DayZ wont launch

Question

When I open DayZ, it pulls up the CMD saying "Starting BattlEye Service..."

and it doesn't move. The CMD just stays open and never launches the game, no matter how long I leave it open.

I have left it open for over an hour. I have verified the game cache twice.

How to reinstall BattlEye? Didn't even know you could.

I reinstalled the game multiple times but nothing helped.

I now noticed something very strange

I went to C:/Program Files (x86)/Steam/SteamApps/common/DayZ

but there is literally nothing in the folder but a text file called "net"

So you don't have DayZ.exe in the folder?

Also to manually download battleye here is the link: http://www.battleye.com/downloads/

The only thing in the DayZ folder is a text file called "Net". nothing else. no .exe file or anything.

Downloaded BattleEye and when I try to open, it is error 0xc0000142 "The application was unable to start correctly"

I'm starting to think I'm never gonna be able to play DayZ again.

Okay, I am reinstalling the game to a different hard drive

You could try uninstalling Dayz again, restarting steam and trying to download again and see if all the files and folders show

Reinstalled it to a different hard drive, I have all the files there. Game still won't launch.

I tried to launch the DayZ.exe file in the folder. It says "Unable to locate a running instance of Steam"

i have the same prob, the way you fix it is to completely close steam (even in the system tray thing) then go to where steam is located on your pc, then go onto the folder, scroll down to where the little app icon is, and then run it as admin.

prob fixed but you will have to do that every time to get it going :(

Go to your dayz folder take out anything that has a be or says anything to do with battle eye and put all that in a folder on your desktop.

Exit out and verify dayz's game cache, it should say required 4 or 5 files then try to launch tour game.

If it doesn't work restart your computer and try again.

I have had to do this a few times and this usually works for me.

Things you did and you can still try:

-Reinstall DayZ

-Reintall the Battleye folder

-Verify gamecache

-Run the game as a admin

-Run steam as a admin

-reinstall steam (dont know if it helps but you can always try)

-Reintall Windows

Hi,

Don't know if you have tried this already but here are a few steps you can take to update battleye.

1) Open Explorer (Windows Key + E)

2) In the address bar (at the top, it probably says "▶ Computer ▶"), type

%LOCALAPPDATA%\DayZ\BattlEye

3) You'll want to go to http://www.battleye.com/download.html Download the DayZ BEClient.dll and copy it into the folder above.

Once that has been done try running DayZ, if that doesn't work try verifying the game cache again.
