I would like to initiate this thread with a request that responses posted invoke discussion and explanation, and not brief approval or denial. By criticizing and discussing, we can either refine this idea into a more suitable format or inspire entirely new ideas into those that witness the discussion. Thank you for your time, everyone.

The meta-story of the warring factions (the CTC, the Council, and remnant forces) is so fascinating to me, and I don't think they should be limited in any way shape or form into the format of organized events spanned across weeks at a time, few and far between. I believe that the fun in roleplay and the fun in the server relies a lot on dynamic situations and responses to them. Here are a few ways that I think we can provide some incredible atmosphere, great fun and excitement, and reward the staff for keeping the lights on with fun that we can all witness and enjoy.

Helicopter Crashes

I'm fairly certain that people have suggested before that helicopter crashes be scripted to be flying into the air space, then crashing and turning into the loot spawns that we have today. I think that the general concept of the helicopter crashes isn't nearly "DayZ RP" enough. It's wasted potential that we could make "ours"!

I would love to see the war of the lore come to life with dogfights above Chernarus, piloted and played by the staff. Helicopters, jets, and possible land battles taking place in the space around the players dynamically. If I'm not mistaken, the bodies of players fall out of helicopter wrecks and are lootable. By putting crews into these helicopters that are actual staff players, we are able to implement the crazy atmosphere of the war, some awesome explosions for people to watch, and very managed super loot.

The issue of favoritism and staff empowerment is eliminated in this scenario, considering that they will be fighting only each other and then moving on once one side loses, turning the losing side into a treasure chest for any bystanders of the dogfight or battle.

Example: CTC transport chopper seen flying over Chernogorsk. Council attack chopper seen engaging over Elektro. Players track the dogfight, and once one of the two helicopters go down, they can loot the bodies. Perhaps call it in to the faction they like, provide rescue for survivors of the wreck, etc.

Another example would be a stranded CTC supply truck on its way to the trade post, or out of the trade post.

A truck is plopped into the server by one of our lovely admins. A number of staff will man it (moderators, gamemasters, etc, all teleported to the right location by, again, our lovely, modern, and talented adminstrators), and some decent gear will be plopped in.

The supply truck is stranded on the server somewhere. The CTC call for allies, and the radio message is intercepted by bandits (server announcement in-game). If bandits take out the convoy, they earn the loot of the heist. If anti-bandits successfully protect the convoy, they are paid by the CTC for their spontaneous security contracts. Now the good loot would be in the truck and would be the reward for the winner of the event. The weapons of the staff inside the truck (say 2-3 people) would be simple AKs and a couple magazines, nothing too unbalanced that the bandits would be walking out of these events with much more than the heroes would be.

Calling in Support

This idea is certainly a stretch, but again, provides some fun, some intensity, and spreading the wealth of power throughout the server for non-bandit players to be handicapped in the fight between hero and bandit. I doubt many bandits would even mind this support system, because it gives them more exciting and challenging things to face.

Say a group has excellent relations with the CTC. For instance, the Free Medics. As we have seen, the faction will support the Free Medics in their cause by providing some shelter and consistent transportation options.

I would love to see medics calling in for a ride from the CTC's helicopter, or for anti-bandits to protect a stranded CTC supply truck.

Once a clan has supported the CTC a lot, perhaps once a week or so they can request a chopper ride from point A to point B. Or a mortar strike on a group of zombies, almost entirely for aesthetics.

These are only a few examples, and I may add more to the list if any others are suggested in response, or if I come up with something else later. I really think there is zero issue to this besides providing more atmosphere and good stories for the server to enjoy and for the staff to be rewarded with.

Drawback: People try to get into staff purely to get access to this shit on the server. If you have a hankering to do some of this stuff, just get it out of your system in Armory, then hop back on for the roleplay.

I did not read the whole thread by i totally agree. With the first two paragraphs at least.I would love to see some dynamic events going on such as the helicrashes and the battles you described. With that being said, +1 from me.

I mean, just imagine! Server announcement:

CTC supply truck just attacked by Council scouts. Need repairs and refuels in 30 minutes. Council rocket strike inbound!

No :troll:

Seriously though, I expect you'll see some of these kinds of scenarios play out. In fact, it's already starting to happen. CTC broke up a roadblock earlier today because it was on a main road to the TP.

Provided that TP doesn't become another bandit addled shithole like Prud, there's a lot of potential for good things coming. CTC is powerful, but they're not interested in throwing their weight around in regards to inter-clan politics, and they're only human. I'm sure we'll see them make mistakes when they extend themselves too far. Priority for the moment is establishing order in the region surrounding the TP and making a stable environment where trade can thrive.

The helicopter crash thing doesn't seem likely. It's been brought up before, but seems like one of the more loot-focused suggestions, so it's not a high priority.

Nope. It was written mostly as a fireworks-focused suggestion

Like Sin said, the heli-crash thing is unlikely.

So is player groups being able to order in mortar strikes, even for the sake of aesthetics. The cries of unfair ab00se and preferential treatment to certain groups would -never- stop.

Giving transport services may be more feasible however, but in the end that's Rolle's call.

If there's one thing in this list of suggestions I really do agree with and would love to see it is dynamic "battles" like you said. Its not a replacement to heli-crashes(in fact we may have something else in mind there, because heli-crashes....suck.) but it could be a good spice to the normal boring enviroment.

I do have some plans regarding that, although it would probably be skirmishes and nothing massive. Just enough to indicate that there's an actual war going on between the CTC+UEF alliance and the council.

We DID have a very small thing recently when a council survailence drown was shot down by a CTC anti-air unit. No players were involved in that one, just staff. So that was perhaps an early example, even if there was no loot offered as a reward to that particular incident.

Anyway, I'll keep your suggestions in mind and maybe we can kick something up with a dynamic CTC+UEF vs Council fights here and there. It sure has been a while since we had some of that. Right now most of the staff is very busy maintaing the TP however, so it might take a little while.

Would definatly like to see some of these air battles or skirmishes as I feel they will add more to the enviroment but I feel as soon as you allow ctc to help clans thibgs become unfair. I feel normal players should not be allowed to join these engagments unless it is an event. I think during the actually game all activities done by the CTC and the waring factions should be done by admins and scripted, thereby not giving player clans a a boost over there oponents.

The ideas here are great, if needing some fine tuning :)

Already at TP we have given armed escorts to TOR and Free medics once or twice and even gave (volki I think) a lift in our LAV when driving back to TP.

One thing I would enjoy is maybe some sort of CTC patrol/propaganda - driving through Chernarus looking for people to take to TP, spreading the word through IC means etc. Would help explain how everyone suddenly knows it exists.

Also we are thinking of giving people at TP little missions to do for CTC in order to get a reward and help lessen the amount of players there at one time.

Transport to locations is happening. I was out and about and picked up people who were stranded. Took them to TP to trade for parts for their car and returned them to their vehicle.

I could see things like heli-crashes or air drops as a way to break up 30-40 people hanging out in TP.

Have some kind of announcement in chat (like in Red letters, that has been done in the past). Basically just as a way to tell everyone in TP.

"OK kids, now go outside and play!"

That's basically what I do with the "Find Me" event, but I don't have admin powers :P

Spotter, I have talked to you quite a bit about some plans and mini events I have in mind. I do try to do as much as I can within my limited time. Don't be surprised, with approval that some things 'pop up' now and then.

Thumper, this was simply the public publishing of the geek out that you and I discussed. I'm too excited for something like that to happen that I can't keep it in. I need to show it to the world!

And I'm trying to come up with ways to put these kinds of events through the Injected.

Personally I would like to see some other staff faction attacks on the TP. Maybe one night half staff go CTC and the other half go council and some sort of defense alert is sent out. I think it would be cool for the staff to bring the danger to the TP, rather than making it a place that is totally 100% safe all the time. I think it would also make for cool stories for people to tell, similar to those of the council attacks on Prud.
