Black Swan Private Military Contractor was founded in 2005 by a former US Navy Seal, Marcus Newborn, after he had won a large sum of money from a lottery ticket. He used his winnings to start to build the PMC, hiring only 6 men/women, who have military backgrounds, in the beginning. After a few years, with funding from private investors, Marcus was able to grow the PMC to a major level. The actual amount of personnel is classified, but most people speculate that they have over 50 personnel on duty. With major contracts coming in, the PMC was beginning to make a large amount of money, and they had even been hired by major governments to protect officials overseas.

The Outbreak:

When news started to emerge out of the small country of Chernarus that an unknown virus had suddenly appear, the council of the PMC didn't think much of it. The Black Swans had been sent over there a few times during the civil war, and knew that the country was a hot zone for civil conflict. But once the quarantine was established, it caught the attention of the of not only the PMC, but the world. The next few weeks business boomed in nearby countries, political officials and wealthy people were dishing out money for protection.

October 25-30:

The UN was beginning to get short staffed on military personnel at their disposal, so the sent in PMC as a quick fix to help maintain the quarantine till more troops could be sent in. The quick response from around 15 PMC's was a temporary fix to the problem, and we were only suppose to be deployed for 3 weeks. The Black Swans were issued UN supplies, but like most countries, wore their own uniform to identify themselves. The Black Swans were deployed to South Zagoria as protection for local treatment centers. 50 men were deployed to the region, but after collapse, only around 10 were still alive. Unable to escape the region, the men were forced to remain in area. Present date, we are only 5 men strong, but we are accepting men into our ranks.

The Black Swans were sent in to protect the remaining people of South Zagoria, and they will continue to attempt to perform this task while maintaining aspects of their old PMC ways. They want to bring some kind of order to high traffic areas, such as Green Mountain, Vybor, Dichina Military Base, Zelenogorsk, NW airfield, Stary Sobor, Novy Sobor, Berezino.

Is your character an ex-SEAL? I'm confused if you're playing LT Marcus Newborn or LT Sam Verinus.

No he is Sam, why would the leader of a widespread PMC go to battle himself?

That's what I thought too. But in the "Join" section it has Marcus Newborn as one of the people you send the application to, and it goes to Octavius.

For the love off... super-solider PMC's?

Really?

You can actually see the inspiration Black Swan draws from Blackwater. Eric Prince, founder of Blackwater, was a SEAL. He recruited a lot of his buddies for the initial membership.

The PMC Triple Canopy was made up of mostly Delta and Army SF, the name itself referring to the three tabs that SF wear. I say "was" because TC merged with BW last year.

Trident Group is another PMC that derives both it's membership and name from the SOF community, the trident being the name for the SEAL badge. The two SEALs who died on the Maersk Alabama were Trident Group contractors.

The list goes on and on. It's almost unrealistic to have a PMC NOT founded by a former SOF operator. And it makes sense. Governments pour a lot of money to make SOF extremely good at their job. They risk their life for their country time and again, often with insane deployment tempo, yet get paid pennies. They realize they can get out and use their skills in a less dangerous environment (protection instead of direct action), still serve their country (they are contracted by the US Dept of State or another US-aligned corporation that needs protection while working in a hostile environment), and each make $200,000+ a year doing it.

is this group in Europe \ America ?

Which way could i pay for the services (in case i need ?).

Since there is no money in game, perhaps bullets like metro (game) ?

xD

I was actually thinking about this.

We should come up with a currency that has some intrinsic value, is common enough, but not rare. Something that everyone can have a use for. Also preferably something that stacks and has a decent RP reason.

Perhaps antibiotics, charcoal tabs, and painkillers? Call them generically "meds" since they're all roughly equal in value by game play. Plus they fit in medkits and protector cases.

Not really, the founder of the PMC was a Seal, like many other PMC's. Most of the contractors deployed have a standard military background to no military background at all.

Most currency is what people in game find valuable, things such as guns, food, ammo, water would be practical currency at the moment.

It is another Navy SEAL. I'm pretty sure there's a couple full teams in Chernarus by now.

But that being said, the CEO isn't in Chernarus, so I see no problem. Then again, Octavius has a Navy Officer rank in front of his character name and a trident in his signature, so he might be playing a SEAL too.

Which is interesting because no one cares if you were an O-3 when you left, you don't use rank after separating from the military unless you actually retire, and even then it's generally only O-6s or higher who still sometimes get referred to by their rank. Also E-9s.

So the fact that Octavius' character refers to himself as LT indicates he's still an active member of the Navy (assuming he's from America)... So how is he also contracting for Black Swan? Could be interesting.

Even if it's not started by Spec Ops officer, or whatever the backstory may succumb to, it looks like its just going to have the same fate as the XM Mercs group.

Maybe they will or maybe they won't. Their story, although unlikely is at least possible.

I use to play as a Seal before we created the group and I just haven't changed the signature. My character right now has the rank lieutenant to indicate that he is currently the highest ranking member deployed in the area. My character was in the military, but isn't anymore.

With most countries pulling their troops out of the quarantine to return home because the infection is being spread, PMC would most likely be the only force the UN could deploy.

It's been a controversy for years on whether or not PMCs could, in fact, be deployed as UN peacekeepers because of their quick response time. It would be easier for a PMC to go to a country then, for example, the US to deploy troops to a country. They would most likely wouldn't be there for very long, but they would be there until a country could deploy troops there. As it says in the backstory, we were suppose to be there for very long, we were just suppose to be there long enough for more UN peace keepers to be deployed to the area.

Makes sence i guess ... im not expert in this things, but its funny to know that a pmc group can be made from a lottery ticket :)

Anyway i did 2 questions and so far no one answered me

1º Are you guys in s1|s3 or s2 ?

2º If i need you services, who much it whould cost?

And im saying this because i have an idea to do in the 0.53 patch and some

we are normally on the US server, but it doesn't really matter what we play on. And for payments, it would depend on what we are doing and for how long. If we were doing, for example, protection while you went and checked barracks at NW, simple ammo or food would probably be enough. But if you wanted protection from Cherno to NW, it would cost more.
