Hey guys,

I just want to put this lore that my friend and I put together. Took large amounts of effort and would love feed back.

P.s   I just want to through out our objectives of our group and this is a WIP.

http://www.dayzrp.com/t-Zombie-Apocalypse-Service-W-I-P-Recruiting

  • Protect our brothers and ensure their survival by any means necessary
  • Find any and all civilians with survival expertise and get them to pass the "initiation" to join our ranks
  • Recruit Medical Personnel
  • Remove any known "Bandit" threats that provoke our group
  • Establish a safe-zone with some trade routes
  • Attempt to establish a radio connection across Chernarus and begin relaying important information

Some of the members of the Zombie Apocalypse Service (ZAS) were once former British SAS trained operatives. These ex-operatives decided to form their own organisation (Task Force 141) due to the recent virus outbreak in Chernarus. Our objective and reason for coming to Chernarus was to establish covert reconnaissance over the recent virus outbreak in the small and widely unknown country (that had already received so much media attention in such a short amount of time) but this was highly classified information meant to be kept secret from the country due to the risk of an international outcry. The unofficial military organisation currently known as Task Force 141 had the full backing of the British government, undoubtedly Britain had already deployed it's best and brightest to understand more about the virus but they needed all the help they could possibly get and there was no way in hell they were going to turn free help down.

Secondly, our operatives were tasked with helping the current 22nd SAS regiment in escorting the DPM (deputy prime minister) Nick Clegg through the war-torn country to negotiate with the Chernarussian Government about possible aid Britain was willing to provide. This was portrayed by the media as our official reason for being in the country, it was believed that this would satisfy the International community and avoid any conflict over Britain unlawfully moving it's special forces into the country which could be interpreted as an act of war.

As soon as we arrived we began surveillance of the surrounding area, confident we could discover what the virus was. However, we quickly learned that this was a virus oddly different and far more complex to all others known to the world of modern medicine. The people who became infected with this virus would die within a few short days, it varied depending on how the virus was transferred, and then the dead would quickly come back to life. They would begin attacking anything in their vicinity spreading the virus as a consequence of this. Only since the black death, century's ago, had there been such a high fatality rate and we realised that there was no way to contain this outbreak. We had planned to hastily withdraw from the country but it was already too late. Britain of course prioritised, and rescued the SAS operatives leaving Task Force 141 to die. We had been betrayed by the country we swore to help, left to fend for ourselves but despite this we knew we had to keep true to our word. The information we had gathered could save billions of lives.

On October 25th the World began putting a national quarantine into effect on Chernarus' borders there was no way in or out from now on, our Task Force operatives were unable to leave the country and quickly relayed as much information about the virus as we possibly could back to Britain in an attempt to save it. A few days after this the east coast of South Zagoria turned into the home of thousands of desperate refugees. People began turning on each other, looting and killing as the first bandit groups start to emerge among the refugees. Every city, village and town is now rife with the infection and the number of the infected grow every day.

Over the coming weeks we suffered severe casualties as time slowly rolls past and hope for rescue and even survival grows slimmer and slimmer by the hour. Our surviving men who weren’t torn apart by the infected began to brake down both mentally and physically. Some even began suffering from severe PTSD (Post-traumatic stress disorder). This led to some of the men becoming “emotionally distant” and highly aggressive as they began to feel the terrible effects of the illness that they could hardly cope with. Then some of our operatives began changing and becoming like the very monsters that now hunted us, they turned to violence and desperate acts of savagery in order to survive. Many had horrific nightmares and flashbacks and this increased their  very violent manner and  explosive tempers. However, there were some who despite their trauma would not idly stand by and watch men who once had morales... who once had pride and honour turn to such barbaric and disgusting acts like robbing the innocent people who we once protected. People who trusted us to save them from these monsters, to save them from this nightmare and we failed them.

This lead to a huge conflict within our very ranks and sooner or later there was a division between us. There were those who still believed in restoring peace and order by establishing a system of justice, and there were those who believed that there was no hope left for us. There was no going back to the old way and that we had to steal from and kill others in order to guarantee our own survival. Tensions between us all rose to a boiling point, and it was not long before we started turning to killing each other due to the dividing opinions.

This became the beginning of the end for Task Force 141, those who stuck by their former brothers in arms and decided to retain their humanity and loyalty chose to join us and called themselves the Zombie Apocalypse Squad. At first it was a joke among them but the name quickly stuck. However, the other operatives not so sympathetic in their newly formed ways decided to try to kill any who stood against them and opposed their new “order”. It turned into an all out bloody war against those we thought we could trust. Those who once fought beside us and not against us.

We lost many good men and it was not just the bullets that killed them. Those less fortunate, and not immune, who were susceptible to the virus quickly turned and came back just as barbaric and brutal as the men who had forgotten their loyalty, but we realised they weren't the real problem. The real problem was our operatives who had turned against us. We knew that they had to be destroyed as they were a threat to our brothers survival and the surviving local population's safety.

Some of our men were unable to kill their former brothers in arms and lay down their weapons refusing to fight but there were two who still stood. Their names were Mason Lyall and Connor King. Although Mason was not the best fighter, the strongest or most daring of people he knew what it was to be weak and this made him a good leader. Despite all his bad qualities, he was the most loyal and most courageous of all the men. His loyal friend Connor on the other hand was one of the best operatives we had, but even he had his weaknesses. They all do.

Suddenly, Mason moved in front of the men. He stood before them and he shouted, “Brothers! Is this the way you imagined the end? You would rather take the cowardly release of death over your ending your own comrades suffering?! You know the few weeks we've been in this hell-hole of a land have made me realise something, the most important thing in life is family. That's what we are now, me and you we're all that's left. I mean come on just look around you. In this new world you don't have to be the best or even the brightest to survive. You need loyalty, trust and brotherhood! We are all brothers today, we are all one and the same, we have all suffered. You have a choice. You can either sit there while your brothers die and suffer for you, or you can stand and fight alongside us! Fight for your right to live, fight for your brothers who now surround you and fight for your humanity!”

The battlefield seemed to have grown eerily quiet, the silence was almost deafening. Around us lay the many bodies of the fallen, and next to them sat the men who had survived. To Mason's great surprise one by one the men picked up their guns and came over to stand beside him and Connor. The men raised their guns in the air and shouted, “We are with you brothers!”From that day forth we banded together, we vowed to always protect and defend our brothers and to do whatever it would take to keep each other aliveMason and Connor were chosen to lead us, they would keep us fighting for a new and better age where justice and order could be restored. The men began calling themselves the Zombie Apocalypse Service (ZAS) as a sort of joke but the name quickly stuck.

"Be strong enough to stand alone, be yourself enough to stand apart but be wise enough to stand together when the time comes"

Problems I see immediately are quite large and rather decimate your lore...

Why form an un official task force when you can simply deploy the regulars? The SAS is never fully deployed as a regiment, especially not for protection. It deploys in small groups. Not only that but international aid arrived with the UN.I also swear I have heard that task force name before...

I can write a more extensive reply when I am not on my phone.

Thanks for the feedback. However, only a select few are SAS trained (Mason aka Brad and myself) to summarise it we were abandoned at Chenarus. We are willing to teach survivors skills that were used in SAS training to survive. A guy on our thread posted a great idea as recruitment: Once members are recruited we send them into the forest to survive. Hunt, fish, make clothing ect. If they pass then they're accepted into the group. We've been getting a lot of criticism about us being super soldiers when the reality is just what is stated in the objectives. I know there are some flaws in our lore as it is yet a WIP. I hope this response helps to the generalisation of your feed back which yet again I'm thankful for :)

When my friend gets back from camping I will discuss the lore situation with him. Thank you for pointing this out, means a lot :)

I enjoy the idea. A task force put together to combat the infection and maybe recover vital medical data gathered near the infection point. or track down scientists who are of use to the cure.

Just some rewrite and polish as mentioned above and you could have a really cool group going for you.

I will be sure to let ZAS Wolf know about this :)

Thanks for feedback I really do appreciate it!

I've mentioned it on the thread already, but I still think no matter how you adapt the lore you should ditch the SAS or any kind of special forces idea. I like the idea of a specialized anti Zombie squad but when you state that you are special forces many people just assume super soldier RP and it is hard to remember to show humanity, even regular military groups are accused of being super soldiers so its hard to pull off well in RP.

My advice would be to do your own research, there are a few British Army regiments that are close to special forces, Royal Marine Commandos, Paratroopers and many more. Look around the internet at Army, Navy and RAF regiments and what they do and perhaps select another force to be a part of.

If you really want to keep with ex SAS, or if you choose another regiment research the training you will have had, where you will have been trained ect...

I cant really list everything you will have to research but I'd advise spending a good amount of time reading what the British army does with what regiment and be sure to realistically portray what ever backstory you choose. Nothing will be more awkward than a better researched British soldier character asking you questions about your past and you not knowing the answer or getting it wrong.

I am a British army recruit so would be happy to help with this research and give ideas some time. Drop me a PM if you need any help.

I agree wholeheartedly with this

Why do you have to be special forces?

Why do you have to be military in-general?

Thanks for the consideration! I shall look up other assigned forces or perhaps just start something new from scratch. I just thought that only having a Select few of the members to have the survival ability in SAS training would be great to adapt onto the Chernarus lore. However, I completely understand why people would have large amounts of criticism on this group due to the whole "Super soldier" BS. If you think of our group more like a special forces unit it's not going to be very fun ig. Try to think of this group as the UN remastered if anything. Yet again thanks for the feed back it really does mean a lot to us as we want to try and make this group create the best RP experience not just for ourselves but for everyone else in the community! :)

If you read our Lore "Some of the members of the Zombie Apocalypse Service (ZAS) were once former British SAS trained operatives."  The SAS background works very well with the Chernarus Lore.  We chose an EX-special forces theme as this will give us great RP experiences and tasks e.g. We will take the recruits out into the woods for a day to live off the land, if they survive for X- amount of days they are then part of our group. Please note that our group IS NOT PURELY SPECIAL FORCES they are survivors bound to a select few of experienced operatives.  If you think of our group in a military generalisation I can assure you there wont be good RP. However, if you see us as more of  a remastered UN type of group this will make the RP experience not just better for us but for the role playing community. Yet thanks for the feed back and questions we are just trying to make a group that people will enjoy meeting IG and on the forums.
