Is it safe to update?

Question

Bryce_    1

Currently my DayZ version is not up to date, and I want to play with my friend who has updated. Is it safe for me to update, or will I not be able to play on the server if I do? If I can't join once I update, when will the server be updated or is there a way to downgrade? Thanks.

There is a way to downgrade, I believe Dax knows a method of doing so.

Delete Expansions/beta folder, and install the beta required when you want to play, depending on the server you want to connect to.

Simple as that!

If you need to update and wish to downgrade at some point, using DayZ commander to roll back the update version is an entirely viable method of course, someone might be able to elaborate on that as I don't have my screenshot software on this computer. :D

Hope that made sense/helped in some way.

Yep, using Dayz Commander click on `Install/Update` tab in the top right.

It will show your Arma 2 Beta Patch as the second item on the list with the current version and "Up to date" or "outdated" next to it.

Simply to roll back or get the latest, use the drop down box there and then click install. If you have any add ons, just click yes to update them also. Hope that is somewhat clear.

I believe this is a very good and clear answer to the question. I am going to mark the thread solved. (However, not closed)

Thank you theejamest for your post.

I have DayZ commander; however, when you downgrade through it, it doesn't work.
