  1. 1. Proper in-game character names?

Given the increased RP focus, this seems like a no brainer to me.

Yet, for some reason, there's still people using numbers and l33t combinations for names.

My suggestion is simple:

No numbers, or number replacements for letters, for in-game names.

Note: People have nicknames or aliases, which are fine... so long as they don't include random numbers.

The matter actually is picked up by staff recently, await enforcement :)

Yeah, thought this would be common sense. But there are a few people that just don't quite get it. Total immersion breaker to see "xXbLaZ3DaGAnjaXx: Hey dude, got any spare meds?" (Yeah fine, an over exaggeration but you get the point).

+1

Faith in humanity restored.

Has been discussed in staff forums, like goz said.

yeah would be awsome if people use real names instead of some short nicknames

Well. I use jukki as my alias since my finish name is hard to pronounce for some.

I said aliases or nicknames were fine. It's mostly the numbers - and to an extent, the nonsensical random letters - such as Survivor_x_645 [as an example].

Two dayz ago somebdoy in [beep] TS pronounced it "zuki".

I then corrected him "juk-ki".

He understanded "jupi".

Dem accents.

Back to the Topic, i keep using my "Dimitri Petrenko" name.

I support proper IC names. This is an Role Play server after all. You are here to Role Play.

I'm sure there's nothing wrong with Jukki, or Sin for that matter, as nom-de-guerre. Certainly some of us survivors don't want to go around using our real names. On the other hand, I don't want to see a rash of John Smiths walking around.

Like I mentioned, aliases and nicknames are fine. I don't see a problem with them; such as Sin, Essence, Nightblade, Triggerman, whatever.

It's the names like 'X Trigger X 208734' that bother me.

I was surprised that there wasn't a rule for this earlier on so I'm glad to see this has been picked up on by GM's :)

Honestly, it hasn't been much of an issue in the past. I can't recall too many names that fit the description that's being talked about here. But yeah, I have noticed a few lately and as several staff have already said, we'll be monitoring this more closely.

How about the name Hugh, Hugh Jass? :3

But yeah, I get the idea and am all for it. I rolled around with "Tizi808" for while and was asked by a staff member to change it. It's now Tiz. Which isn't a problem. The "808" was just an area code which represented where I was born; Hawaii. Also, how would we go about clan tags? If someone sees [AuxG] Tiz, that's certainly not an RP name. I'm interested in how this will be implemented and enforced.

Well thats why there should be an squad XML so the clan tag comes after your name automatically. And I see it only proper to have clan tag in your name as long as it comes after your name.
