Hey i was wondering how to properly RP a robbery because as it seems. Telling someone to "stop the vehicle and do not get out", then waiting for a response for them to show that they are complying to then give further instructions isn't rp. I'm going to link a video of my last robbery that got me a 3 day ban because apparently the first attempt was to far out of range (testing that and will soon be an appeal) and the second attempt wasn't rped properly.

someone please help me out and tell me what it is I did wrong.

How to RP a robebry:

Dependent on the reason for the robbery.

Non rp: drop your weps 5 secs.

RP: Citizen! This is an NCR [ Example ] Identification! Drop your weapons on the floor or face death!

Now drop your backpack.

Don't do anything you're going to regret.

What's your name?

Alright, SoHam, I'll let you go. Next time, don't be trespassing on our grounds, understood?

If you take aim at me, you'll die, got that?

Alright, leave, run east. Do not return.

You've basically summarized how Major works. Never seen him do it in-game though :P We're not bandits, I assure! We're just... doing it for, uh, safety reasons of course! I wish someone would go Medieval and went up on the road going: "Stand and deliver! Bring me your gold, and your goods, or I will have a knife stuck up your throat", preferrably in a Ye Olde English accent that sounds like you have sand in your throat.

"drop ur guns and dont move" isn't RP. lol

Two examples from yesterday:

"Stop your car and turn off the engines for a drug check. You can leave with your gear and your lives if you comply and are cleared. If you do not comply, you will be shot."

"Move and you're dead!"

"Who the hell are you!?"

"Put your gun on the ground. You're not in a place to ask questions. Identify yourself."

"I'm nobody really. Please don't take my hardware. I won't last a day without it."

"I'm confiscating it until we decide what to do with you."

Then I escorted him by gunpoint to the dealer he was watching, and three of Injected had him prisoner as we interrogated him. We recruited him, gave him his weapons, and took him with us on a mission.

It wasn't exactly a robbery, but through text or chat, just say what you would say in that scenario. Not "drop ur guns and dont move."

"I'm gonna check your friend for loot and if none of its any good I'm leaving."

It's a robbery, and you aren't necessarily out of character, but you're not in it, either.

We interrogate people, ascertain their purpose, affiliations and decide what to do in each case.

If they are an ally we will let them pass without further problems. We can trade or we can even provide medical help if appropriate.

If we have proof they are an enemy of the Chernorussians we will deal with him, either by confiscating their assets or execution (but this is unlikely as we have let quite a few go recently).

We use an RP macro to state intentions and cover our backs, but use voice from then on unless they require more text.

The real questions is whether you want to give people the chance to role-play and create a proper experience for people.

We always try to be fair with whatever we do.

+1 to what they said.

Question though:

What does it ALWAYS have to be a robbery? Yes yes he is trying to rob something from someone, but it should not be so.... Generic like the guys were saying. As for vehicles I wouldn't try yelling at it while its flying past, that's like yelling at a dog to run when it's deaf. Try to make the situation more RP. Maybe get them to THINK your a nice guy but when they turn their back, drop your shit compadre or the last thing you'll hear is the muzzle bang from a (insert caliber here).

Roleplaying a robbery including moving vehicles is hard. One really needs road blocks or/and obstacles which force the car to take a diffrent route then you surround it. Are noone roleplaying highway pirates or thought of the idea? Pick spots where vehicles are most likely to pass by. Setup road blocks or some sort of obstacles then surround them and get the vehicle and leave the survivors stranded but alive. It might not be to easy but i guess you have more fun, both robbers and victims. Instead of a scenario that ends in reports and angry people.

Just a thought.....

Macro bandits are really taken care of nowadays.

In the old DayzRP it was allowed to "roleplay" as "Drops weps 5 secs" and then you get headshotted by 4 or 5 snipers on the other edge of the map.

These people do not belong here, and shall be dealt with.

Go to some deathmatch server and start KOS'ing everything that moves.

On here you roleplay as a real person, and handle as a real person would do.

And please use voice as your main communication.

Only use text to initiate and exit robberies. This is purely so you can prove a robbery done legit. The text s only there to start and stop a hostile event.

The server has taken a turn for the good roleplay we came for, not the really stupid bad banditry that occurs on any other server.

How to roleplay?

Act as if you really were there.

If you get robbed at gunpoint by some aggresive people, you don't bargin, you either know you are outnumbered, or you fight. And if you fight, that means you are either really stupid and die within seconds, or you have a plan, and you might live.

Ok thank you all for clarifying. So basically toss in a few lines that would engage a proper talk as if I were a military person or a policemen gone rougue and stopped someone to rob them.

In my opinion RP doesn't always have to be hardcore, but it does have to align with your characters backstory.

I, for example, am sort of myself in a way. I avoided the whole military thing as so many others were doing it. I am still from Australia, and I was just a normal teenager, really.

I talk in an "Aussie" way to most people I meet, and if I know them we have a quick chat before going on our ways. If I'm robbing, I do it in a very relaxed way, which may not be how any one else would do it.

"Hey mate, I'm going to need to to not face me. Yeah, turn the other way, thanks. Do me a favour and drop your weapon, please. It wasn't a request," *laughs*, "It was a demand. Yes, your side arm too. Ah, awesome. Oh, drop your bag too, just so we know you're not much of a threat, you know? Now just take a few steps to the right for me, great." *goes through gear*

Sometimes I continue chatting so it distracts them, sometimes I let them have their gun back if I think they won't try anything.

"Alright, you don't really have anything we want, so when you see us drive off, you can go back to your stuff and pick all your shit up. But if we see you move before we leave.. just don't do it."

OR

"Okay, so, I'm going to need you to face _____. Yeah, that way. Now, you see those trees in the distance? Well, you better start running mate, and don't turn around, for your sake. Well? Get going!"

Also, if you're robbing someone and using a macro, and I'd say this is only OK if it's a CAR. Because I understand they go fast, hard to slow down, etc. NOT when robbing someone on foot, that isn't needed.

BIG NO:

!!!ROBBERY!!! STOP! drop ur backpack & weapon 5 seconds!!!!!

IS OKAY:

Stop the vehicle! Turn the engine off, if you do what we say, nothing has to go wrong here.

Or, you can do this, since we only need the text to prove it's a robbery:

Meekia: [[OOC: ROBBERY. WILL BE CONTINUED OVER VOICE.]]

What Meekia wrote plus :

If you are in a clan - you must RP with keeping that in mind. You should try to convince the victim that you are in organised group through voice, not only tags and skin :) It's encouraged to provide additional info, talk within character and circumstances - enjoy the robbery , don't run away as soon as the victim drops stuff.

If you are robbing a car - there must be some succesfull attempt to slow down the vehicle and macro/written message is suggested as passengers inside vehicle can't hear VON too good. Either that or the robbery intentions must be clearly visible (roadblock and people pointing guns at vehicle could do the trick).

im pretty sure thats not allowed. back when i played here the rules stated you HAVE to make contact first via text. and looking through the rules now, it doesnt seem to have changed.

2. No Killing on Sight

You have to make contact before initiating a hostile action. Contact is made when the player has responded to or otherwise acknowledged your message. You must make your intent of hostile action clear to your victim(s). If player is compliant, do not kill them. Treat the players fair in-game like you wanted to be treated in a RP environment.

It doesn't say it has to be over text. A checkpoint on a road is a pretty clearly indication that you will be searched or asked to stop.

As long as you make contact by speaking/text it doesn't matter. Your actions also express the situation.

really ? that would be a HUGE step forward rp wise on this server.

lets take the roadblock for example. if you block the road and point your guns towards an incoming car, and the car is trying to escape by turning around or breaking through the road block, you are allowed to open fire without making contact, because in real life it would be obvious this is going to be a tricky situation ?

I would love that, but it sounds like it is a bit hard to verify if everything went down according to the rules afterwards. Only if you have video you could prove that you did in fact make it clear your were going to rob him. Otherwise it is your word against his.
