new players, but I am happy with this new '' rule ''. See a lot of rule breakers that are new to DayZRP.

I approve of this, that first month should be a learning experience for newer members.

I'm a new player and I think this a fair and appropriate way of dealing with a lot of the problems in the reports.

I find this a very good implementation.

Although it might become a bit more of a hassle to maintain for the GM's and Admins, to double check whitelist status and registration dates.

Great idea.

I really like this. The 30 days, as Bruce said, should be a learning experience. I've seen newcomers make so many easy mistakes in my first year here. Making them reapply may very well reinforce the appropriate mindset required for this community. Here's to hoping it works!

I've failed the whitelisting test 3 times so far :(. Every time I've only missed 1 or two questions, all the answers were basically the same but worded differently.

You can always ask the staff for guidance if you are struggling with the whitelist. PM a community helper or get yourself on the DayZRP TeamSpeak and join the helpdesk.

I really like the idea of this rule. I've been on some other RP servers with friends who weren't quite suited for the community and they always broke a rule or messed up somehow or another. I think a decent percent of the time, if a new member is going to get in trouble, it won't take them very long to do so.

This sounds like it has a lot of potential to help solve that issue and I hope it's working out so far.

Ps. Still working on my whitelist story, sorry I haven't been very active. Crazy life in the real world sometimes! Plus waiting for .59 and my new rig. Poor framerate and RP doesn't mix well! Still can't wait to come join the fun.

Seems very fair and reasonable to me. As a fresh whitelister I've taken the conscious decision to not dive straight onto the servers. Instead I'm spending a lot of time reading the forums to get a better understanding of what's expected from a dayzrp citizen. In so doing, I've realised that there are a great many things to take into consideration that are not apparent at first blush to the uninitiated. Although my first instinct was to dive straight in, I'm so glad I've taken this approach instead, as I'm sure (after much reading around) that I'd of made a complete mess of things and spoilt others enjoyment - which is not what I'm here for!

I'm almost tempted to make a suggestion that new whitelisters should have to wait 30 days before they're allowed on as standard.

Hello, community.

I have spent my days watching dayz streams and DayzRP, in total i have a few months worth of knowledge surrounding the dayz/dayzrp experience. with that being said i have been on the look out for a calm and peaceful environment where i could really enjoy the lore/reason of dayz.

Recently i found this server and for weeks studied the Q&A with rules and lore finding that i couldn't want anything better then the DAYZRP community.

so i applied and am awaiting the review report. if its approved it would really be awesome. ether way the DayzRp staff on ts i love em forever for there patients and support.

You guys Rock.

yours sincerely
