Fishing Extravaganza?

Thoughts people.

get a bunch of folks with only fishing rods. bait and all that good stuff. (best not to bring weapons or valubles, don't want this thing to advertise "free shit come rob us")

you all appear in sight of each other at the coast... also means the competition holders can see if your throwing fish into another players pile.

clear out your inventorys. with preference that you allow the competition holders to check your inventory, this is so folks don't just bring a ton of fish with em and go "i win" 10 seconds into a content.

and then once the time has hit.....Fish!

after a time period. ya toss all your fish in a pile... first with the most fish in a pile wins something...

> This is mostly for civilian survivors who creep out of the woods to prevent social isolation sickness. talk with other wilderness folks and generally have a giant fish feast.

P.S this is in general discussion. because its only general discussion until folks want to see if its do-able in-game.

Ya know how it goes. Can't have nice things.

lol private message for certain individuals is the only way. "I did it for the fish...I wanted to eat it" legit reason to rob :P

Might be worth requesting a time for the event on one of the servers, say for two hours and no hostile action allowed etc. Not saying that it would be accepted but trying to run it during normal game time is risky (reports abound).

Events like this have been allowed before e.g. Tour de Chernarus; there was lots of preparation for it though, it's own thread (graphics/rules etc.) and you need to have the interest for an event like this.

I wish you luck :)

This is perfect news. just a matter of demand.

Personally it would be good to find the other lonesome wonderers in the woods. who might turn up for such a quiet evening sort of thing.

Anyway thanks Sam.

Sounds like Runescape fish parties from 10 years ago.

I could support these events. I always like them. Havn't tried fishing in game though.

Sounds like a fun idea in concept, I'm curious to see how it would work in practice. Unfortunately I don't believe I have that kind of patience, so I can't say it's my thing but there's a certain, Buddy Fisher man who would probably be interested. ;)

Get ready for random fresh spawns stumbling onto your tournament.

mmmmm........ as someone that goes fishing IG on a daily basis i absolutely adore the concept and have thought about a similar event myself... though the last time i checked, dayz currently does not allow more than one person to fish from the same body of water (pond / stream) at the same time. it just doesnt let you do it. you cannot use fishing rods on the coast yet and the improvised fish traps are now a one time use for sardines and become ruined once you catch some... its saddening

The preparation would be real; loud dramatic drum music.

*skips to the fishing*

All you see is peeps with their poles in the water. 'silence'.

10/10 I'd fish ;)

Impressive explosion of interest. seems buddy is onto something tho. if ya can't have a group of people fishing in the same location it would make screening cheaters far harder... especially if ya can run to a well placed cashe of prearrange fish.

I gotta be the critic even tho am the OP. if i can think of ways to mess up the event. am doing my job proposing the concept haha.

Alas. it seems this may indeed be a valid event for the future.

Run a test when ya get time. see how bad the distance is between players to fish from a lake or such.

I'm keen, put me down as interested too. Look forward to seeing if this happens.

Remember you need the frying pan to cook the fish.

And some of the fishes are poisenous.

Update: http://www.dayzrp.com/t-Encourage-player-run-events

Rolle himself has proposed utilising a server for private events... Should the proposal pass. then the Fishing Competition can be held

If the motion is passed and private events can take place. i will enquire with thoses who showed interest here on offically creating a Fishing event...

Might even speak with the Casino guys. see if we can't get a betting pool on the go.
