Part 1

The soulless, lifeless, glazed over eyes. Every time she closed hers, they were there. They begged her to end it, to stop the agonising suffering of rotting away slowly from the inside out. Sometimes it would be different, they would ask why she did not do it, why did she leave them there like that, why had she not returned. Questions that she would often push out of her head everyday whether awake or not. Luna was afraid of them, scared to face her own cowardice actions of that night, she wasn't ready.

There was no way to stop the dreams, all she could was continue to travel. That had been an advantage of being with The Hosts, they kept travelling, kept on their toes, not staying in one spot. They had taught her a lot, what had happened here in Chernarus, where to look for supplies, enough about the layout of the land to recognise the larger cities and some tips on dealing with the infected. Although she rather not to go near them at all.

Trudging up the coast, she thought about how she will miss them, The Hosts, they had been kind when they hadn't needed to. It was time to leave them, they had big plans which she did not see herself fitting in with, they had different goals and ideals and she had not seen them in some time. Luna hoped the note she left them was enough until she saw them again. Hanging onto the memories of her time spent with them, it was time to move along in this new world.

The sun was coming up, she knew she was almost there. He was a nice person, always wanting to help others, he had shown Luna where to go if she needed to find him again. When she first met Mace, he had rescued her off the coast in his fishing boat, who just rolls in on a fishing boat and starts shooting arrows from a crossbow at a horde of infected? Well Mace did. Before Luna had time to process this, she was on his boat and freezing her way along the coast, away from danger, safe from the troubles on the land.

Trudging carelessly along side the water, Luna thought about what she was going to do next. Travelling alone was something she was still getting used to, but not something she really wanted. What did she want?

Mace was not home, he was probably out hunting or helping out some people. As Luna settled into a small ditch under a tree nearby the shack Mace had taken up residence in, she switched on her radio. Flicking through the channels just listening to different groups it randomly picked up she thought about seeking some out. She had heard a few stories of some of the larger groups in Chernarus, she had even meet some here and there, Hosts had even been at war with one, so far there hadn't been any that she could see herself in.

A few days passed, Luna stayed nearby the area Mace was in, some nights joining him by the fire and chatting about life, learning about each other, hunting or fishing together. He looked as though he wore the troubles of the world on his face, scarred and torn at by the mental and physical trauma of the world. The kind of person you wanted to be friends with but perhaps, behind that scarred face and kind demeanour, a person you would never want to cross the wrong way.

Luna often avoided sleep, she was used to being deprived of it, it was her own choice after all, she would spend her spare time listening to the radio. Out of nowhere she heard it, a transmission from another group, a new one, it stood out from the other grumbles and threats that went on, something for her to be interested in, Red Back One...

Laying there she took her time trying make sense of her surroundings. Where was she? What had happened last?

Luna decided she had better get moving. Before going anywhere she checked her supplies, finding no food or drink made her stomach sunk. Without knowing how long she had been here, Luna could tell it had been some time, her lips were cracked and dry, her throat felt like sand paper every breath she took and any attempt to swallow the little saliva was painful. Her stomach growled, time to move and look for supplies.

Looking around, she found herself in a clearing, trees in every direction, which way would be to salvation and which to certain death. She took a chance, the direction that led slightly downhill seemed appealing for her current state.

Walking along she tried to ignore the pains, she tried to muster up her latest memory before waking up here. She had been down on the coast with members of Red Back One, gathering supplies, trying to save sick people, she helped her old friend Naomi from Hosts who had been chased by a horde. After that things got blurry, had she taken too many blows from the infected? Had she ran into a bad group of people and things went wrong? Eventually Luna gave up on trying to remember, she was beginning to get a headache and the pains were intensifying. All she knew was she had no supplies, no weapon, only a radio and some scrap paper. She would call up RBO on the radio but she had no location to give, it would be useless.

Stumbling out from the trees there was a familiar sight, to her right off in the distance, was Chernogorsk, in front of her that small town. And it was full of infected. Alot of places near the coast were like that, more infected then inland, they seemed drawn to it like they were drawn to large cities and airfields. Although it was night, Luna couldn't go in, not in this crippling pain in her stomach and head. Pulling out her radio, she knew now where she was and which direction was which, she fumbled with buttons, trying to remember how to use it.

Finally, at last, she reached them, they had a vehicle and they were coming to collect her. Go east, follow the large power lines, that is what they told her. The power lines led into rather thick forest and the noises in there she could hear, it did not seem like a decent idea but off she went.

Trembling started to set in, it may have been the cold or the thirst, maybe both. A sweat dripped from her brow and her legs were beginning to give out. She had to keep moving, push on, they will find her soon. Her radio made noises, the forest around her echoed the infected, she could not see straight, could barely walk.

She collapsed, Luna could no longer move, the pain and exhaustion was too much. The noises were closing in now, Luna closed her eyes and accepted the end, she could see the faces of her family, this was it. Yelling now, yelling her name, but these were not the voices of her family. She opened her eyes to a bright light, people, Red Back One. About time.

Thanks for the feedback! I do throw in different in-game experiences for the fun, not everything went down how it does in the story though :P Got to get some inspiration somewhere.

A date?

The silent darkness and crisp thin air of night was her favourite thing. Walking along the dirt road with Masulii and Feliks once again, she used the time to watch the stars. It was always enjoyable with these two, they liked giving each other a hard time and were good for a laugh. Luna had been on a few supply runs with Masulii, he was good at silently searching the cities and towns and didn't make her feel like some delicate flower who would just get in the way, although she knew he was always keeping a close eye on her. Luna didn't mind it, the Red Backs were her family and she kept an eye on them too.

She stuffed the last of another creme cake into her mouth, Luna blamed the boys for her growing addiction. Once she enjoyed one here and there, now she couldn't get enough of them after receiving daily supplies of them from others. She thought about the things she needed to look for when they got there, going over the list in her mind and prioritizing it. They needed more supplies each time, Red Back was growing fast and their current home needed more work to keep them safe, well safer then some tents pitched around a tree. How safe could you be in this new world? As long as they could start keeping out the infected it was a good beginning.

The group fell silent as they reached Elektrozavodsk, it was a habit more then anything and not a bad one. The grunting and groaning of infected filled the air as they went about their usual searching of the area. It was usual to be noticed by one or two of the infected, they were not very smart and easily outran, hidden from or lured into a tight corridor to be taken out, tactics Luna had picked up watching others. But sometimes they were different, like were extra extra hungry and this would cause more trouble then usual.

Luna had made it through the city and waited at the rendezvous point for the others. She had been able to find much at all. Sitting up on the hill she noticed a lot of the infection running about below her, she took out her binoculars to get a better look but found them chasing nothing, or maybe it was just an animal, either way it was no threat to her. As she put away her binoculars she sighed, it was past the rendezvous time and she was not fond of the idea of having to return to the city to save their behinds.

'There you are' came his deep gruff voice from behind her. She almost fainted from the fright he gave her. Masulii strolled up behind her as though there was no care in the world. Quite the accomplishment when the world was overrun with zombies and the amount of gear you needed to carry with you for survival. 'Don't sneak up like that! You scared the shit out of me,' Luna snapped at him, 'Where is Feliks?' Masulii laughed at her, 'Feliks is fine, he is still in Elektro. Come with me I want to show you something.' Taking one more glance back into the now silent, still city, Luna left with Masulii.

The two had not really spent a lot of time alone together. He had mentioned wanting to show her this place for a few days now. They walked along telling each other about how they ended up here in Chernarus. Both pasts as bad as each other, both had lost family and were alone now in the world. Eventually they reached the base of a mountain, although it was always nice to know more about others, the conversations on their losses had left a glum silence in the atmosphere. To lighten things Masulii suggested a to race to the top, it wasn't much of a race with Masulii making her laugh all the way there, upon reaching the top they were met with the beautiful sight of the coast, Elektrozavodsk and Chernogorsk.

At the top of the mountain they sat down over looking the sea spread out before them, watching people go by in the towns below. It made her feel safe, away from harm, no one and no infected to bother them. Here with Masulii, being here at all, seemed surreal to Luna. He put his hand on her shoulder and passed her a creme cake, smiling at her and not needing to say anything. She smiled back, like usual unable to resist while around him. But good things don't last. At that moment the radio sprang to life, the guys wanted them to return, they had friendly visitors. Begrudgingly and without any urgency they headed back to camp.
