Does anyone else get this error?

Probably the most annoying thing I've encountered playing DayZ and it isn't even part of the game. Every. Single. Time. I close DayZ this error pops up. I have no idea what it means. Does this happen to anyone else?

Yes happens to me, every time. I also have no idea what it means. I close it and pretend it didn't happen.

Edit: I found other threads that sorta match our problems, with fixes you could try if it bothers you too much.

Since I only get the message on closing it down, no crashes, I can't be asked to try the fixes, but if you try them and they work, let me know :P

Same problem here. I honestly stopped caring. It isn't game breaking, since it only happens on close. Not a big issue, just annoying to hear the windows pop up sound.

Got it aswell but I don't really care as long as it doesn't mess with my ingame performance.

Have you tried out the guides Weedy linked you, Claristic?

I had that plenty of times, part of the uniqueness of DayZ :)

I'll try these out but some of them I've already done >.<

I guess it's not that big a deal but it still bothers me that I can't close my game without it getting the error. I might just reinstall and see if it stops.

This gentleman explains it best (third poster)

This is what is known as a null pointer exception. Basically - there is something wrong with the game code. The game tries to operate on some object that doesn't exist (i.e. a null). In C/C++ and most other languages, a null is a pointer to memory location 0, which generally doesn't exist and is always outside your typical program.

So, the game tries to access something at the 15th byte of an object that does not exist, that's the memory location 0x00...0014. The memory is outside the game's memory area. The OS sees this access violation, kills DayZ to protect the memory and spits out that error message.

Did you try reinstalling your game? It fixed it for me ;)

I have this to! Although I doesn't bother me that much as it's only when I quit the game! But yeah I will take a look at this and see if I can help!

Its been happening to me for ages. For some reason when you close the game, it thinks that it has crashed. Theres nothing you can do to fix it, but it should be fixed next patch.

I have the same error ever since the new patch. I dont think theres much you can do, until the next patch hopefully

Folks, Simple fix is to do the following!

Open steam --> Right Click on Dayz --> Left Click on Properties --> Find ''Set Launch Options'' --> Type in: -maxmem=4096 and click OK --> Restart steam, and the problem should be fixed.

Remember to not go above your computers maximum memory, if you do this fix will be for nothing. If you have 4gb RAM or more just copy what i wrote, you won't be needing more for DayZ ever.

-maxmem=1024

-maxmem=2048

-maxmem=3072

-maxmem=4096

It might happen when you close dayz, but that does not matter. Crash logs should delete automaticly.

This fix is for memory crashes happening while playing.

I have yet to find a fix for it when you close The Game.

Chow's suggestion might work, but this is a common bug with this patch and will not affect your game. Hopefully the devs get this sorted in the next patch.

I can try this and see if it works. I'm doing an uninstall tonight after I'm done playing though. If all else fails, waiting for the next patch for them to fix this issue is the only hope :(

Does this issue decrease your framerate or cause any other performance issues?

If not, I personally wouldn't go through the trouble of reinstalling. There is a good chance that even after reinstall it will still happen.  Pretty much everyone I've spoken to has this same issue, but as far is I know it doesn't hurt performance or affect your PC.

Here's a little update.

Got the memory error that I showed before WHILE PLAYING (before it was only when i closed DayZ) and flipped the truck I was in. Almost died. Thanks DayZ.

I get the error whenever I close the game, sometimes it just straight up crash my game down in the middle of rp. or my game will just stall and hang there with 0fps before I can move again. happened to me in a firefight, thank god the server crashed before I died :3
