Is Twitch deded?

Steam Broadcasting has been added to the latest Steam beta:

What do you think? I haven't tried it yet, but any alternative to Twitch is great in my opinion, especially when streamlined and easily accessible from Steam. No extra software, settings or accounts - it just works!

Well Twitch makes it harder to upload to Jewtube these days with that ridiculous audio thing where game music is muted with 3rd party things while Jewtube doesn't do that or only does that when there is a real claim. Also the forced delay in Twitch is sometimes annoying.

But this sounds nice though since Steam hasn't got all games I doubt Twitch dies.

In a firefight. No problem. Watch my friend and find out where he is and kill him. Meh I don't want this

There are still games not used in Steam, so Twitch will live on.

Donations

Schedules

Turbo

etc.

For large streamer it would not be viable.

A few reasons why:

  • For every person that wants to watch you have to accept the request they send you in order for them to begin watching.
  • Anyone who connects to you gets direct access to your IP which in turn will lead to sad children DDos-ing streamers because that are cool or something.
  • Twitch offers monetization to the streamers with a larger audiences i high doubt steam will do the same.

In all its a great feature but it was made for friends to watch friends not for people who make a living out of it so I think twitch is safe for now.

On a side note me and Rampage tried it and it didn't work at all really he could only hear sound, however it is still in beta and it will get better over time, I hope steam doesn't abandon this feature like it did so many others.

I don't really care for the subscriptions, donations etc. I just watched a broadcast on Steam and it works extremely well, video and chat loads almost instantly, on twitch it lags and is super slow. I will most likely use this :)

Non-steam games can be added to library and also use this feature, so not limited to games on Steam.

From the sounds of it Steam broadcasting may be good for casual streamers, like Rolle said, who aren't in it for the twitch bux. I'd try it out if I had semi-decent internet.
