DayZSA Server Banning assistence.

Hi, I enjoy playing on DayZRP and am looking for advice from a friendly staff member. I own a DayZ server of my own that I play on. There are some people who've been breaking rules on my server but for some reason logging in as an admin and doing the command #exec ban 4039234(Steamguid) doesn't work. I am unsure of how to add people to the ban.txt config file. Can anyone with any knowledge of this assist me or send me links to any helpful content? I'm having trouble finding anything to help me.
