Higher frame rate using Fraps

Recommended Posts

-KG-    0

Maybe not much of a tutorial but i just increased my frame rate when recording using fraps with ~15 frames in about 2 minutes so i thought id share this simple "trick" :)

1.

First off i turned -OFF- "V-Sync" which you can find in your advanced graphics settings in-game.

2.

I then downloaded a neat little program called Game booster(2.4 premium) Found here.

If you dont like/trust thepiratebay im sure you can find it somewhere else as well...

3.

And finally i set fraps to record at 60fps instead of my previous 40, logic would say higher fps recording would be more taxing for the computer but no, it seems like the opposite actually.

Full registered Fraps can be found Here.

I also heard recording onto different HDD than the game itself is installed on helps, I am already doing that so I cant comment on that.

Hopefully this will allow more people to record their tense encounters and we can assist the GMs even more in their work against rule breakers :)

Surprised you didn't get the Razer version :P

Good post though.

I use Dxtory.

Dxtory

That has saved me countless headaches.

Some corrections:

1. Uninstall fraps

2. Download dxtory

3. Install dxtory

4. Set dxtory up

5. Download Lagarith Lossless Codec or Matrox VFW Codec and install it

6. Set Lagarith to YWV12 or Matrox to MaxHD I-Frame 50mb\s

7. Record at 1280x720 @ 30 FPS or 850x482 @ 30 FPS

8. Record the game in another HDD then the one that Windows and the game is installed.

9. Defrag your HDD.

10. Make sure everything works

Result is file size smaller than original Dxtory codec and Fraps, no quality loss and almost none impact on frame rate (here drops 2-5 fps while recording).

I should really set myself up with some recording softwear- going to be putting some of this to use, I'm sure.

Should get some decent footage, given I act as overwatch mostly, so I normally get to see the whole battlefield.

Game booster? Are you serious, KG? That program does the same thing I have done for years, manually. And the program itself requires cpu and memory power.

Just look at this promotional video of a similar or exactly the same(?) program, LOL.

YouTube videos play at 30 frames so I would just set fraps to record at 30 frames instead of 60
