I would agree that it rains quite a bit in game, I don't know what the percent chance is set at right now. I think a great thing to do for the dev team would be to look at real weather statistics from this part of the globe, and implement that percentage of rain into the map. That would be awesome and would really increase immersion.

You gotta remember it's alpha. That's why the guns, food etc are so common (for now). And I guess that's why the weather is set to shitty most of the time. To get all the bugs out. It's easier to encounter the bug when the items/events associated with it are more common. But that's only my guess.

I belive they had set the seasons to september before, which was resulting in freezing, then they set it to summer and that was OK but people were overheating, now it seams to be set to a rainy season (maybe spring?) just stay dry and you'll be fine!

They do. All the time. Even when ruined.

I've not had a problem with getting wet in the entire time I've been wearing a rain proof jacket. it's been three months.

I must be doing it wrong, I got a rain coat on, go out in the rain, begin the soaking process, begin the cold process, begin the freezing process, begin the death process.

I must be derpy. I have yet to been able to make it to green mountain due to getting smited down by rain. I just want to roleplay! ;_; I'll give it another go tomorrow I'm sure.

Thank you for your words of advice to everyone else as well.

I just got a little bit salty because in the process of me freezing to death I constantly had zombies chasing me for k/ms upon end and running through houses unmaterialzied. I just had to rant, I know it's alpha. But I was always told, it's better to let it all out instead of keeping it all balled in. Y'know?

That is the saddest thing i ever read, im almost ready to offer to escort you to green mountain

Apparently I scare people away. I've had at least 3 V3S's pass by me, I give a friendly wave. They stop, they look, they notice me dying.

Pedal to the metal yo!

And there I am, forced to run; forced to escape the zombies facing my immediate death shortly after.

Hmmm.. I should probably write up a story, but I don't think it would work since I've gone through multiple run ins with this rain demon. But, I'll think of something.

i only really have 2 problems with the rain

1 there are not enough rain proof clothes only the raincoat stops you from getting wet

the "colour" tactial jacket's say they're Wind proof and water resistent but they dont stop you from getting wet like the raincoats and

the quilted jacket you would think it would be water proof and it even says it is in its description but no it does not stop rain effects

2 lag about 4 or 5 patches ago the devs gave the rain some nice new effects the ripples on the clothes the little puddles on the ground there all really nice but after that update *BAM!* hit me like a ton of bricks everytime it starts to rain i'll freeze for about 4 to 5 seconds and during the whole rain period my FPS drops from 20 ish to 9 ish

Gorka camo shirts act like rain coats if I recall correctly.

Raincoats or Gorka if you want to be an oper8or. Once you have one of those just make sure you don't dip your feet in any ponds and you should be fine.

I may very well do so. Now that I think about it, and reading up on comments.. I may have been lied too by the description of my jacket, it's one of those quilted ones I believe that look waterproof. I'll be on the hunt for the non-imposter.

If you look at the DayZ wiki it gives you a quick run down on absorption, insulation ect. According to the wiki, although I wouldn't be surprised if it was a mistake, the wool dress is also 100% waterproof.

If you get wet and cold get inside and don't stop sprinting, you should be able to heat yourself up enough to survive, alternatively kill an animal, put its guts in your inventory and you will be as toasty as you would by a fire.

Yep, I fell for that one too, thinking the quilted was waterproof. Apart from that never really had a problem with rain, raincoats and gorka are quite common enough at the moment.

I do, or did, seem to have magical raincoats though, that seem to keep even my beanie dry...

Oh and there's some other clothing that really should be waterproof too, especially the rider jacket, and possibly the bomber jacket (although I've never owned one of the later in real life).

Awesome advise there.

I am relatively new to the whole experience of the "new and realistic" side of DayZ. But once I get the hang of everything, understand the mechanics, and gather up the needed materials for survival it'll be loads of fun and I'll finally encounter my first group of people! Or... Someone pat least.

I'll remember that brother.

If you have yet to play S4, it's works as follows.

Rain for 30 minutes - one hour

Stop raining for 5 minutes

Repeat.

However! With the advise given me here, I will once again attempt survival.
